North Korea threatens "strong steps" if U.N. acts

Whah , whah ,whah !  North Korea needs to quit whining , and just stop their B.S. campaign that is More about getting what they want ( Money and food aid to support their military ) Than being about Supposedly launching satellites !

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - North Korea warned the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday that it would take "strong steps" if the 15-nation body took any action in response to Pyongyang's launch of a long-range rocket.

"If the Security Council, they take any kind of steps whatever, we'll consider this is (an) encroachment on our sovereignty and the next option will be ours," Deputy Ambassador Pak Tok Hun told reporters. "Necessary and strong steps will ... follow that."

U.N. Security Council resolution banning the firing of such missiles by Pyongyang. The resolution was passed after a nuclear test by North Korea.

In a rare appearance before reporters at U.N. headquarters, Pak said criticism of the launch was undemocratic and any country was entitled to use outer space peacefully.

"It's not fair. It's not fair," he said. "While they themselves launch more than a hundred times the satellites ... we are not allowed to do that. That is not democratic.

Iranian Presidential Candidate Calls Ahmadinejad an Extremist

HA! New York Times

TEHRAN — Rejecting the policies of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as “extremist,” a leading presidential candidate said Monday that he favored improved relations with the West and greater individual freedoms at home.

Mir Hussein Moussavi, a former prime minister who announced his candidacy last month, lashed out at what he called “extremism” and “mismanagement” by Mr. Ahmadinejad, policies that he said were “jeopardizing the country’s interests.”

“We need to pursue an active foreign policy to achieve détente,” he said at a news conference here. “Extremism has cost us a high price. We have to work hard to build international confidence.”

But he said he would not back down from the country’s nuclear program, which began when he was prime minister from 1980 to 1988. Instead, he said, he would try to build international confidence that Iran’s nuclear ambitions were peaceful.
What difference does an Iranian president really make? The real power sits with the Mullahs.

Picture of NOrth Korean Missile

WRite summary here Times Online

According to the US military, the rocket flew safely over Japan and ditched its final stage – and, apparently, its satellite payload – into the Pacific Ocean after a journey of 3,200 km (1,990 miles). However unsuccessful the satellite launch, this is further than any North Korean missile has flow before.

But, according to reports in a South Korean newspaper yesterday, the North will rely on reports from its enemies, because it lacks radar powerful enough to track the flight of its own missile all the way to the end. The Chosun Ilbo newspaper also claimed that a North Korean ship dispatched to monitor the flight had to turn back because of mechanical problems and that an air force plane crashed because of poor maintenance.

Muslim employer woman fabricates a theft case against Christian baby-sitter

More persecution of Chrisitians in Pakistan. Pakistan Christian Post

Charnali, Pakistan: April 6, 2009. (Jawad Mazhar reports for PCP) April 5th: A Christian baby-sitter was accused of stealing 6 (six) gold bangles by her mistress here on the outskirts of Sargodha, said parents of the Christian baby-sitter talking to PCP on Feb 21st. Parents turned down accusation saying that some one else might have stolen gold jewelry but they (Muslim mistress and her family) are targeting our little daughter thinking that this little girl and her impoverished Christian family would not be able to stand against them and thus compelling the little girl to work for them free of cost.

Nasreen Bibi, the mother of the accused Christian baby-sitter said, after Christmas and New Year celebrations, on Jan 4th Muslim school teacher asked my daughter to re-join but we wanted Mehvish to quit her present job and continue her education. Nasreen Bibi went on saying that therefore Mehvish refused her mistress and got admitted in a local private school for her education.

Parents of the innocent little former baby-sitter said we were completely stunned to know when her Muslim mistress leveled charges of stealing six gold bangles worth Pakistani Rs. 160,000/- (US $ 2029/- approx) against her, almost two months after leaving the job of baby-sitter.

Parents said that refusal of Mehvish Ashraf infuriated Muslim school teacher Humaira Bibi and her husband and they have threatened the innocent little girl to return to her job or face the consequences.
They're treating the little girl as their own slave.

