ANSF, ISAF devastate insurgent networks in Logar

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops conducted an operation in Pul-e Alam district, Logar province early this morning that lead to the capture of a suspected insurgent leader.

The operation is the latest success in a targeted campaign against insurgent networks in Logar province over the past four months.

Shortly after midnight, ANSF and ISAF troops entered a compound belonging to Ishmael, an insurgent allegedly responsible for planning the majority of attacks against ANSF and Afghan civilians in Logar over the past twelve months. He was detained after having been given the option to surrender peacefully to the ANSF.

Ishmael wasn't too eager to get his 72 virgin sturgeons.

Ishmael is the fifth major insurgent leader to be removed from Logar this year after operations conducted by ANSF and ISAF against Khanai (March 09), Munib and Shirin Agha (February 09), and Mullah Zahir, who was responsible for the Jan. 17, 2009 Kabul Suicide Vehicle Bourne Improvised Explosive Device.

ISAF, ANSF kill Taliban commander in targeted operation

KABUL, Afghanistan — It has been confirmed this morning that a Taliban commander was killed by ISAF and ANSF forces during a targeted operation in Pol-e Alam district, Logar province overnight.

Muhammed Bobi was killed as a result of a successful joint operation by ANSF and ISAF forces. Bobi was a Taliban Commander who had facilitated suicide bombings against local civilians, ANSF and ISAF troops. He also had a history of involvement in the torture and kidnapping of local civilians and was linked to numerous crimes in the area.

During the joint operation, Bobi was given the option to surrender peacefully, but instead attempted to attack ANSF members. Fortunately, no civilian casualties resulted from his last act of violence. Joint forces ensured that they responded with the minimum force necessary.

10 taliban Scum Killed After Rocket Attack

Ten taliban were killed by artillery and air support after they attacked a base with rockets. ISAF

KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF killed 10 insurgents September 14 near the Kandahar-Kabul highway in Sayed Abad district, Wardak.

Soldiers from Task Force Currahee responded to a rocket attack on a nearby base with artillery and close air support. After positive identification of the insurgents, aircraft engaged the insurgents with gunfire.

In other related news, Afghan Nation Security Forces along with ISAF detained 20 terrorists and killed one in Qaragagh district. ISAF....

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces with ISAF assistance killed one and detained more than 20 insurgents September 14 in Qaragagh district, Ghazni.

ISAF soldiers from Task Force Currahee engaged armed insurgents in the district, killing one in Spin Kholah village.
