Muslim Population in the Military Raises Difficult Issues

Difficult Issues ? You Don't say !
I guess the main issue would be If we can really trust A Muslim In the United States Military , Or do we just keep rolling along like it was not that big of a deal , And wait till it happens again ? (And Repeat as many times as needed , to not offend Muslims ? )
What is the difference between a Muslim suicide Bomber that kills 13 people and injures 30 , And a Major in the U.S. Army who happens to be a Muslim , snapping and going on a rampage killing 13 People and wounding 30 ?
Well one is a Terrorist attack !
And The other , In my opinion ... Also A Terrorist attack

....Fox News
The deadly rampage at Fort Hood is forcing Pentagon officials to confront difficult questions about the military's growing Muslim population.

The military has worked hard to recruit more Muslims since the start of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the number of Muslim troops, while still small, has been increasing. There were 3,409 Muslims in the active-duty military as of April 2008, according to Pentagon statistics.

Military personnel don't have to disclose their religions, and many officials believe the actual number of Muslim soldiers may be at least 10,000 higher than the Pentagon statistics. For instance, the military "Officer Record Brief" of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the suspect in the Fort Hood shootings, said he had "no religious preference" and didn't identify him as a Muslim.

Even now, Muslim soldiers remain fairly rare in some parts of the military. At West Point, Army officials said there were just 24 Muslim cadets out of a total student body of 4,400. The Muslim cadets worship in an interfaith center on the bucolic New York campus, but don't have a dedicated mosque.

The push to boost Muslim representation has proven to be a double-edged sword for the military, which desperately needs the Muslim soldiers for their language skills and cultural knowledge, but also worries that a small percentage of those soldiers might harbor extremist ideologies or choose to turn their guns on their fellow soldiers.

In one of the military's most notorious cases of fratricide since Vietnam, Army Sgt. Hasan Akbar, a convert to Islam, rolled a grenade into a tent filled with other soldiers in April 2003. The attack killed two officers and wounded 14 others. During his court-martial, prosecution witnesses testified Sgt. Akbar had committed the attack because he believed the U.S. military would kill Muslim civilians during the coming invasion. Sgt. Akbar was later sentenced to death.

Muslim soldiers also face challenges stemming from their dual identities as adherents of the Islamic faith and as members of the U.S. military. In Iraq and Afghanistan, Muslims serving in the U.S. military often use fake last names to avoid being singled out by insurgents as traitors and to prevent reprisals against their families elsewhere in the world.

Anything for a buck in Mexico ! Even stealing newborn babies and telling the mothers (Who are Sedated ) that their Babies have died , and they were already cremated !
Their is absolutely no shame in Mexico , Anything goes !

....CNN World
Mexico City, Mexico (CNN) -- Mexican authorities have arrested three doctors, a nurse and a receptionist accused of stealing newborns at a private hospital and selling them, the Mexico City attorney general's office says.

A married couple and a woman also were arrested on charges that they bought two newborn girls and registered them as their own offspring, said Luis Genaro Vasquez Rodriguez, an official with the attorney general's office.

The doctors and hospital personnel would tell parents from whom the children were stolen that their babies had died, authorities said Wednesday.

One of the abducted babies, Diana Fernanda Castillo, has been reunited with her biological mother. Authorities who found the baby and confirmed her identity through genetic tests handed her over to her mother, Vanesa Edith Castillo Guzmán, on Thursday.

Authorities said they arrested Drs. Victor Manuel Mancera Gonzalez, 74; Jorge Adalberto Guerrero Bustos, 55; and Alfredo Ortiz Rosas, 52. Nurse Maria Guadalupe Castro Morales, 58, and receptionist Leonel Rodriguez Mondragon also were arrested, the attorney general's office said in a statement posted on its Web site.

All the suspects were charged with trafficking in minors, using false documents and organized crime.

Other suspects arrested were married couple Antonio Merino Hernandez, 46, and Maria de la Luz Ruiz Padilla, 39, as well as psychologist Cinthia Nayeli Perez Ortiz, 37, officials said. In both cases, authorities said, they were sold babies born in Mexico City's Hospital Central de Oriente.

Second Ft. Hood attacker apprehended at golf course

If the apprehended suspect did indeed work with Nadil Malik Hasan then it seems the attack on Ft. Hood was a terrorist attack. CNN

CNN) -- A senior officer who was playing golf Thursday near Fort Hood, Texas, told CNN he witnessed the arrest of one of the two surviving suspects of the shooting at the Army installation.[...]

The senior officer said he ducked into a nearby house for cover as 30 to 40 cars carrying MPs approached.

He said he saw a soldier in battle-dress uniform, his hands in the air. The MPs ordered him to lie on the ground and open his uniform, presumably to ensure he was not carrying explosives, the senior officer said.

He said an MP told him that authorities considered the man to be a suspect in the shootings after having overheard the man say he was with the shooter.

Muslims say Swiss minaret ban discriminates against them

Muslim groups in Switzerland are furious over a call to ban minarets. The groups claim that the ban would discriminate against muslims and islam.

Minarets aren't essential for muslims to pray in a mosque. But these muslim groups are real hypocrites. When they perceive a slight against them, they automatically complain of discrimination. However, they remain silent of the real discrimination occurring in muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia where it is to own a bible let alone build a church.

