Lockerbie Bomber Appears at Pro-Qaddafi Rally

He's not quite dead yet.

"The appearance of Mr. al-Megrahi on our television screens is a further reminder that a great mistake was made when he was released," Hague said. "This was absolutely the wrong thing to do."

But maybe soon, we can only hope.

Foxnews
TRIPOLI, Libya – The former Libyan intelligence agent convicted of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing over Scotland that killed 270 people made a rare public appearance on Tuesday at a rally in support of Muammar al-Qaddafi, a "further reminder that a great mistake was made when he was released," British Foreign Secretary William Hague said.

Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, who returned to a hero's welcome in Libya in 2009 after being released from a Scottish jail after being diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer, appeared on Libyan state television wearing traditional local garb while sitting in a wheelchair at a tribal meeting in Tripoli.

U.K. 'Did All It Could' to Free Lockerbie Bomber

No surprise, it was kinda obvious at the time.

And the piece of shit is still alive.

It seems as long as you are Muslim, you can kill as many people as you want.

Its the Allahu Akbar defense, as you detonate your bombs and kill innocent people just shout Allahu Akbar, you will be seen as a freedom fighter and people will Praise you.

Foxnews
LONDON – Britain's previous government did "all it could" to help Libya win the release of the only man convicted of the Pan Am bombing in Scotland in 1988, though it insisted the decision was made entirely by Scottish officials, Britain's head of civil service said Monday.

However, Sir Gus O'Donnell, the leader of the Cabinet Office, also said he found no evidence that the central government had put any pressure on Scottish authorities to grant the release.

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the only man convicted in the terrorist attack, was granted a compassionate release from a Scottish prison in August 2009 on the ground that he was suffering from prostate cancer and would die soon.

He is still alive.

Cardinal attacks US over Lockerbie bomber reaction

"An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth - that is not our culture in Scotland and I would like to think that the US government, and these states that do still have capital punishment, would learn something from us."

Sorry Cardinal , We just don't like murderous Terrorists , we would prefer they receive a Bullet in their Head instead of a free life and a Hero's welcome .

Regardless of who they are , the people that believe that a Mass murderer should live free among people , is on the same level as the mass murderer , and for a Cardinal to love a murderous Douchebag like Megrahi , and not even think about the Victims or the Families he has Tortured , Makes Him A Bigger Douchebag !

BBC
The leader of the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland has attacked the US over the release of the Lockerbie bomber.

Cardinal Keith O'Brien said the Scottish government was right to free Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi last year on compassionate grounds.

US lawmakers want Scots politicians to explain their decision to a committee, but the cardinal said ministers should not go "crawling like lapdogs".

He said Scotland had a culture of care, while the US was fixed on vengeance.

However, he is still alive after almost a year and the decision continues to provoke anger in the United States, which was home to 189 of the 270 people killed on board Pan Am flight 103 in 1988.

In an interview with BBC Scotland, Cardinal O'Brien said Americans were too focused on retribution.

"In many states - more than half - they kill the perpetrators of horrible crimes, by lethal injection or even firing squad - I say that is a culture of vengeance," he said.

"An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth - that is not our culture in Scotland and I would like to think that the US government, and these states that do still have capital punishment, would learn something from us."

Lockerbie Bomber Could Live Much Longer

It does not help that the very same doctor who said he had 3 months to live , is also saying he has ten years to live now !

I guess he did not get paid enough to keep his mouth shut !

Foxnews
LONDON -- A cancer expert whose medical assessment of the Lockerbie bomber helped lead to his early release has been quoted as saying the Libyan could live for another 10 years.

Last year, Karol Sikora examined Abdel Baset al-Megrahi for Libyan authorities and estimated he had three months to live. Al-Megrahi, who has prostate cancer, was freed from a Scottish prison on compassionate grounds and sent to Libya.

He had been convicted in the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 people, including 180 Americans.

The Sunday Times quoted Sikora, the medical director of CancerPartners UK, as saying al-Megrahi could live another decade.

Sikora is cited as saying: "It is embarrassing that he's gone on for so long."

Good News: Lockerbie bomber missing

Wasn't this douche suppose to die a few months ago?

Update: The terrorist douche has been found alive and well at home.

From Times Online

Mystery surrounded the Lockerbie bomber last night after he could not be reached at his home or in hospital.

Libyan officials could say nothing about the whereabouts of Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, and his Scottish monitors could not contact him by telephone. They will try again to speak to him today but if they fail to reach him, the Scottish government could face a new crisis.

Under the terms of his release from jail, the bomber cannot change his address or leave Tripoli, and must keep in regular communication with East Renfrewshire Council.

Lockerbie Bomber Fiasco: Who woke Chuck Schumer up?

No seriously, where has he been? From the Daily Mail:

Gordon Brown was told last night that he must seek the immediate return of the Lockerbie bomber to Britain.

A senior senator in the United States has written to the Prime Minister to protest that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi's early release on compassionate grounds on August 20 was granted on the assumption he had only three months to live.

Charles Schumer said that period had now elapsed and there was speculation that the severity of the Libyan's condition had been exaggerated.

No shi&, Sherlock. All of a sudden, Chuck is tough on national security. Give me a break.

Lockerbie bomber launches website claiming innocence

This guy can try to convince all he wants , It will not Change our minds !
He is still a terrorist Douchbag !
And Guilty as Hell !

