Pakistan's central bank said on Wednesday it had received $468 million from the United States in compensation for some of its costs in battling militancy.

May 7

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. officials have told Pakistan it would face “severe consequences” if locally based militants succeeded in attacking the U.S., Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a “60 Minutes” television interview.

Clinton said Pakistan has increased its cooperation with the U.S. in the fight against militants along its border with Afghanistan. Even so, the attempted car bombing of New York’s Times Square has prompted U.S. concerns, she said.

“We’ve made it very clear that if -- heaven forbid -- an attack like this that we can trace back to Pakistan were to have been successful, there would be very severe consequences,” Clinton said, according to excerpts of an interview released today by CBS. The segment will air May 9

Pakistan mosque accused of strong militant ties

And the list of Associates Gets longer .

(Reuters) - The mosque linked to associates of the man accused of the failed Times Square bombing has recruited young men for militant training in the past and may still have links to a banned group, security officials and residents said.

The Bat'ha Mosque, in a lower middle-class neighborhood in the north of Karachi, is often visited by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) leaders, neighbors said, but it tries to conceal its links to the banned group.

"On the face of it, the mosque has no more links with Jaish, but that's not true," said a resident who was once involved in the management of the mosque.

"They are still close and leaders of the group regularly come here to attend congregations," he said.

JeM was formed in 2000 to liberate what it considers Indian-occupied Kashmir but has splintered since then.

It is blamed for numerous attacks against Pakistani civilian and military targets and has also been blamed for the murder of U.S. journalist Daniel Pearl.

It has links to Afghanistan dating back to the war against the Soviet occupation and still recruits and trains thousands of young men to fight Western forces in Afghanistan.

SAS defy orders and rescue captured comrades

I can't believe that SAS commanders in Iraq had to disobey orders from the brass back home in order to save two of their soldiers. Insane...absolutely insane. Daily Mail

The SAS launched a daring mission to rescue two of its own men held hostage in Iraq against the orders of the Ministry of Defence, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The elite unit was pushed to the brink of mutiny after it was banned from saving the SAS soldiers captured by militants because to do so would embarrass the Government.

The astonishing edict drove SAS officers close to mass resignation, according to a hardhitting report by the Tory MP Adam Holloway, a former Guards officer.

CIA to expand Predator drone target list in Pakistan

The CIA announced that it will expand its' list of targets in Pakistan's tribal regions to include targets with a pattern of terrorist activity.

Imagine if this was done under a Republican President, there would have been a major outcry. But, since this was done under a Democratic President, nothing but approving silence. Zee News

Washington: In a dramatic expansion of its drone strikes in Pakistan's restive tribal region, the CIA has received secret permission to attack a wider range of targets, including suspected militants whose names are not known.

The expanded authority, approved two years ago by the Bush administration and continued by President Barack Obama, permits the spy agency to rely on what officials describe as "pattern of life" analysis, using evidence collected by surveillance cameras on the unmanned aircraft and from other sources about individuals and locations, the 'Los Angeles Times' reported.

The information then is used to target suspected militants, even when their full identities are not known, the paper quoted current and former counter-terrorism officials as saying.

Previously, the CIA was restricted in most cases to killing only individuals whose names were on an approved list.

Guess who the NYC car bomber was in contact with?

The taliban chief, the mastermind of the Mumbai massacre, and Awlaki who gave 'spiritual guidance' to Nadal Hussan and the Christmas Day underwear bomber. ABC

ccused Times Square Bomber Faisal Shahzad linked up with the Pakistani Taliban through the internet, ABC News has been told by law enforcement and intelligence sources close to the investigation. Once the Taliban identified him as more valuable in the U.S. than in Pakistan, they trained him to return to execute his bomb attack.

But according to these sources, Shahzad also had a web of jihadist contacts that included big names tied to terror attacks in the U.S. and abroad, including the figure who has emerged as a central figure in many recent domestic terror attempts - radical American-born Muslim cleric Anwar Awlaki.

Besides Awlaki, sources say Shahzad was also linked to a key figure in the Pakistani Taliban, its Emir Beitullah Mehsud, who was killed in a drone missile strike in 2009. The Mehsuds had been family friends of Shahzad, who is the son of a former high-ranking Pakistani military officer.

Ajmal Kasab gets what he gave: Death

Yep ! He gets what he deserves !

The Times of India
MUMBAI: "You have been sentenced to death on four counts. You will be hanged by the neck till you are dead. Yeh hamara tareeka hai (This is our way)," judge M L Tahaliyani told Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, bringing him to justice 17 months after he and his nine accomplices held Mumbai to a 60-hour siege and killed 166 innocent men, women and children.