If they are really disturbed about discrimination against minorities, speak out against that.

From Swiss Info

The initiative to ban the construction of minarets in Switzerland discriminates against Muslims as a religious minority, Swiss Muslims believe.

At a joint media conference on Thursday, representatives of national Muslim umbrella organisations explained the position of their communities towards the anti-minaret initiative which comes to a popular vote on November 29.

"Muslims in Switzerland identify with Switzerland as their home, whose constitution and laws guarantee them protection, freedom and security," said Farhad Afshar on behalf of the Coordination of Islamic Organisations of Switzerland.

Iran test advance nuke warhead

The IAEA has released a document which shows that Iran had tested an advance nuclear warhead design. The advanced design uses a technique known as two-point detonation which allows for a smaller nuclear warhead.

But don't worry, Iran's nuclear program is for peacefuuuuuuul purposes. The testing of the advanced nuclear warhead design was done for educationaaaaaaaaaal purposes.

Move along sheeple. Guardian

The very existence of the technology, known as a "two-point implosion" device, is officially secret in both the US and Britain, but according to previously unpublished documentation in a dossier compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian scientists may have tested high-explosive components of the design. The development was today described by nuclear experts as "breathtaking" and has added urgency to the effort to find a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis.[...]

Documentation referring to experiments testing a two-point detonation design are part of the evidence of nuclear weaponisation gathered by the IAEA and presented to Iran for its response.

The dossier, titled "Possible Military Dimensions of Iran's Nuclear Program", is drawn in part from reports submitted to it by western intelligence agencies.[...]

Another western specialist with extensive knowledge of the Iranian programme said: "It raises the question of who supplied this to them. Did AQ Khan [a Pakistani scientist who confessed in 2004 to running a nuclear smuggling ring] have access to this, or is it another player?"

Army post shooting rampage leaves 13 dead, 30 hurt

Now the Bigger problem , Even if an Isolated incident , what are you supposed to think about other Muslims that are part of our Military ? Can you trust them ? Do you never send them into battle now ? What do you do with them ?

Can you TRUST them ?

....AP
FORT HOOD, Texas — Military officials were starting Friday to piece together what may have pushed an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress to turn on his comrades in a shooting rampage that killed 13 people and wounded 30 in Texas.

The suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was on a ventilator and unconscious in a hospital after being shot four times during the shootings at the Army's sprawling Fort Hood, post officials said. In the early chaos after the shootings, authorities believed they had killed him, only to discover later that he had survived.

In Washington, a senior U.S. official said authorities at Fort Hood initially thought one of the victims who had been shot and killed was the shooter. The mistake resulted in a delay of several hours in identifying Hasan as the alleged assailant.

Authorities have not ruled out that Hasan was acting on behalf of some unidentified radical group, the official said. He would not say whether any evidence had come to light to support that theory.
The motive for the shooting wasn't clear, but Hasan was apparently set to deploy soon, and had expressed some anger about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, said generals at Fort Hood told her that Hasan was about to deploy overseas. Retired Col. Terry Lee, who said he had worked with Hasan, told Fox News he was being sent to Afghanistan.

Lee said Hasan had hoped Obama would pull troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq and got into frequent arguments with others in the military who supported the wars.

For six years before reporting for duty at Fort Hood, in July, the 39-year-old Army major worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center pursuing a career in psychiatry, as an intern, a resident and, last year, a fellow in disaster and preventive psychiatry. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001.

But his record wasn't sterling. At Walter Reed, he received a poor performance evaluation, according to an official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly. And while he was an intern, Hasan had some "difficulties" that required counseling and extra supervision, said Dr. Thomas Grieger, who was the training director at the time.

At least six months ago, Hasan came to the attention of law enforcement officials because of Internet postings about suicide bombings and other threats, including posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades.

Investigators had not determined for certain whether Hasan was the author of the posting, and a formal investigation had not been opened before the shooting, said law enforcement officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the case.

Saudi air force hits Yemen rebels after border raid

Militant Somalians having there ass's handed to them , Awesome !
Saudi Arabia , sounds pretty serious here , Slamming 100 missiles an hour into militant Muslim positions inside Yemen !
It couldn't happen to a nicer Bunch of people !

....
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia has launched heavy air strikes on rebels in northern Yemen and is moving troops nearer the border after a raid into its territory by the Shi'ite insurgents, a Saudi government adviser said on Thursday.

Saudi government officials said only that the air force had bombed Yemeni rebels who had seized a border area inside the kingdom, which they said had now been recaptured. The officials said at least 40 rebels had been killed in the fighting.

The Yemeni government -- which has long dismissed accusations by rebels that it has colluded with Saudi Arabia to combat them -- denied that Saudi planes had struck across the border.

"Saudi Arabia did not hit targets in Yemen," a Yemeni defense official told Reuters, declining further comment.

Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest oil exporter, has become increasingly anxious about instability and militancy in Yemen, which is also facing separatist sentiment in the south and a growing threat from resurgent al Qaeda fighters.