EDINBURGH (Reuters) - Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al-Megrahi launched a website on Friday with the aim of proving his innocence in the 1988 bombing of a U.S. airliner over Scotland in which 270 people died.

The former Libyan agent released information "which he hopes will establish his innocence" on the website, megrahimystory.net, his Scottish lawyer Tony Kelly said.

Scotland's top public prosecutor said she deplored the move. "Mr. Megrahi remains convicted of the worst terrorist atrocity in UK history," Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini said.
....
Megrahi said in the news release issued by Kelly's law firm: "I have returned to Tripoli with my unjust conviction still in place.

"As a result of the abandonment of my appeal I have been deprived of the opportunity to clear my name through the formal appeal process.

"I have vowed to continue my attempts to clear my name. I will do everything in my power to persuade the public, and in particular the Scottish public, of my innocence."

British PM didn't want Lockerbie bomber to die in prison

"Mr Rammell [a Foreign Office Minister] had stated that neither the Prime Minister nor the Foreign Secretary would want Mr Megrahi to pass away in prison"

Britain would rather see terrorists set free than die in prison while it bans people, such as Michael Savage and Geert Wilders, from entering the country because of political speech. Times Online

Abdulati Alobidi, the Libyan Minister for Europe, told how he had warned Bill Rammell, a Foreign Office Minister visiting Tripoli, that Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi should not be allowed to die in a Scottish prison.

"Mr Alobidi confirmed that he had reiterated to Mr Rammell that the death of Mr Megrahi in a Scottish prison would have catastrophic effects for the relationship between Libya and the UK," the note released by the Scottish government said.

"Mr Alobidi went on to say that Mr Rammell had stated that neither the Prime Minister nor the Foreign Secretary would want Mr Megrahi to pass away in prison but the decision on transfer lies in the hands of the Scottish ministers." [...]

Ten letters released by the UK Ministry of Justice and Foreign and Commonwealth Office appeared to back Downing Street in its insistence that no explicit pressure had been applied on the Scottish government to release or transfer al-Megrahi.

But there was plenty of evidence to suggest that the UK tacitly supported such a decision, including what appears to be a U-turn by Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary, who went back on a previous pledge to have al-Megrahi specifically excluded from a prisoner transfer agreement being negotiated with the Libyans.

Also released today were two letters from the Foreign Office, including one from Ivan Lewis, Mr Rammell's successor at the Foreign Office. Mr Lewis also insisted that the final decision would be up to the Scottish government, but encouraged Mr MacAskill, the Scottish Justice Secretary, to consider the Libyan demand for al-Megrahi's release.

Gaddafi's son says Megrahi got no "hero's welcome"

Denial , the islam way ! this guy can not be serious , does he think that nobody in the world watched how Megrahi slowly boarded the plane , like he was on his last leg , and then arrive in Libya , to hundreds of people screaming how much they love him , And damn near pranced off the plane !
This guy , like his Father , is a Moron !

LONDON (Reuters) - Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, the man convicted of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, was not given a "hero's welcome" home, according to the son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Writing in Monday's International Herald Tribune, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi said there had been no official reception to mark Megrahi's return and both state and foreign news media were barred from covering the event.

"The strong reactions to these misperceptions must not be allowed to impair the improvements in a mutually beneficial relationship between Libya and the West," he said.

Saif al-Islam, who accompanied Megrahi on his flight home, denied there had been any quid pro quo on trade and reiterated his conviction that Megrahi was innocent.

Most of those present when Megrahi touched down at Tripoli airport were members of his extended family, he added.

Lockerbie bomber release linked to oil deal:

Again we see "normal" people getting the shaft by those who are the supposed leaders of the masses , and the rich ! All the build up for this meatbag , Megrahi , and his Compassionate release , was just a bunch of B.S , a cover for an oil deal that will line the pockets of the rich (BP)!
A boycott of B.P Should be in order for there part !
And the rest , the voters will take care of them !
The 270 that were killed on flight 103 , never received compassion , Megrahi , deserves a bullet in his head !

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain agreed to include Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al-Megrahi in a prisoner transfer deal with Libya because of "overwhelming interests" shortly before an oil deal was sealed with Tripoli, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The Sunday Times said leaked letters from Justice Secretary Jack Straw undermined government denials of a link between the former Libyan agent's freedom and British trade interests.

Megrahi, 57, was released from jail on August 20 after Scottish authorities said his terminal cancer gave compassionate grounds for him to return home to die.

The British government has distanced itself from the decision, made by Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, which has angered many relatives of the bombing's victims and the United States government, which lost 189 citizens.
Megrahi was the only person convicted of the 1988 bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie that killed 270 people. His rapturous reception in Tripoli has been criticized by the British and U.S. governments.

The Sunday Times said two letters from Straw, dated five months apart, showed he reversed an original plan to exclude Megrahi from a prisoner transfer agreement that was being discussed with Libya.

The paper said the change of heart appeared to be linked to a stalled $900 million oil and gas exploration deal with Libya for British oil giant BP that was ratified a few weeks later.

BP has always denied any link between the deal and the prisoner agreement.

Straw wrote to MacAskill in July 2007 to say he favored excluding Megrahi from the prisoner transfer, an arrangement desired by the Scottish administration which has autonomous powers over most criminal matters.

But by December 2007 he told MacAskill his position had changed.