Muslim Mob Drags Christian Women through Streets

Welcome Gateway Pundit readers

This muslim mob obviously misunderstands islam otherwise they wouldn't have gone berserk after a muslim woman eloped with a Christian man.

O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

Christian News

International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that Noor Husain, the father of a Muslim woman who eloped with a Christian man, led a mob of his neighbors and friends in an attack on his village's only church in Pakistan's Punjab province. After desecrating the church, the men forced their way into Christian homes, dragged out the women, and paraded them forcefully on the streets.

The assault, which occurred several months ago, so terrified the Christian community that 21 families fled, leaving only four Christian families who are still in the village.

"Petrified Christians locked their homes and fled to their relatives, living in other villages and cities, to save their lives," said Ashraf Masih, a Christian resident who has remained in the village.

First picture of North Korean rocket – but no sign of satellite

North Korea will deny that their Satellite Missile launch failed , regardless of the proof otherwise , Whatever they have to do to keep up the image of little Kimmie , and to save face with their people , they will do .

timesonline

It isn’t a bird, it isn’t a plane, and it’s certainly not Superman – but is it a satellite? Two days after North Korea’s launch of a long-range rocket rattled the rest of the world, there is still no agreement on what it was actually doing.

A US research institute has released the first photographs of Sunday’s launch of the Musudan-ri launch site in the north-east of North Korea. They clearly show the rocket’s smoke trail across the forested hills and the fiery trail of the projectile itself. But where did it end up?

The North Korean state media repeated their claim yesterday that the launch had been a complete success, pitching into orbit the Kwangmyongsong 2, or ‘Lodestar’, satellite. The name is one of the titles awarded to the country’s supreme leader, Kim Jong Il, who witnessed the launch and reportedly expressed great satisfaction with what sounds less like a communications beacon than a giant musical box.

“Our satellite is transmitting the immortal revolutionary paeans The Song of General Kim Il Sung and The Song of General Kim Jong-il as well as measured information to the earth,” the Korean Central News Agency reported. Both are hymns to Mr Kim and his father, the founding president of North Korea.

The capture of alleged Mexican drug cartel leader Vicente Carrillo Leyva prompted the Juárez mayor to place police in the city on alert.

Juárez Mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz, who's received death threats, ordered the alert after Mexican federal officials announced Carrillo Leyva's arrest.

Carrillo Leyva, considered the No. 2 man in the Juárez cartel, was arrested Wednes day while jogging in Mexico City. Officials who presented him at a news conference Thursday said he had changed his appearance through plastic surgery.

Iran's Ahmadinejad says waiting for U.S. policy change

Well Mr , Imalittlemonkey , The United States is also waiting for a policy shift from you and your country ! this gesture ( much like you ) goes both ways !

ASTANA (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Monday welcomed overtures by U.S. President Barack Obama but said Tehran was waiting for concrete steps to back up his words.

In a turnaround in U.S. diplomacy, Obama has said he wants better ties with the Islamic Republic and offered a new start in relations after decades of mistrust. Iran has so far given a cautious response to Obama's overtures.

Speaking in Kazakhstan during an official visit, Ahmadinejad said he welcomed "change and reform" but made it clear Tehran expected Washington to make the next move.

"We are waiting for this change," he said. "We hope that his (Obama's) views are based on the necessity for reform and change of policy. We hope he can achieve that."
....

He made early gestures to Iran during his inaugural address in January and last month released a video message to the Iranian regime and its people, urging a new beginning.

Then, Aliakbar Javanfekr, an aide to Ahmadinejad, said Iran was waiting for "practical steps" from the United States.

Iran's top authority, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has said Obama's offer of better ties is a "slogan," but pledged Tehran would respond to any concrete policy shift.

Beating Somali pirates at their own game

Read the whole thing. Here is a teaser... Wired

To beat pirates in potentially violent showdowns, the Navy has adopted the pirates' tactics of using "mother ships" carrying fast boats to spring on opponents. [...]

Today, pirates use motherships for nearly all their attacks. "What we tend to see happen is a mothership will ... drag along a couple skiffs with it and have probably 10 or 15, 20 pirates on board, and then they'll send the skiffs out to go after a merchant vessel," McKnight said. He commands a new three-ship, counter-pirate task force.