"As of yesterday late afternoon, Saudi air strikes began on their positions in northern Yemen," the adviser said, asking not to be named because operations were still going on.

"There have been successive air strikes, very heavy bombardment of their positions, not just on the border, but on their main positions around Saada," he said, alluding to the capital of the northern province where the rebels have been battling Yemen government forces since August.

Al Jazeera television quoted a rebel spokesman as saying the Saudi air force had raided six locations inside Yemen. One position had been hit by about 100 missiles in one hour.

Man made climate change belief now legally a religion

A British court ruling has given belief in man made climate change the same legal protections as religious beliefs.

This makes total sense...seriously though. Isn't a religion something one believes in but cannot prove on scientific grounds?

Even though Al Gore and co. like to say the scientific debate is over on man made climate change, there has been no conclusive evidence to prove their theories. So someone would have to have faith in the validity of the theory of man made climate change.

From Telegraph

An executive has won the right to sue his employer on the basis that he was unfairly dismissed for his green views after a judge ruled that environmentalism had the same weight in law as religious and philosophical beliefs.

In a landmark ruling, Mr Justice Michael Burton said that "a belief in man-made climate change ... is capable, if genuinely held, of being a philosophical belief for the purpose of the 2003 Religion and Belief Regulations".

The ruling could open the door for employees to sue their companies for failing to account for their green lifestyles, such as providing recycling facilities or offering low-carbon travel.

Chinese general calls for the militarisation of space

“Competition between military forces is developing towards the sky and space, it is extending beyond the atmosphere and even into outer space. This development is a historical inevitability and cannot be undone,” said Gen Xu

China is moving to militarize space while President Obama has vowed not to. Good times ahead.

Financial Times

China’s air force chief has called military competition in space “inevitable”, a departure from Beijing’s past insistence that it is not pursuing space programmes for military purposes.

The remarks by General Xu Qiliang, head of the People’s Liberation Army air force, published in several state media, are a reminder of another area of potential future rivalry between the US and China. In addition, they indicate increased competition within China's military.[...]

“The militarisation of the sky and space is a challenge to the peace of mankind. In the face of this challenge, you don’t have a voice unless you have power. Only if you have strong power can you protect and safeguard peace,” Gen Xu was quoted as saying.

“As the air force of a peace-loving country, [we] must forge a sword and a shield capable of winning peace.”

IDF forces discover ship with 100s of tonnes of weapons and ammo bound for Syria and Hizbollah

Special Israeli Defense Forces have uncovered a massive cache of advance weapons on board a cargo ship headed for Syria. The weapons are believed to have been sent from Iran destined for Syria and Hizbollah.

Some of the advanced weapons included anti-aircraft missiles, Katyusha rockets, mortars, grenades and of course AK-47s. Up to 500 tonnes of weapons may have been seized.

From Jerusalem Post

Special Navy forces discovered a massive amount of weapons and ammunition on a cargo ship some 100 nautical miles west of Israel overnight Tuesday after boarding the vessel, which was flying an Antiguan flag.[...]

Hundreds of tons of weaponry were on board in dozens of containers, they said.

A significant amount of 122-millimeter Katyusha rockets, likely made in Iran, assault rifles, mortar shells and grenades were found on board, added the officials.

Israel Radio reported that advanced anti-aircraft platforms never before found in the region were also on board. [...]

According to the officials, the vessel carried advanced weaponry including missiles, and the incident was apparently 10 times in scope to the seizing of the Karine A ship intercepted in January 2002 off the coast of Gaza. That boat carried some 50 tons of military equipment including Katyusha rockets, antitank missiles, and high explosives.

The above is what was suppose to be inscribed on James Gadiel's memorial in the town of Kent. But resident Catherine Posselt appealed to the city to reject the wording because the wording is "racially insensitive". The town granted Posselt's appeal and rejected the memorial.

This is absolutely insane. We can't even name the barbaric throwbacks who killed more than 3,000 people on September 11th because we might hurt their feelings. First off, how is the memorial "racially insensitive"? "Moslem extremists" are not a race, they're a bunch of islamic supremacists who kill innocent people in order to establish shariah law.

From NBC

Peter Gadiel lost his son James when planes struck the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. He has asked for a memorial planned in the town to be inscribed with the phrase that has divided the town and gotten national attention, the Waterbury Republican-American reports.

Kent resident Catherine Posselt Bachrach led a citizens' appeal to reject the wording, the Republican-American reports, and town officials agreed with her.

First Selectman Ruth Epstein told the the Torrington Register Citizen that the inscription would be racially insensitive and not appropriate for a monument paid for with taxpayer dollars.

“I feel it was such a catastrophic episode for the United States, and we lost one of our own, that it is a good idea to memorialize James. But we could not condone that wording for anything on public land,” she told the Register Citizen.

Most Pakistanis back war against militants:

As they should , It is amazing that more people do not support the Eradication of the Taliban and Al Qaida from the face of the Earth !
It is as though they are loved by more people than ones that despise them.... Go ahead Hate the U.S . but you should at least support the efforts to Kill And Defeat Radical Islam in all shapes and sizes !

....
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A majority of Pakistanis support military action against Islamist militants although more people blame the United States for the violence than blame the Taliban, a poll released on Tuesday showed.