The mood in the courtroom was sombre. Kasab did not react. He kept his head down and was immediately whisked away after the pronouncement of the sentence. Throughout the afternoon, the baby-faced killer sat absolutely still in the box while the judge gave detailed reasons why it was necessary to give him the harshest possible penalty under the Indian law. "This man has lost the right to get any humanitarian relief," Tahaliyani observed.

The court held that in view of the depravity of Kasab's crimes, any chance of his reform or rehabilitation was "totally ruled out". Describing the 22-year-old Lashkar-trained terrorist as "a menace to society", Tahaliyani specifically alluded to the 1999 Kandahar case in 1999, when an Indian plane was hijacked to free dangerous terrorists who were imprisoned at the time. "Keeping him alive would be a constant danger to government and the state," he said.

Army spy plane picked up Faisal Shahzad's phone calls

It seems like an Army spy plane that was circling above New York City was able to eaves drop on Faisal Shahzad's phone calls. They intercepted his call to Emeriates Airlines and quickly dispatched the FBI to JFK airport to apprehend him. Wired

Investigators were able to track wannabe terrorist Faisal Shahzad through his anonymous, pre-paid cell phone — exactly how, they won’t say. But there was a tantalizing explanation posted — and then quickly yanked — from the website of WCBS TV. “In the end, it was secret Army intelligence planes that did him in. Armed with his cell phone number, they circled the skies over the New York area, intercepting a call to Emirates Airlines reservations, before scrambling to catch him at John F. Kennedy International Airport.”

Jeremy Scahill, relying on a source in U.S. Special Operations, says those planes were likely RC-12s, equipped with a Guardrail Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) system. The planes are designed to pluck all kinds of communications from the air. But from the ground, they could easily be mistaken for an executive aircraft. The RC-12 is based on the Hawker-Beechcraft King Air B200 suit-carrier. And while earlier versions of the aircraft were covered in odd-looking antennas, the latest aircraft are far less conspicuous.[...]

It sucks up everything. We’ve got these things in Jalalabad [Afghanistan]. We routinely fly these things over Khandahar. When I say everything, I mean BlueTooth would be effected, even the wave length that PlayStation controllers are on. They suck up everything. That’s the point,” Scahill’s source tells him.

Comedy Central to develop Mohammed Jesus Christ cartoon

What hypocrites. Comedy Central is developing a cartoon about Jesus Christ, while at the same time they censor everything that has to do with Mohammed on South Park, even the spoken word Mohammend is off limits for them.

I guess the executives at Comedy Central aren't afraid as much of the radical Christian fundamentalists as they are of the radical islamic fundamentalists.

Here's the money quote from a Comedy Central executive...

"In general, comedy in purist form always makes some people uncomfortable," said Comedy Central's head of original programming Kent Alterman.

BWHAHAHA!!! Where was Alterman two weeks ago when Comedy Central censored half of a South Park episode because they were afraid it would make followers of the ROP 'uncomfortable'.

The Hollywood Reporter

As part of the network's upfront presentation to advertisers (full slate here), the network is set to announce "JC," a half-hour show about Christ wanting to escape the shadow of his "powerful but apathetic father" and live a regular life in New York City.

In the show, God is preoccupied with playing video games while Christ, "the ultimate fish out of water," tries to adjust to life in the big city.

"In general, comedy in purist form always makes some people uncomfortable," said Comedy Central's head of original programming Kent Alterman.

Students sent home for wearing t-shirts with American flag on Cinco de Mayo

"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."

The "incendiary" material -->

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal's office.

"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts "incendiary" that would lead to fights on campus.

"They said if we tried to go back to class with our shirts not taken off, they said it was defiance and we would get suspended," Dominic Maciel, Galli's friend, said.

The boys really had no choice, and went home to avoid suspension. They say they're angry they were not allowed to express their American pride. Their parents are just as upset, calling what happened to their children, "total nonsense."

Russians storm hijacked tanker...free captive crew

Here's an update to #1 Infidel's post earlier about the Russian dispatching a warship to free the Russian tanker from Somali pirates.

Russian special forces successfully rescued the Russian crew and in the process killed one pirate and arrested 10 others. Tampa Bay Online

ABOARD THE SWEDISH WARSHIP CARLSKRONA (AP) -- Russian special forces rappelled onto a disabled oil tanker taken over by Somali pirates and freed 23 Russian sailors early Thursday, the commander of the EU Naval Force said. Ten pirates were arrested and one was killed.

The raid on the Liberian-flagged ship Moscow University came 24 hours after pirates had taken the ship over and the crew locked itself in a safe room. The vessel is carrying 86,000 tons of crude oil worth about $50 million.