Warships assigned to piracy patrols rarely engage pirates on their own. They deploy specialized search-and-seizure teams, which in the Royal Navy consist of marines armed with rifles and machine guns, traveling in raider craft. It was one such team from the frigate HMS Cumberland that killed three pirates in a firefight last November.

ISTANBUL (AP) — The incoming head of NATO called for a balance between free speech and respect for religious feelings after a dispute over his support for the right to caricature the Prophet Muhammed had threatened his appointment.

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who overcame objections from Turkey about his suitability for the alliance top job, said he will pay close attention to religious sensibilities when he becomes NATO secretary-general in August. His stance over the caricatures had angered Muslims around the world.

Somali Pirates hijack ships in Indian ocean

Somali pirates are now moving out into the Indian ocean in an effort to avoid the international task force that is trying to prevent pirate attacks off the coast of Somalia. AFP

NAIROBI (AFP) — Somali pirates seized a French yacht, a German vessel and a Yemeni tugboat over the weekend in a flurry of hijackings far out in the Indian Ocean, a group monitoring piracy said on Monday.

As pirates ventured further off the coastal areas heavily patrolled by a growing international naval coalition, Ecoterra International also revealed that an Indian cargo had been seized and released over the past week.

The environmental group, which monitors illegal marine activities in the region, said a French-flagged yacht with four crew had been captured Saturday "around 640 kilometres (400 miles) off Ras Hafun in northeast Somalia."

FAIL: North Korean Missile Launch

North Korea's missile, which was suppose to carry a "satellite" into Earth's orbit, fell into the Pacific ocean. Even though North Korea claims they successfully deployed their satellite and that its broadcasting revolutionary songs, their Spuknik is really laying on the bottom of the Pacific ocean.

However, the North Koreans are getting better. In 2006 when they first tested the Taepodong missile, it fell into the Japanese Sea. This time they managed to have a successful first staging. Give them a few more years and they might be able to reach the Pacific coast with a 500 kg warhead. Brisbane Times

North Korea's rocket launch is a partial technological success on the way to building a long-range missile, even if Pyongyang failed to put a satellite in orbit, the former director of the US missile defence agency says.

"It says, first of all, they had successful first staging and (were) able to control the rocket through staging," retired General Henry Obering told CNN television on Sunday.

"That is a significant step forward for any missile program because often times the missiles become unstable as they go through the staging events," General Obering said.

But the following stages failed, with parts falling in the Sea of Japan and the rest in the Pacific, he told the US news network.

"The fact that they did not get apparent separation of the payload from the second or third stage means that they have more work to do there in terms of being able to achieve that," Obering said. "The bottom line is they are continuing to advance in their ranges and I think it's why it's important that we have the ability to defend against these types of threats."

Somali pirates seize German ship

We have not heard of a successful Hijacking from the horn of Africa lately , The Navies of the world have done much to stem the attacks , but the little Gangsta's of Somalia still persist ! I think it is time to step it up and just blow some of these guys out of the water , Maybe a few random acts of violence from the good guys of the world , will help discourage them !

NAIROBI (Reuters) - Somali pirates have seized a 20,000-ton German container vessel in their latest attack on the Indian Ocean's busy commercial shipping lanes, a regional maritime group said Sunday.

Heavily armed gangs from the lawless Horn of Africa nation hijacked dozens of vessels there and in the strategic Gulf of Aden last year, taking hundreds of sailors hostage and making off with millions of dollars in ransoms.

Foreign navies rushed warships to the area in response, reducing the number of successful attacks in recent months. But there are still near-daily attempts.

Andrew Mwangura of the Mombasa-based East African Seafarers' Assistance Program said the latest hijacking happened on Saturday 400 nautical miles off the southern Somali port of Kismayu, between the Seychelles and Kenya.

"We believe the German ship has 24 crew on board. We're trying to establish their identities and the name of the vessel," Mwangura told Reuters.

The German Foreign Ministry said it was seeking "concrete evidence" that a German-flagged vessel had been captured.