Pakistan's army launched an offensive against Pakistani Taliban militants in their stronghold in the South Waziristan region on the Afghan border on October 17 after a string of militant bomb attacks and commando raids on urban targets.

The militants are being squeezed out of their strongholds but have retaliated by stepping up bomb attacks.

Many Pakistanis are suspicious of the government's support for the U.S-led global campaign against violent militancy and many have long opposed military action against Islamists.

But political analysts say the numerous bomb attacks in towns and cities over recent months have convinced many that action is necessary.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation poll conducted by Gallup Pakistan, an affiliate of Gallup International, 51 percent of people support the government offensive.

"There is cautious support in Pakistani public opinion for the military action currently underway in South Waziristan," the research group said.

The IAEA has become as useless in an investigation as the U.N has !
I guess all six major countries are just wrong And the IAEA is always right !

....
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran says is only intended to generate electricity, is an attempt to force the world to acknowledge it as a regional power, U.N. nuclear chief Mohamed ElBaradei said on Wednesday.

"They believe that the nuclear know-how brings prestige, brings power, and they would like to see the U.S. engaging them," he told a forum on nuclear disarmament. "Unfortunately that holds some truth. Iran has been taken seriously since they have developed their program."

Saying Iran's nuclear program was a "means to an end," ElBaradei said Tehran "wants to be recognized as a regional power."

He reiterated the position of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the U.N. agency he has led for 12 years and leaves at the end of the month, that there is "no concrete evidence" Tehran is pursuing atomic weapons as Western countries suspect.

The United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China have tried for years to persuade Iran to halt uranium enrichment in exchange for economic and political incentives. Tehran has so far refused to a halt the program.

The soldiers, who had removed their body armour and helmets, were shot by an Afghan national policeman who then fled. It is not known whether he was a member of the Taliban or being coerced by the insurgents.[...]

"They wanted to get more police boots on the ground in advance of the elections so there was a real rush to recruit an additional 10,000 police, particularly in the south, particularly in Kandahar and Helmand provinces.

"So it is not totally surprising that people were recruited who may have had Taliban sympathies or were infiltrated into the police by the Taliban."

Italy, Vatican in uproar over court crucifix ruling

I Have never been one for religion of any Kind ! saying that I also have never been offended when seeing a Crucifix ! Or any symbol Of religion of ANY Kind !
much like most of you reading this , I would never walk into a Place steeped in religion and claim being offended , yet Muslims do it every chance they get !
Intolerance thy name is Islam !
I wonder how the Muslims would like it if everyone not of Islam , Became offended by their Mosques and their religious Symbols they like to plaster wherever they can ! it is just something to think about ! Turnabout is fairplay !

....
ROME (Reuters) - The European Court of Human Rights ruled on Tuesday that crucifixes should be removed from Italian classrooms, prompting Vatican anger and sparking uproar in Italy, where such icons are embedded in the national psyche.

"The ruling of the European court was received in the Vatican with shock and sadness," said Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi, adding that it was "wrong and myopic" to try to exclude a symbol of charity from education.

The ruling by the court in Strasbourg, which Italy said it would appeal, said crucifixes on school walls -- a common sight that is part of every Italian's life -- could disturb children who were not Christians.

Italy has been in the throes of national debate on how to deal with a growing population of immigrants, mostly Muslims, and the court sentence is likely to become another battle cry for the center-right government's policy to restrict newcomers.

"This is an abhorrent ruling," said Rocco Buttiglione, a former culture minister who helped write papal encyclicals.

"It must be rejected with firmness. Italy has its culture, its traditions and its history. Those who come among us must understand and accept this culture and this history," he said.

The Vatican spokesman said it was sad that the crucifix could be considered a symbol of division and said religion offered a vital contribution to the moral formation of people.

Members of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's government bristled, weighing in with words such as "shameful," "offensive," "absurd," "unacceptable," and "pagan."

Pakistani forces say enter a main Taliban base

I can't get over the fact that Pakistan is saying that they are right in the heart of the Taliban Stronghold , Yet only 33 or so Taliban have been killed in the past couple of days !
Something just is not making sense here !

....
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani soldiers have entered a main Taliban stronghold in South Waziristan near the Afghan border and are searching the area, the military said on Tuesday.

The army launched an offensive on October 17 aimed at rooting out and defeating Pakistani Taliban militants in their South Waziristan bastions.

Soldiers are advancing from three directions toward main bases, including the town of Sararogha, which the army said soldiers had entered.

"A search and clearance operation is on," the army said in a statement.

South Waziristan' rugged landscape of barren mountains and hidden ravines has become a global center of Islamist militancy and many foreign al Qaeda fighters are believed to be based there along with thousands of Pakistani insurgents.

The militants are being squeezed out of their strongholds but have retaliated by stepping up bomb attacks on urban targets.

Earlier Tuesday, the army said 21 militants and a soldier had been killed in South Waziristan over the previous 24 hours.

No islamic landmarks were harmed in the making of 2012

In the upcoming Hollywood movie 2012, about the end of the world, the writers have declined to include any scenes where any islamic landmark would be destroyed. But they have included many scenes where other religious landmarks are destroyed, such as a Buddhist temple, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, and Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ the Reedemer.