The special forces had been aboard the Russian anti-submarine destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov, which rushed to the scene after Wednesday's seajacking. A helicopter was dispatched to investigate and was fired on by the pirates, EU Naval Force said. The Russian warship returned fire on the pirates, it said.

Special forces troops on the helicopter rappelled down to the Moscow University, Rear Adm. Jan Thornqvist, force commander of the EU Naval Force, told an Associated Press reporter aboard the warship Carlskrona, which on Thursday was 500 miles (800 kilometers) west of Thursday's rescue and was sailing toward Somali waters.

Somalis hijack Russian tanker, warship dispatched

"Any attempt to rescue the ship will certainly endanger the crew. The ship will be docked at Garacad," Abdi told Reuters by telephone, adding it was too early to talk about a ransom.

A Russian Warship has been sent to deal with this in a passive manner ?

(Reuters) - Somali pirates hijacked a Russian tanker carrying $52 million worth of crude oil and 23 crew on Wednesday, prompting Russia to send a warship to try to deal with the incident, officials said.

Pirates who hijacked the China-bound, Russian-owned MV Moscow University tanker 350 miles off the coast of Yemen warned against any rescue attempt, saying this would endanger the Russian crew.

"A Russian warship is moving toward the tanker," Russian defense ministry spokesman Alexei Kuznetsov said. The Chief of the Russian General Staff cut short a visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels to coordinate the military's response, he added.

The vessel had been traveling under a Liberian flag from Sudan to the Chinese port of Nigbo with 86,000 tonnes of oil owned by Chinese refiner Unipec, a Russian shipping source said. Maritime experts said the tanker had a deadweight of 106,474 tonnes.

"The crew members locked themselves in the radar room. This ship has been hijacked," Commander Rear Admiral Jan Thornqvist of the European Union's Navfor naval force told reporters in the Kenyan port of Mombasa.

One pirate who identified himself as Abdi said the tanker was heading to a pirate haven on the coast of central Somalia.

Administration Faces Criticism for Mirandizing Times Square Suspect

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Tuesday that Shahzad's citizenship should settle the issue.

"This is a U.S. citizen arrested on U.S. soil. He is suspected of committing a crime," Hoyer said. "I think it's pretty-well settled law."

In other words , HML Steny Hoyer , Would think it O.K. if say some Lone wolf style radical Islamists hell bent on their Jihad , were to come to the U.S. , work for their Citizenship , get it , And then commit their fully premeditated crime And then just be considered a U.S. Citizen Who has Committed a crime ! Not an Al Qaida operative or a Taliban Reject ,

Sorry Dumbass but a Terrorist is a Terrorist no matter what you say !

Foxnews
The Obama administration is once again facing criticism for deciding to Mirandize a terror suspect within hours after his arrest, with some officials saying investigators questioning the Times Square bombing suspect didn't need to read him his rights until they got more information.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and other Republicans say Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized U.S. citizen, should have been treated as an enemy combatant out of the gate. Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn, said as far as he's concerned, Shahzad lost his entitlement to Miranda Rights when he was arrested on terrorism charges....

Going forward, Lieberman said he wants to introduce legislation that would strip U.S. citizenship -- and its inherent rights -- from anyone found to be fighting with a foreign terror group.

While lawmakers can do nothing about Shahzad now that he has been read his rights, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Wednesday suggested that if Shahzad is being tried as a U.S. citizen in a civilian court, federal prosecutors should consider charging him with treason -- a crime that carries the death penalty.

"When it comes to an American citizen, they have a responsibility under the Constitution not to betray their country," Graham said. "There's a place for federal court and the charge of treason should always be on the table. No one got killed in this instance, thank God, but if it is proven that this man committed an act of treason against his fellow citizens, I want to keep that charge available to our government."

As a U.S. citizen, Shahzad could still face a military commission if he is found to be linked to Al Qaeda.

Drink, sex, hold hands...What not to do in Dubai

The British Foreign Ministry has published a list of 'don'ts' to help keep Britons out of Dubai jails. Some of the things that the Foreign Ministry is warning Britons from doing are:

Drinking alcohol, drugs, sex, holding hands, dancing, and others. Daily Mail

The Foreign Office warns that drinking alcohol, sharing a hotel room when unmarried and even holding hands could land visitors in trouble because of strict Muslim laws.

Britons are more likely to be arrested in the United Arab Emirates - the federation of which Dubai is a part - than anywhere else in the world.

Britons can find themselves facing charges relating to cultural differences, such as using bad language, rude gestures or public displays of affection.