"The Federal Government is dealing with the case, and all the appropriate public authorities are participating intensively," a spokeswoman said.

Sri Lanka military says 25-year war in final act

For the third time in about as many months , the Government of Sri Lanka is saying the end to the war is almost there ! I guess when you have been fighting for over 25 years what is a few months !

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's military said on Sunday troops had confined the Tamil Tiger rebels to a no-fire zone, where the last act of the 25-year separatist war will play out with tens of thousands of civilians still trapped.

Three separate units killed at least 420 rebels after surrounding them in a triangle-shaped single square kilometer (0.5 square mile) during a three-day battle, the military said.

That means the remaining rebel-held area is less than 20 square km (8 sq miles) of coconut groves on the Indian Ocean island's northeast coast where the United Nations has said the Tigers have kept more than 100,000 civilians as human shields.

"The only uncleared area left is the no-fire zone," military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said. "We have recovered over 420 bodies over the last three days."

Troops confirmed they had killed the head security officer for Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) founder and leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran, Gaddhafi; the head of the LTTE's female fighters, Vidusha, and commander Theepan.

North Korea rocket launch provokes global outcry

Well they did it , and nobody shot it down ?.
But there sure is a lot of lip flapping going on , You know the normal , Bad North Korea , You shouldn't do that it is not nice , why can't you just play nice with us North Korea ? it is all B.S.
supposedly they said they put a satellite in orbit ,I doubt it , but i guess the possibility is there ? if this was a successful launch the world has some new serious issues to deal with today !
The U.N. is holding an Emergency meeting , so that means nothing will happen at all !

TOKYO/SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea fired a long-range rocket over Japan on Sunday, provoking international outrage and triggering an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council as it succeeded in grabbing the world's attention.

The reclusive communist state's official media said a satellite had been launched into orbit, and it was now circling the earth transmitting revolutionary songs. But both the U.S. military and South Korea said nothing had entered orbit.

U.S. President Barack Obama said the U.N. Security Council should deliver a strong message to North Korea for what analysts believe was effectively a test of a ballistic missile designed to carry a warhead potentially as far as Alaska.

The rocket launch is the first big challenge for Obama in dealing with the prickly North, whose efforts to build a nuclear arsenal have long plagued ties with Washington. North Korea tested a nuclear device in 2006.

"With this provocative act, North Korea has ignored its international obligations, rejected unequivocal calls for restraint, and further isolated itself from the community of nations," Obama, who is on a European tour, said in a statement.
Obama later said North Korea must be forced to change.

The 15-member U.N. Security Council will hold consultations on the launch at 3 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

NATO's outgoing head, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, said NATO's 28 member nations reached unanimity after a series of Turkish "concerns" were addressed at the alliance's two-day, 60th-anniversary summit.

Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters that his government's requests had included the closure of a Kurdish satellite television broadcaster based in Denmark; the establishment of contacts between NATO and Islamic countries; appointment of a Turk as an aide to Fogh Rasmussen and senior NATO command positions for Turkish generals.

No country in their right mind wants to take these Efing rejects and just turn them loose on society !   They will all have to be watched for years to come ! One of Al Qaidas best tactics Is The waiting game !
P.S  I don't consider France in their right mind !

STRASBOURG, France (Reuters) - France is ready to take a detainee from Guantanamo Bay when the prison camp is shut down, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Friday after a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama.

He said he had long been a critic of Guantanamo but that if Obama needed allies to take detainees from the facility in order to close it, then France would agree.

"We can't condemn the United States because they have that camp and then wash our hands of it once they close it. That's not what being allies is about," Sarkozy said during a joint news conference with Obama.

"Yes, we talked about it, and yes, we reached an agreement," he said, adding there was one Guantanamo detainee connected to France.

Obama expressed his appreciation to Sarkozy for "being good to his word."

"I made the decision to close Guantanamo because I do not think it makes America safer," he said.

"In order to do it carefully and thoughtfully we are going to consult with our allies, and in certain cases we are going to need help with detainees that may still pose a risk but we may not be able to repatriate to their countries of origin."