One writer wanted to include a scene where the Kaba is destroyed but his co-writer pussied out because he didn't want a Fatwa on his head.

From Cinematical

"Well, I wanted to do that, I have to admit ... but my co-writer Harald said I will not have a fatwa on my head because of a movie. And he was right. ... We have to all ... in the Western world ... think about this. You can actually ... let ... Christian symbols fall apart, but if you would do this with [an] Arab symbol, you would have ... a fatwa, and that sounds a little bit like what the state of this world is. So it's just something which I kind of didn't [think] was [an] important element anyway in the film, so I kind of left it out."
Wasn't an important element in the film? The whole movie is about the violent end of the world.

British muslim mom: I will turn my kids into suicide bombers

Shall I give in to the rule of tyrants? Do you think that is something I would do? No, I would not, because I fear Allah. Myself and my children would seek revenge and we would be bombs for the sake of this religion."

A muslim mother of 6 of was convicted of possessing documents, and sentenced for 2 years, for the purpose of terrorism has vowed to turn all of her children into suicide bombers. Good thing the British authorities set her free because she already served 1 year in jail on remand.

From Manchester Evening News

Divorcee Houria Chahed Chentouf kept information about how to kill and maim in the name of Islam on a computer memory stick tied to her burkha.

She admitted at Manchester Crown Court to hoarding terrorist manuals - but detectives believe she may have been working for a terror cell in the region.[...]

The M.E.N can also reveal that she was eventually arrested after a handwritten note was found at a Chentouf's address in Holland which suggested she planned to become a suicide bomber. It said: "Forgive me. Shall I give in to the rule of tyrants? Do you think that is something I would do? No, I would not, because I fear Allah. Myself and my children would seek revenge and we would be bombs for the sake of this religion."

Chentouf, 41, was convicted of possessing ducuments for terrorist purposes. She was sentenced to two years in jail - but immediately freed because she had spent more than a year on remand.

Russia simulates nuclear attack on Poland

A Polish leading news magazine, Wprost, has obtained documents that show that Russia and Belarus conducted a war game that simulated nuclear attacks on Poland.

The war games took place back in September around the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by the Soviet Union. If you recall, the Obama administration also canceled the missile defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland.

Poland is on it's own, no help will come from Obama, the EU or anyone else and Putin and co. know this. Looks like Hillary's wish to reset the relationship between the US and Russia have reset them back to the cold war era.

From Telegraph

The armed forces are said to have carried out "war games" in which nuclear missiles were fired and troops practised an amphibious landing on the country's coast.[...]

The documents state the exercises, code-named "West", were officially classified as "defensive" but many of the operations appeared to have an offensive nature.

The Russian air force practised using weapons from its nuclear arsenal, while in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, which neighbours Poland, Red Army forces stormed a "Polish" beach and attacked a gas pipeline.

The operation also involved the simulated suppression of an uprising by a national minority in Belarus – the country has a significant Polish population which has a strained relationship with authoritarian government of Belarus.

US Admiral concerned about Chinese military buildup

US Admiral Donegan has expressed concern over the rapid rate of China's military buildup. Officially, China has boosted military spending in 2009 by 15%, for a total of $71 billion, but most critics argue that the real figures are much higher.

China's short term strategic military goals is to build a military force powerful enough to overwhelm the defense of Taiwan before US forces can activated to protect Taiwan. AP

HONG KONG — A U.S. Navy admiral expressed new concern Friday over China's military buildup and urged Beijing to be clearer about its intentions.[...]

Donegan referred to China's expanded weaponry. His remarks echoed the concerns of other U.S. military leaders who have said the growth in China's military spending — up almost 15 percent in the 2009 budget — raises questions about how Beijing plans on deploying its new power.[...]

China has boosted military spending by more than 10 percent annually for almost two decades, and the official figure of $71 billion this year is thought by many analysts to represent only a portion of total defense spending.

China launches "strike hard" crackdown in restive west

A strike hard Campaign ? Sounds pretty harsh , but we are talking about China .
I guess we can expect to see some more arrests , and convictions , with those convicted being sent to forced labor camps , And possibly another death sentence here or there !
China is a bitch when it comes to Cracking down on its people !

....
BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese forces have launched a "strike hard" security campaign in the restless far western region of Xinjiang, vowing to wipe out lawlessness and "change the face" of the public security situation there.

Xinjiang's regional capital Urumqi has been rocked by ethnic violence twice this year, in which a total of around 200 people died..

Now the regional government is demanding tough action to bring stability back to the region, Communist Party mouthpiece the People's Daily reported on Tuesday.

"From the start of November, public security bodies in Xinjiang will ... start a thorough 'strike hard and punish' campaign to further consolidate the fruits of maintaining stability and eliminate security dangers," it said.

Security forces would "root out places where criminals breed, and change the face of the public security situation in these areas," the report said.

The term "strike hard" harkens back to the 1980s, when Chinese police forces launched campaign-like sweeps intended to catch law-breakers. Pro-reform legal experts in China later criticized those campaigns for ignoring suspects' rights and setting targets for arrests that encouraged abuses.