British nationals should also be aware of the UAE’s strict laws banning sex outside of marriage.

Wearing A Burqa In Italy Could Be Costly

“We think people who come to this country have to live by the rules that are shared by everyone,”

Awesome , Italy sticking it to the Burqa wearing Muslim Women !

Foxnews
While the Belgium Parliament debates a ban on full Muslim veils, a town in northern Italy has already put a ban into practice, fining a woman 500 Euros – more than $650 -- this week for wearing a burqa in public.

“The fine is meant to be expensive; people should know they are risking a big fine,” the Assessor for Public Safety in the city of Novara, Mauro Franzinelli, told Fox News.

Municipal police in Novara, in the northern Piedmont region, fined the Tunisian woman for challenging the city ordinance.

Franzinelli, who helped the mayor of Novara draft the anti-burqa ordinance in January, said immigrants have got to learn to adapt to their new homes. “We think people who come to this country have to live by the rules that are shared by everyone,” he told Fox.

A 1975 anti-terrorism law prohibits people, as a question of public safety, from wearing masks, full motorcycle helmets or other clothing in public places that would keep them from being identified. But courts have made some exceptions for religious reasons, leading some towns in Italy to try to get rid of the loopholes.

In Belgium, the lower house of Parliament recently passed legislation prohibiting full veils in public, and the measure is now scheduled to go to the Senate.

Iranian Leader Questions U.S. Disclosure of Nuclear Arsenal

And day two of the big U.N. NPT Get down in New York , and Iranian Pres, Ahmadinejad , Is still talking his B.S. and really trying to make a point !

Well at least he heard one of our points !

We have at LEAST 5,113 More Nukes than Iran does !

Foxnews
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday questioned the veracity of Pentagon's disclosure on Monday that the U.S. has 5,113 nuclear warheads in its stockpile and "several thousand" more retired warheads awaiting the junkpile.

"Perhaps there should be an independent body to verify what the U.S. government declares," he said at a news conference.

"If the U.S. government expects everyone to trust what it says, it is unfair for the U.S. to not trust what others say," he said.

Ahmadinejad, who is in New York for the state of a monthlong conference reviewing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, again denied accusations that Iran is trying to build a nuclear bomb -- a denial aimed at undermining growing momentum for a new round of Security Council sanctions.

Ahmadinejad said Iran can withstand another round of sanctions and the pressure from the U.S. and its allies. He also said Iran would not withdraw from the Non-Proliferation Treaty like North Korea has done.

(Reuters) - Pakistani police arrested several people on Tuesday in connection with the failed Times Square car bomb attack in New York, security sources said .

"We have picked up a few family members" related to Faisal Shahzad, the chief suspect in the attempted attack, a security official in Karachi said. A friend of Shahzad was also arrested.

Shahzad, a 30-year-old Pakistani-American, was arrested late on Monday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after being removed from a plane as it was about take off for Dubai, U.S. officials said.

Another intelligence official in Pakistan said Shahzad received militant training in northwest Pakistan near the garrison town of Kohat. The area around Kohat is a stronghold of Tariq Afridi, the Pakistani Taliban commander in the region.

The Pakistani government, which could come under renewed U.S. pressure to crack down harder on militants after the Times Square incident, said on Tuesday it would help the United States bring Shahzad to justice

Shahzad will appear in Manhattan federal court later on Tuesday to face charges "for allegedly driving a car bomb into Times Square on the evening of May 1," according to a statement by U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, FBI agent George Venizelos and New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

A British soldier dubbed the Silent Assassin has broken a distance record after taking down two targets from a mile and a half away.

Corporal of Horse Craig Harrison, a British Army sniper, killed two Taliban machine gunners in Afghanistan from a distance of 8,120 feet, Sky News reported.

"The first round hit a machine gunner in the stomach and killed him outright. He went straight down and didn't move," the 35-year-old said of the incident, which took place in November 2009.

"The second insurgent grabbed the weapon and turned as my second shot hit him in the side. He went down, too. They were both dead."

Harrison was nearly 3,000 feet beyond the effective range of his British-built L115A3 Long Range Rifle...

New York City Police Investigate Failed New York City Bombing

Another Homegrown Terrorist group almost pulled one off , in Times Square .
Maybe some Anti-Nuclear Radicals ,Protesting ahead of the big U.N. nuclear talks , over the NPT , Non-Proliferation Treaty !

Foxnews
Local and federal authorities worked Sunday to identify the person or group behind an "amateurish" but potentially powerful bomb planted inside a car parked in New York City's Times Square.

