Taiwan to hold largest war game in over a year

Looks like things are heating up in the Taiwan Strait.

China has publicity threatened to employ every means it can to punish the US's decision to sell over $6 billion worth of arms to Taiwan, including selling US treasury bonds, and selling weapons to US enemies.

Taiwan is upping the ante by conducting war games that will simulate an invasion by some country...oh...let's say....China. AFP

TAIPEI — Taiwan plans its biggest war games in over a year, the defence ministry said Wednesday, amid simmering tensions over US arms sales to the island which China claims as its own.

The military exercises, codenamed "Han Kuang No 26", will take place in April and involve units from the army, the navy and the air force, a defence ministry official told AFP.

"Among the scenarios, we'll test what would happen if the enemy were to invade Taiwan and how we would seek to nip it in the bud,"
he said, on condition of anonymity.

Man busts wife, mate in porn DVD

Dude.... Courier Mail

A TAIWAN carpenter bought a porn DVD only to find secretly taped motel footage of his wife having sex with his friend, whom the husband later stabbed.

The husband, identified only by his surname Lee, discovered the illicit sex on the DVD in 2002.

The sexual acts apparently had been recorded using a hidden camera and were on a pornographic DVD, titled Affairs with Others' Wives, which the husband bought from a vendor to watch at home.

Lee, who lives in Taoyuan County near Taipei, divorced his wife after viewing the DVD. His friend, a butcher, fled their village.

Toilet snake attack: urban legend comes true?

Ouch ! Wow ! And more reason to look before taking a seat !

TAIPEI (Reuters) - A Taiwanese man became a sitting target for a snake, which bit his penis as sat on the toilet at his rural home, local media reported on Monday.

"As soon as he sat down, he suddenly felt a knife-like pain and reacted instinctively by standing up," the China Times said. "When he looked down, he saw the big snake."

The 51-year-old man, from Nantou County, was under medical care with minor injuries, a director at Puli Christian Hospital said.

"As soon as he has passed the risk of infection, he can go," the director, who declined to be named, said. "A snake's mouth isn't always clean."

Local television images showed the black and yellow reptile, reportedly a species of rat snake, being uncoiled and plucked slowly from the toilet bowl.

Snakes regularly enter rural homes in Taiwan and other sub-tropical regions of Asia.

China pissed over Taiwan arms deal!

For China to be upset with the U.S. over selling stuff to Taiwan just amazes me !
For years China has been secretly building up their Military ,not disclosing the amount they spend on build-up,secret nuclear sub bases, and sure ,countless other items .
They are just miffed that if Taiwan gets some more toys , It might be a little harder to take them over ,If they decide too!

China news
Beijing, Oct.8 : A 6.4 billion dollar deal to sell US arms to Taiwan has ruined years of Chinese efforts to build military trust with the Pentagon.

A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense (MND) said Washington should bear full responsibility for the consequences.

He made the remarks after the US government announced plans on Friday to sell a massive arms package to Taiwan, including 30 Apache attack helicopters and 330 Patriot missiles.

Describing the deal as "reckless", China said the arms sale threatens its national security and harms Sino-US relations.

US media have reported that, in response, Beijing has abruptly canceled a series of military and diplomatic contacts with Washington.

China has notified the US that it will not go forward with several senior-level visits and other military-to-military plans scheduled for November, Marine Major Stewart Upton, a US Defense Department spokesman, said on Monday.

The MND spokesman did not comment directly on the reports, only saying the US move has "severely hampered bilateral military exchanges in various fields, including high-level communication".

He urged the US to keep the promise it made to China on the Taiwan question, cancel the arms sale immediately and cut military connections with the island to avoid damaging peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and Sino-US military relations.

Taiwan: SARS a biological weapon developed by China

Taiwan's security chief, Tsai Chao-ming, accused China of starting the SARS epidemic 6 years ago as part of a biological warfare campaign. However, he did not provide any concrete evidence to support his claims. During the epidemic inside sources from China indicated that SARS was a biological weapon developed by China. Reuters

TAIPEI (Reuters) - Taiwan legislators wearing surgical masks and displaying skull-and-crossbones banners took over parliament's floor on Tuesday after the island's security chief accused China of starting the global SARS epidemic six years ago as part of a biological warfare campaign.

Taiwan National Security Bureau Director-General Tsai Chao-ming told a legislative committee on Monday that sources in China suspected biological warfare, but that conclusive evidence had not surfaced.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome originated in southern China in 2002 and went on to kill hundreds of people around the world -- including about 350 in China -- bringing Asian tourism and air industries almost to a halt.
....
"In the 2003 SARS period, there were deaths and injuries, and in addition China hid the patient count, causing panic in people's hearts," the security bureau said in a statement.

"At that time insider information indicated that SARS was a biological weapon."

"BIOLOGICAL WARFARE"

Tsai told the committee that SARS had "become a biological warfare formula" in China and that the bureau would "continue to monitor the situation," local media said on Tuesday, splashing the story across TV screens and front pages.