The Xinjiang government's revival of the "strike hard" rhetoric appears to be another part of its effort to win back the support of residents of the region who claimed that Uighur law-breakers were not being punished.

Police will continue to look for suspects involved in the July riots, and "keep a close eye on clues and cases involving terrorism and explosions," the official Xinhua news agency said.

N.Korea says has made more arms-grade plutonium

Alright , Big deal , North Korea is still defying the World by producing more weapons grade Plutonium .
This must mean they will be readying another Nuke to try and get their way !
The sanctions should be reinforced even more now , Just because the Norks are trying to cozy up with us doesn't mean we should return the Favor !

....
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea said on Tuesday it had completed reprocessing spent fuel rods at its Yongbyon nuclear plant and turned it into arms-grade plutonium, giving the mercurial state more material to produce atomic arms.

The announcement comes after the reclusive North, hit with fresh U.N. sanctions to punish it for a nuclear test in May, has warmed up to the outside world in recent months and indicated it could return to stalled international nuclear talks.

"We have finished reprocessing 8,000 spent fuel rods as of August. We have made substantial achievements in weaponizing plutonium from the extraction," KCNA said.

Experts said the North might be able to produce enough material for at least one more atomic weapon from the spent fuel rods at its Soviet-era Yongbyon plant, which was being taken apart under a sputtering, six-way disarmament-for-aid deal.

The North already had enough fissile material for about six to eight nuclear weapons, experts said.

"They (North Korea) are just telling us that they are biding their time and increasing pressure on the United States ahead of bilateral talks," said Yang Moo-jin, a professor at the South's University of North Korean Studies.

The North called on Monday for direct talks with its long-time foe, the United States, and gave the clearest signal so far it was ready to return to nuclear disarmament talks it has boycotted for almost a year.

That followed last week's rare visit by a North Korean official to the United States and what has been a "charm" offensive by the ostracized state that some analysts say is looking increasingly desperate for finance and aid.

Increasingly Desperate ? Lets keep it that way !

Iran May Not Be Ready to Ship Out Uranium

more stalling , more deceiving , more of the same old B.S !

....Foxnews
An Iranian diplomat says his country wants to buy fuel for its Tehran research reactor, the latest indication that Iran is not willing to ship most of its enriched uranium out of the country.

Ali Asghar Soltanieh says Iran wants to purchase the fuel and is ready for new talks to work out details.

Asked if that means Iran is not willing to export most of its enriched uranium stockpile for it to be turned into the fuel, he again said his country wants to buy ready-made fuel.

This came as IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei said Monday that Iran must respond to IAEA queries about its nuclear program, and be "forthcoming" in its response to an IAEA fuel proposal.

Soltanieh's comments Monday were a strong indication that Iran will not accept the international offer that would have stripped Iran of most of its enriched stockpile.

If Iran exports most of its enriched uranium, its ability to make the core of a nuclear warhead would be delayed.

Pakistan is a mess , Suicide bombings have now killed About 190 people in the last month , That is Muslim Killing Muslim Violence !
As the Pakistani military concentrates its efforts in South Waziristan , The Taliban are coming in from the backside to perform their dirty deeds of suicide Bombings .

....Dawn.com
RAWALPINDI: An explosion occurred on Rawalpindi’s busy Mall Road on Monday. At least 30 people were killed, while more than 45 were reportedly injured.

According to reports, a suicide bomber blew himself up in the vicinity of the busy Mall Road, in the high-security area of Rawalpindi Cantt. Major hotels, including the Pearl Continental, as well as other important government and army installations are located in the area where the blast occurred.

Monday's explosion left bodies on the ground outside the bank and in a nearby hotel parking lot, witness Zahid Dara said. The stricken area also lies close to the army's main headquarters.

‘I was nearby and rushed toward the parking area,’ Dara told a private television channel. ‘There were many people lying on the ground with bleeding wounds, and a motorcycle was on fire with one man under it.’

The attacker rode a motorbike to the scene, and the 30 people dead included military personnel, Rawalpindi police chief Rao Iqbal said. Some 45 others were wounded, he said.

‘The bodies were lying all over,’ said Ali Babar, a rescue official who was doing a refresher course at a nearby college and rushed to the scene to help. ‘This is a terrible thing. It is happening again and again.’

The intensity of the blast left numerous buildings in the area with shattered windows. Vehicles parked in the area were also damaged.

Rescue work was underway and the injured were being shifted to hospitals.

The government declared an emergency in hospitals across the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Security forces also cordoned off the area, while military personnel also arrived at the site of the blast.

The attack comes amidst a deadly wave of terrorist attacks which have killed over 190 in the last month.

Pakistan selects some drone targets

‘The image remained just as stable when the CIA remotely launched two Hellfire missiles from the Predator. Authorities watched the fiery blast in real time. After the dust cloud dissipated, all that remained of Mehsud was a detached torso."

Anything that helps Dispatch A member of the Taliban ,Al Qaida or basically any Radical Islamist is O.K. with me ! Obama agreeing to let Pakistan choose a few targets here and there , Not a Problem !
Especially when they are targets Like Baitullah Meshud !
The Only bitch I have is "Where is the Damn Video" Yes Video ! It seems that a privaliged few Were able to watch the entire demise of The Taliban Fat ass Baitullah Mehsud! IN REAL TIME !
The little description here leaves ME wanting more !

