Missing Iranian scientist appears at embassy in US

Sounds like somebody is not quite telling the truth on this .

Some more Spy games maybe ?

BBC
A missing Iranian nuclear scientist, who Tehran says was kidnapped a year ago by the CIA, has taken refuge in the Iran section of Pakistan's US embassy.

A spokesman from Pakistan's Foreign Office, Abdul Basit, told the BBC that Shahram Amiri was seeking immediate repatriation to Iran.

In June videos purportedly of Mr Amiri but containing contradictory information on his whereabouts emerged.

The US rejected Tehran's claims that it was behind Mr Amiri's disappearance.

Iranian media say Mr Amiri worked as a researcher at a university in Tehran, but some reports say he worked for the country's atomic energy organisation and had in-depth knowledge of its controversial nuclear programme.

ABC News reported in March that he had defected and was helping the CIA, revealing valuable information about the Iranian nuclear programme.

But earlier this month, Tehran said it had proof he was being held in the US.

The allegation came after three videos purportedly of Mr Amiri emerged - the first said he had been kidnapped, the second that he was living freely in Arizona, and the third that he had escaped from his captors.

SANAA, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Yemeni anti-terror forces have arrested seven suspected members of an al-Qaida-linked sleeper cell in a quarter, adjacent to the U.S. embassy in Sanaa, a higher-ranking security official of Interior Ministry said on Sunday.

The anti-terrorism forces on late Tuesday raided al-Houri house at Sawan quarter, and captured three members of the family Esam, Majid and Kamal al-Houri, the official said on condition of anonymity. One of al-Houri members was reportedly killed in Iraq three years ago, as he was fighting alongside al-Qaida.

The house and the U.S. embassy are all located in Sawan district in Sanaa.

A tip from an observant security officer in the area also led to the arrest of another four suspected members from the same quarter, said the official.

They were captured at a hospital north of the capital, Sanaa. AFP news agency says they include Mohammed al-Hanq, a key local al-Qaeda leader.

The arrests came as the UK and France reopened their embassies in Yemen.

They and the US embassy had been temporarily closed in response to what was described as an al-Qaeda threat.

AFP quoted an unnamed security official saying: "Mohammed al-Hanq and two others who were wounded were captured in a hospital in Amran."

The agency said the local al-Qaeda leader was thought to be behind the security threats that had prompted the embassy closures.

US shuts embassy as al-Qaeda 'plans attack in Yemen'

What the hell do we even have an embassy in Yemen for ?

....BBC
The US has indications that al-Qaeda is planning an attack in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, President Barack Obama's top counter-terrorism adviser has said.

John Brennan was speaking after the US and UK announced their embassies in Sanaa had temporarily closed.

The US has accused a Yemen-based offshoot of al-Qaeda of being behind the alleged Christmas Day bomb attempt on a US jet flying to Detroit.

There are mounting fears that Yemen is becoming a leading al-Qaeda haven.

Mr Brennan, the US Deputy National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, told ABC's This Week TV programme that the group had "several hundred members" in Yemen and was posing an increasing threat there.

"This is something that we've known about for a while," he said. "We're determined to destroy al-Qaeda, whether it's in Pakistan, Afghanistan, or in Yemen."

Mr Brennan added: "We know that they have been targeting our embassy, our embassy personnel."

India warns of danger from Pakistan terrorists

"The international community and indeed the people of Afghanistan face a clear and present danger from the perpetrators of such wanton acts of terrorism and their patrons residing across the border," Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said.

Indian Foreign Secretary, Nirupama Rao, called the taliban and their allies in Pakistan a clear and present danger to the international community. Roa made the statement after he toured the bombed Indian embassy in Kabul.

This was the second time in the past year that the Indian embassy was bombed. After the first bombing, India accused Pakistan's secret service, the ISI, of orchestrating the bombings.

From Reuters

MUMBAI, Oct 11 (Reuters) - India's top diplomat has warned of a clear and present danger to the international community from militants in Pakistan after a bomb attack on the Indian embassy in Kabul that it has hinted may have come from across the border.

Pakistan Denies Links to India Embassy Bombing

For some reason I don't believe them. Voice of America

Pakistan has denied it was behind Monday's suicide car bomb attack outside the Indian Embassy in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Speaking in Malaysia, Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said his country is not interested in destabilizing Afghanistan.

His comment follows the release of an Afghan report Tuesday that says the Kabul attack could not have been carried out without full support of foreign intelligence. In the past, Afghanistan has accused Pakistani agents of being behind several attacks on its soil.

41 Killed at Indian Embassy in Kabul

I wonder if the bombing has anything to do with the land transfer to a Hindu shrine in Kashmir. National Post

KABUL (Reuters) - A Taliban suicide car bomb hit the Indian Embassy in Kabul on Monday, killing 41 people and wounding 141, in an attack Afghan authorities said was coordinated with foreign agents in the region, a likely reference to Pakistan.

Afghanistan has accused Pakistani agents of being behind a number of attacks in recent weeks and Afghan President Hamid Karzai last month threatened to send troops across the border to attack militants there if Pakistan does not take action.

The bomber rammed his car into the embassy just as two diplomatic vehicles were entering the compound.
....
"The target was the diplomatic vehicles. They were trying to get inside the embassy when the suicide car bomber attacked them," he said.

India's military attache was killed, the Indian Defense Ministry said. Two vehicles were destroyed, the embassy gates blown off and buildings inside the compound were badly damaged by the force of the blast, an Indian diplomat said.

"The Interior Ministry believes this attack was carried out in coordination and consultation with an active intelligence service in the region," the Afghan Interior Ministry said.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack.