European governments, who for years called for the camp to be closed and want to mend ties with the United States that were damaged under former President George W. Bush, face pressure to help find a home for some its about 245 remaining detainees.

However, governments have been split on how far they are prepared to go and whether they would accept Guantanamo inmates, particularly those with no link to their own countries.

Climate change not all man-made

The environmentalists won't let this report get in their way of a socialist/environmentalist paradise. National Post

t's wrong to blame our warming climate on human pollution alone, says a major analysis by U. S. climate scientists who say North America's warming and drying trend also has important natural causes.

Natural shifts in ocean currents have caused much of the warming in recent decades, and almost all of the droughts, says the U. S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).[...]

NOAA says Western Canada has warmed by two degrees and Eastern Canada hasn't warmed at all because flows of air from naturally shifting Pacific currents have affected the West most.

The lengthy re-analysis of climate data doesn't dispute that greenhouse gases from fossil fuels cause a warmer climate. But it raises questions about the details: How much warming? How many causes? And why isn't it the same every-where?

One down, 23 more to go... LA Times

Reporting from Mexico City -- Mexican authorities on Thursday announced the capture of Vicente Carrillo Leyva, a suspected top leader of a family-run drug gang based in Ciudad Juarez and one of the country's most wanted figures.

Federal law enforcement officials said Carrillo Leyva, the 32-year-old son of deceased drug kingpin Amado Carrillo Fuentes, was arrested Wednesday while exercising in a wealthy neighborhood of Mexico City.

The younger Carrillo was listed among the country's 24 most wanted drug suspects last week when the federal government offered $2-million rewards for each. Authorities described him as an heir to the organization once led by his father, who was known as the "Lord of the Skies" for his use of aircraft to move drugs.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican police have captured a drug baron from the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez, the country's most violent place in a turf war among trafficking gangs that killed 6,300 people last year.

Vicente Carrillo Leyva, 32, a leader of the Juarez cartel, was seized while jogging in a park in an upscale residential district of Mexico City, police said on Thursday.

He was presented to the media, wearing a white track suit, shortly before U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Attorney General Eric Holder arrived for talks with the Mexican government about plans for tougher border controls to stop U.S. weapons reaching Mexican drug gangs.

"His capture marks another significant victory for Mexican law enforcement," the U.S. Embassy in Mexico said.

April 1 (Bloomberg) -- Australian special forces killed a senior Taliban insurgent involved in organizing suicide attacks and training foreign fighters in Afghanistan, the Department of Defence said today.

Mullah Abdul Bari coordinated bomb attacks on international and Afghan forces in the southern province of Uruzgan, the department said in a statement. Bari was killed in a recent operation by Australian and Afghan National Army troops, it said, without elaborating.

“His weapons of choice were roadside bombs and suicide bombers, and his death means that Taliban insurgents operating in the region have lost one of their key facilitators,” Chief of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Mark Evans said.

U.S. expands Pakistani drone-strike zone

Good news , Expanding the area of predator drone strikes !
Baitullah Meshud , gonna be mad about this one ,

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A pilotless U.S. drone aircraft fired a missile at a Taliban compound in Pakistan's Orakzai region on Wednesday, killing 12 people in the first such attack in the area, a security official and residents said.

The raid came a day after Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud said his group had carried out an assault on a police training center in the eastern city of Lahore in retaliation for U.S. drone attacks.

Residents of Khadizai village in the ethnic Pashtun tribal region said the missile hit a compound of a Taliban commander loyal to Mehsud, Hakimullah Mehsud, and 12 people were killed.

A security official who declined to be identified confirmed the toll in the strike, adding 13 people had been wounded.

Hakimullah Mehsud was not believed to have been in the compound at the time, another Pakistani intelligence agent said.

A Pakistani Taliban official said the missile had hit a "camp for guests" in Orakzai, which is near but not on the Afghan border, southwest of the city of Peshawar.

"We have sent our people down there but we don't know about the casualties," the Taliban official, who declined to be identified, said by telephone.

The United States, frustrated by an intensifying insurgency in Afghanistan getting support from the Pakistani side of the border, began launching more drone attacks last year.