....Dawn.com
WASHINGTON: The Obama administration quietly decided last March to allow Pakistan to choose some of its own targets for drone attacks, according to the New Yorker, a prestigious US magazine.

Earlier last week, the magazine published a piece on the use of unmanned aircraft to target Al Qaeda and Taliban suspects in Fata. On Sunday, its author Jane Mayer gave an online interview to the readers, telling them that the Obama administration agreed to allow Pakistanis to select targets to calm down Islamabad’s protests over the drone attacks.

The change in US policy led to the killing of Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud in August.

The journalist, who interviewed senior US intelligence officials for the interview, wrote that on Aug 5, officials at the Central Intelligence Agency, in Langley, Virginia, watched a live video feed relaying close-up footage of Baitullah Mehsud, the leader of the Taliban in Pakistan.

‘He could be seen reclining on the rooftop of his father-in-law’s house, in Zanghara, a hamlet in South Waziristan. It was a hot summer night, and he was joined outside by his wife and his uncle, a medic; at one point, the remarkably crisp images showed that Mehsud, who suffered from diabetes and a kidney ailment, was receiving an intravenous drip.

‘The image remained just as stable when the CIA remotely launched two Hellfire missiles from the Predator. Authorities watched the fiery blast in real time. After the dust cloud dissipated, all that remained of Mehsud was a detached torso. Eleven others died: his wife, his father-in-law, his mother-in-law, a lieutenant, and seven bodyguards.’

In her interview, Ms Mayer noted that the use of unmanned aircraft to kill militants had both good news and bad news. According to the CIA, they’ve killed more than half of the 20 most wanted Al Qaeda suspects. The bad news is that they’ve inflamed anti-American sentiment, because they’ve also killed hundreds of civilians.

Palestinians accuse U.S. of killing peace prospects

Oh the Never ending Diplomacy that is the Middle east peace Talks !
Now it is The United States fault that the talks will cease , Not the Ignorance of the Palestinians or even the Israeli's , bitching back and forth for how many years now ?
It is just more of the same , the Middle east will never change , Because the People who live there Don't want it to !

....
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Pointing an accusing finger at the United States, the Palestinians on Sunday said Washington's backing for Israeli refusal to halt Jewish settlement expansion had killed any hope of reviving peace negotiations soon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, buoyed by new-found support from the Obama administration, urged the Palestinians to "get a grip" and drop their settlement freeze precondition for restarting talks suspended since December.

On a one-day Middle East visit on Saturday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton endorsed Israel's view that settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank should not be a bar to resuming negotiations -- contradicting the Palestinian position.

Netanyahu has proposed limiting building for now to some 3,000 settler homes already approved by Israel in the West Bank. He does not regard building in occupied East Jerusalem, annexed in defiance of international opposition, as settlement.

U.S. President Barack Obama himself, after persuading Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in September to meet Netanyahu in New York, called only for "restraint" in settlement, not the "freeze" he had previously proposed.

Stung by Obama's about-face and Clinton's remarks, the Palestinians voiced their frustration.

"The negotiations are in a state of paralysis, and the result of Israel's intransigence and America's back-pedaling is that there is no hope of negotiations on the horizon," Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah said.

He said the Palestinians were calling for the Arab League to formulate a "unified Palestinian-Arab position" on the stalled peace process.

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said it was a "critical moment" and insisted settlement must halt to revive peace moves.

"Pressuring Palestinians to make further concessions to accommodate Israeli intransigence is not the answer," he said.

From the Telegraph:

Megrahi, who is suffering terminal prostate cancer, was sent home to Libya to die after medical experts concluded in a report on July 30 he had just three months left to live. The time span was crucial because only prisoners with three months or less to survive are eligible for release on compassionate grounds.

Within three weeks of the medical examination by Professor Karol Sikora, one of Britain's leading cancer specialists, Megrahi was put on a plane and sent home to Tripoli to die.

But three months on from Prof Sikora's diagnosis, Megrahi is well enough to "walk and talk" and shows no sign of deterioration, according to a senior source involved in his release.

The source told The Sunday Telegraph: "His condition has not deteriorated in three months. He is pretty much in the same way as he was when this all started. He is just as he was. There is nothing that leads anyone to believe he is in any different condition to when he left Scotland."

Megrahi is still in the Tripoli Medical Centre where Scottish and UK authorities keep tabs on him via a weekly telephone call. He has not moved back into his home where the authorities have installed video conference equipment to use in monitoring him. (unh-huh. Like that's going to happen.)

(Do you think maybe the real reason he's alive and kicking because the docs got big bucks from Libya?)

Prof Sikora, who is the medical director of CancerPartnersUK in London, was one of three doctors who visited Megrahi in jail on July 28.

He was paid a one-day consultancy fee by the Libyan government to draw up a report delivered two days later. In an interview in September not long after Megrahi's release, Prof Sikora said he was initially "pessimistic" that the experts could say he would survive any less than a year. But Prof Sikora admitted that the Libyans had encouraged him to conclude that Megrahi had just three months to live following his examination.

