CIA Paid Iran Nuke Scientist $5 Million

"Anything he got is now beyond his reach, thanks to the financial sanctions on Iran," a U.S. official told the Post. "He's gone, but his money's not. We have his information, and the Iranians have him."

HAHA!
Something was up , and it ends up pretty funny , Iran will deny it along with Amiri , But I still believe he was addicted to Porn !

Foxnews
The Iranian nuclear scientist who claims to have been abducted by the CIA was paid more than $5 million to provide intelligence on Iran's nuclear program, according to a published report.

The scientist, Shahram Amiri, returned to Iran early Thursday where he was given a hero's welcome after claiming he was abducted by U.S. agents and then offered $50 million to stay in the U.S.

The Washington Post reported in its online edition late Wednesday that Amiri worked for the CIA for more than a year before abruptly asking to return home this week. The Post said he was paid $5 million out of a secret program aimed at inducing scientists and others with information on Iran's nuclear program to defect.

The U.S. says he was a willing defector who changed his mind and decided to board a plane home from Washington.

Amiri is not obligated to return the money, the newspaper reported, however he may be unable to access the funds after breaking off "significant cooperation" with the U.S.

"Anything he got is now beyond his reach, thanks to the financial sanctions on Iran," a U.S. official told the Post. "He's gone, but his money's not. We have his information, and the Iranians have him."

The payment of millions of dollars to Amiri appears to bolster the U.S. government's assertion that he was neither abducted nor brought to the country against his will, the Post said. The size of the payment could be a gauge of how valuable the information gleaned from him was to the CIA.

Missing Iranian Nuclear Scientist Defects to U.S.

Remember this Guy ?
well He is now on his way to becoming a U.S. Citizen ,
He will be working at a nuke plant in no time !

Foxnews
>WASHINGTON -- An Iranian nuclear scientist who had been reported missing since last summer has defected to the U.S. and is assisting the CIA in its efforts to undermine Iran's nuclear program, ABC News reported Tuesday.

The scientist, Shahram Amiri, has been resettled in the U.S., according to the report.

The CIA had no comment on the report, a spokesman said.

President Barack Obama said Tuesday he hopes international sanctions against Iran for pursuing its nuclear ambitions will be in place this spring. Iran maintains that its nuclear research is for peaceful purposes and not to develop weapons.

Amiri, who worked at Tehran's Malek Ashtar University, an institution closely connected to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, disappeared last June while in Saudi Arabia on a pilgrimage. While his disappearance led to speculation that he had defected and was assisting the West in its efforts to keep track of Iran's nuclear program, the foreign minister for Iran accused the U.S. of helping to kidnap him.

Citing people briefed on the intelligence operation, ABC News said Amiri's disappearance was part of a long-planned CIA operation to persuade him to defect. The CIA reportedly approached Amiri in Iran through an intermediary who made an offer of resettlement on behalf of the United States, ABC News said.

Amiri has been extensively debriefed since his defection, according to the report, and has helped to confirm U.S. intelligence assessments about the Iranian nuclear program.

About-turn as South Korean "defects" to communist North

This guy was either Drunk , Insane , or his family is being threatened by the Norks .
Why else would you go there ?

....
SEOUL (Reuters) - A South Korean man who worked at Samsung Electronics' semiconductor unit and more recently at a pig farm has defected to the communist North by walking across the heavily mined border, state media said on Tuesday.

Crossings are rare through the razor-wire and land-mined Demilitarized Zone buffer that divides the peninsula. But defections to the impoverished North from the affluent South are even rarer, with the last one likely taking place about four years ago.

The rival Koreas remain technically at war because they never replaced the armistice ending their 1950-53 conflict with a peace treaty.

"He is beside himself with joy for having accomplished this heroic deed," the North's KCNA news agency said. It identified the defector as Kang Dong-rim, 30.

South Korea's military and spy agency could not immediately confirm the report.

"He is now under the warm care of a relevant organ," KCNA said.

Since 2006, more than 2,000 North Koreans a year have defected to the South after crossing the longer and less perilous border with China. More than 16,000 North Koreans have defected to the South since 1953.

In 2005, KCNA said a man sailed through a volley of bullets to defect to the North. The South's military said at the time his family suspected he was drunk.