Police found the bomb that apparently began to detonate but did not explode in a smoking sport utility vehicle on Saturday, prompting thousands of tourists to be cleared from the streets for 10 hours while the explosive was dismantled.

"We avoided what we could have been a very deadly event," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. "It certainly could have exploded and had a pretty big fire and a decent amount of explosive impact."

Investigators removed three propane tanks, fireworks, two filled 5-gallon gasoline containers, and two clocks with batteries, electrical wire and other components from the back of the Nissan Pathfinder, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. A black metal box resembling a gun locker was also recovered and will be detonated off site, he said.

(Reuters) - Pakistani warplanes bombed Taliban positions in the northwest on Sunday, killing at least 19 militants, a government official said.

Government forces have stepped up offensives in the Orakzai and Khyber regions on the Afghan border to root out militants waging a campaign to topple the U.S.-backed government of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The military says several hundred Taliban fighters have been killed in the operations but there has been no independent confirmation of that. The Taliban usually dismiss the army's death toll figures.

The latest air strikes in the Okakzai region were carried out in several remote villages after intelligence showed that militants there had been planning attacks, the government official, Asghar Khan, told Reuters.

Children as young as 9 recruited by Somali militants

It seems The big boys have their own thoughts and would rather not play with the Crazy Terrorists , So al Shabaab has to Kidnap/Recruit little boys , To take up the slack !

Foxnews
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Sharif says he was 10 when his religious teacher led his class into a poor neighborhood of Somalia's capital to pray for a sick relative. Suddenly Islamist fighters jumped from the shadows and ordered the children onto buses, the beginning of a terrifying two years as a child soldier.

The class was taken to a training base in the south of the anarchic country, Sharif says, where Somali and foreign instructors showed them how to use weapons and set ambushes. The boy says before battle he was sometimes given drugs that made him feel like he could "pick up a tank and throw it aside like a telephone."

The recruitment of child fighters in Somalia is on the rise, both by the government and particularly by the country's most powerful Islamist militia, al-Shabab, whose name means "the youth." Al-Shabab's recruitment of children may partly stem from a lack of willing adults, who have been alienated by Islamist attacks on traditional Sufi saints and bans on everything from chewing qat, a mildly narcotic leaf, to school bells and music.

"Better informed, smarter, older people are saying they don't want to join" al-Shabab, said E.J. Hogendoorn, a Nairobi-based analyst at the International Crisis Group. "The sad reality with modern infantry weapons is that all you really need is a kid to operate them."

17 Suspected Illegal Immigrants Caught in Search for Ariz. Deputy's Attackers

Not only did Illegal Immigrants shoot a Sheriffs Deputy , While they were Breaking more than A few laws ! They also shot at Police helicopters that were searching for them !
What nice people these Immigrants can be !

Foxnews
PHOENIX -- Authorities have captured 17 suspected illegal immigrants in southern Arizona as they continued their manhunt Saturday for smugglers who they say shot and wounded a sheriff's deputy in a remote desert area 50 miles south of Phoenix.

Three of those captured overnight Friday matched descriptions from the wounded Pinal County deputy and were being questioned Saturday, sheriff's Lt. Tamatha Villar said. The deputy was released from the hospital, and was recovering at home.

The shooting came amid a growing national debate over the state's new law cracking down on illegal immigration. A backlash over the law has erupted, with civil rights activists, concerned it will lead to racial profiling, calling for protests and boycotts.

Criticism of the law was sure to figure prominently at dozens of immigrants rights marches and rallies planned for Saturday across the nation, including one set for the grounds of the Arizona state Capitol.

The new law's passage came amid increasing anger in Arizona about violence, drug smugglers and illegal immigration drop houses. The issue gained renewed attention a month ago when a southern Arizona rancher was shot and killed by a suspected illegal border crosser.

Arizona politicians called Friday's shooting an outrage and urged the federal government to do more to secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

The violence "should show the rest of the country what we Arizonans have known for too long -- the unsecured border poses a very real and very immediate danger," said U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, a Democrat whose district includes part of Pinal County

US issues Iran delegates late visas

Presstv

The United States has finally issued visas for Iranian delegates scheduled to attend next week's United Nations nuclear disarmament conference in New York.

The last-minute issuance came on Saturday, after officials in Tehran condemned Washington's delay in conferring visas to several members of Iran's delegation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki had warned the US administration against taking the Unites Nations hostage.

"Issuing visas for officials from different countries to participate in UN assemblies is an obligation for US authorities not a prerogative,” he said earlier on Saturday.

Explaining the possible reasons behind the delay in the US decision, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Washington preferred the Iranian team not to take part in the conference.