"The figure of three months was suggested as being helpful [by the Libyans]," he said. "To start with I said it was impossible to do that but, when I looked at it, it looked as though it could be done – you could actually say that."

While one of the doctors in the team was apparently 'more vague' about putting a limit on Megrahi's life expectancy, a third doctor, Professor Ibrahim Sharif, a Libyan oncologist from the Tripoli Medical Centre, agreed Megrahi had 'about three months'.

Karolsikora_1

< --- The Helpful Professor.

Professor Sikora sounds like the perfect candidate to pass medical judgment on this case. He's just been caught misstating his credentials for 5 years:

The cancer specialist is no stranger to media headlines. This year, he was formally disowned by Imperial College after it was revealed that his online C.V (published on his own website) stated that he was “Professor of Cancer Medicine and honorary Consultant Oncologist at Imperial College School of Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital, London”. As it turned out, that wasn’t quite true.

Imagine that.

Speaking of Moonbat arsonists: Harvard law grad torches 9/11chapel - turns self in.

9-11 memorial chapel He claimed to be acting on a drunken dare. At 8am in the morning? Must have been some night.

9/11 Memorial Chapel before being torched. --->

From the NY Post:

A Harvard law grad surrendered to cops yesterday after allegedly setting fire to an East Side chapel that houses remains of 9/11 victims as part of a drunken dare, sources said.

Brian Schroeder, 26, originally from Texas, walked into the 13th Precinct station house at about 7 p.m. in connection with the blaze at Memorial Park, on East 30th Street.

Charges were pending, police said.

None of the remains, which are destined for a memorial at the World Trade Center, were damaged but "mementos and candles left by family members in honor of 9/11 victims were destroyed or possibly stolen," Mayor Bloomberg said earlier yesterday.

Police sources told The Post they believe Schroeder was acting on a drunken dare, but have no other motive for the offensive oddball act of arson.

"How does someone walk into a place that's supposed to be secure and just light a fire?" asked FDNY Deputy Chief Jimmy Riches, who lost his son and fellow firefighter, Jimmy, in the Twin Towers. "It's beyond me."

The Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the 9 a.m. fire inside the tent, which is operated by the Medical Examiner's Office.

It is not clear how Schroeder, a Duke University grad who had moved to New York recently to accept a position with a law firm, was able to get into the compound, but authorities got a report of a break-in about an hour before the fire.

"I just heard about this and it's hard to grasp. Clearly my prayers are with [Brian]," said a relative of the suspect. "With all my experiences with [him], he didn't have any radical agenda. Nothing but a good person."

No radical agenda? Then I suppose this is a different Brian Schroeder then.

Chaos in City Centre. Anti fascists storm English Defence League protestors

I'm happy to report that Islam-o-blowhard Anjem Choudary and his group Islam4UK had a terrible weekend, not only did their website get pwned they had to back down cancel their Saturday protest calling for Sharia Law in the UK due to "security concerns".

"...fears of brutal reprisals forced British-born Choudary into a last minute U-turn.

The leader of hardline group Islam4UK said: “We were going to face the very real prospect of conflict and confrontation and rioting in Central London. “I don’t care if people are hostile or not but if people are planning on fighting with us and issuing threats to kill and murder us, I had to make a responsible decision.” The climbdown by Choudary – who also heads radical Islamic sect Al Muhajiroun – was hailed a victory for common sense by moderates."

Muslim brothas at Luqman's funeral. Aloha snackbar:

<--- Brothas in arms at the Imam's funeral.

Upset yet content with God’s will, Muslims called for justice Saturday at the funeral of an Islamic leader who was killed by FBI agents in a shootout last week.More than 1,000 packed the Muslim Center in Detroit in a spillover crowd that was at times teary-eyed over the fatal shooting of Luqman Ameen Abdullah, a Muslim leader, or imam, who led another Detroit mosque. One speaker called him a martyr.

Muslims from metro Detroit, Virginia, New York, Philadelphia, and Atlanta attended the hour-long ceremony followed by a burial at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. Free Tarek Mehanna!

Cue the violins!

Prepare yourself for the Islam-o-pity party.

The Mehanna media campaign is in full swing.

I found this post at Freedetainees.org where the claim is made that Tarek was not only blackmailed by the FBI, he was also set up by them for not becoming 'a tool to corroborate any FBI claims or accusations against members of the community that might arise'.

Yes. The noble Tarek 'refused to backstab his Muslim brothers and sisters' so the evil FBI moved in and trapped him.

Wah! The injustice! The inhumanity!

You know - if you just stumbled upon freedetainees.org and had NOT read this you might just go along with their scenario wouldn't you?

It looks like plenty of people are doing just that. There's a Free Tarek petition you can sign (1185 signatures at present).

There's Free Tarek on twitter, on youtube and on Facebook.

And don't forget FreeTarek.com (complete with barbed wire!) which is where you can see things like: Who is Tarek Mehanna? And "Tariq (sic) Mehanna: Obama's latest target".

The FreeTarek.com site is where I also found the video below. Entitled 'Tarek Mehanna's playful cat' - it is actually Tarek tormenting his cat with a laser pointer. It sure cracks him up. (To me, it's borderline animal abuse.)
