YouTube Drops Radical Cleric Awlaki's Videos

Oh how nice, YouTube finally does something good !

American and British officials had been pressuring the Google-owned company to take down the videos, fearing that Awlaki's Internet preaching would radicalize Muslims.

Uh Huh , And this had nothing to do with it,

Check out http://smackdownoftheday.blogspot.com/ and help take more of these Jihadi Jackass's off of Youtube

Foxnews
Popular video-sharing site YouTube has removed videos featuring calls to holy war by an Al Qaeda-linked Muslim cleric after pressure from British and U.S. officials.

YouTube spokeswoman Victoria Grand said the videos by Anwar al-Awlaki violated the site's guidelines prohibiting "incitement to commit violent acts," The New York Times reported Wednesday.

American and British officials had been pressuring the Google-owned company to take down the videos, fearing that Awlaki's Internet preaching would radicalize Muslims.

U.S. joins Yemeni anti-terrorism units to hunt Saudi bomb maker

Maybe something is going on?

Good luck with this though, I think it will be very difficult to do anything in Yemen that will put Al Qaida or any of it's members in harms way !

But you have to start somewhere.

Xinhaunet.com
SANAA, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. team of anti-terrorism experts joined Yemeni anti-terrorism units on Tuesday in a mission to hunt down the suspect behind sending two bomb shipments to the United States last week, a Yemeni official of anti-terror units told Xinhua.

The U.S. team arrived late Monday to help Yemeni counter- terrorism forces to capture the suspect of parcel bombs, who is believed to be a Saudi national bomb maker identified as Ibrahim al-Asiri.

"The mission was also designed to capture the U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was put on hit list by Washington and was trailed earlier Tuesday in absentia by a Yemeni security court in Sanaa for links to terrorist crimes," the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

"The joint mission will be carried out in eastern and southern provinces of Marib and Shabwa, in which U.S. unmanned predators and agents with CIA in the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa will take part," he added.

Yemen in al Qaeda manhunt as U.S. preacher appears in tape

HuH?
Not getting my hopes up for this.
it is a safe bet that Anwar im-alacki is well shrouded by his Al Qaida "Buddies".

But it is nice to Know that some of his Buddies are helping Yemini security forces look for him .

Hopefully some good news soon.

(Reuters) - Yemen said on Sunday it had launched a manhunt for al Qaeda in its southern Shabwa province, the same day a U.S.-born Muslim cleric sought by Washington and thought to be hiding in that area appeared in an online video.

Late on Saturday, U.S.-based terrorism monitoring service SITE Institute released a video tape showing Anwar al-Awlaki sitting at a table in traditional Yemeni garb and delivering a religious lecture in Arabic.

Yemeni security forces and local tribes began combing the mountainous Said district in Shabwa for al Qaeda militants on Saturday morning, a security official in Shabwa told Reuters.

Members of Awlaki's own tribe were helping with the search, the official said.

The Shabwa governor and the Awlaki clan have signed a deal under which they would "expel al Qaeda elements from their territories and mount a joint operation with the army (to do so)," he added.

Draw Muhammad' Cartoonist Goes Into Hiding

Hmmmm , Apparently there must be a credible threat in order for Molly Norris to go into hiding , it would not be surprising knowing how Islamic extremists are .

Anwar al-awlaki...

"assassinations, bombings and acts of arson" are all legitimate forms of revenge against the creators of blasphemous depictions of Muhammad.

Foxnews
The Seattle cartoonist whose work sparked the controversial "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day!" has gone into hiding at the advice of the FBI after being targeted by a radical Muslim cleric, according to the newspaper that published her comics.

Molly Norris has moved and changed her name, the Seattle Weekly said Wednesday, after U.S.-born Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki placed her on an execution hit list. Awlaki -- who has been linked to the botched Times Square bombing and cited as inspiration for the Fort Hood massacre and a plot by two New Jersey men to kill U.S. soldiers -- reportedly called Norris a "prime target" for assassination and that her "proper abode is hellfire."

"You may have noticed that Molly Norris' comic is not in the paper this week," Seattle Weekly Editor in Chief Mark Fefer wrote Wednesday. "That's because there is no more Molly."

"The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, 'going ghost': moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity.

Intel Memos Warn Radical Cleric's Call to Kill Americans May Inspire Attacks

The intelligence note said the cleric's statements are escalating and becoming more extreme, though he is now on the CIA's kill-or-capture list.

"Being on the list is like encouragement to these rejects "

Just another reason to make sure any Al Qaida Operatives found in the field (Anywhere) are killed .

Foxnews
Two new intelligence memos obtained by Fox News point to increasing alarm over radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki's recent call to kill American civilians.

Awlaki is the American-born cleric residing in Yemen who has been tied to the Fort Hood shooting last fall, the Christmas Day jet bombing attempt and the attempted Times Square car bombing in May. The two intelligence documents, which are for official use only, describe how the cleric's escalating rhetoric could attract dangerous followers inside the United States.

The first memo, which refers to the cleric as Aulaqi, was written by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis and dated May 26. It warned that the cleric could "inspire" groups to launch terror attacks.

"The FBI and DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis are concerned that Anwar Aulaqi's support for violence against U.S. military and civilian targets could inspire terrorist groups or individuals to conduct attacks in the United States," the memo said. "The FBI and DHS/I&A encourage reporting of suspicious activity to appropriate authorities and encourage our homeland security, military and law enforcement partners to remain vigilant."...

The intelligence note said the cleric's statements are escalating and becoming more extreme, though he is now on the CIA's kill-or-capture list.

A separate intelligence memo, obtained by Fox News, confirms what is now the widely-held belief that Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula or Al Qaeda in Yemen has set its sights on the West. The document from Intelink, which disseminates information across the intelligence community, stated that the failed Christmas Day bombing indicates "the group is also prepared to strike directly at the West itself, and to operate beyond the Arabian Peninsula for the first time."

"As such, the current incarnation of AQAP is likely to pose a significant threat within the region and beyond, at least in the short to mid-term," the memo said.

America's Osama Bin Laden captured and released back in 2002

Anwar al-Awlaki, the imam who preached to 3 of the 9/11 hijackers, Nidal Hassan the Fort Hood shooter and the crotch bomber, was in FBI custody in 2002 on felony charges but was released. Apparently the Saudis pushed for his release.

Un-freaking-believable. Who in their right mind would bow to Saudi pressure when it concerns national security? Our leaders say we are war with radical islam, al Qaeda, whatever but treat the problem as a petty criminal matter.

Douchebag we let go in 2002 because of Saudi pressure -->

NY Post

Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical Muslim imam who ministered to at least three 9/11 hijackers, the Fort Hood shooter and the crotch-bomber, was taken into custody at JFK Airport on a felony arrest warrant in 2002.

Even though Awlaki had been on the FBI's radar for years, he was let go, most likely because of intervention by Saudi Arabia, classified documents and interviews reveal. Now he continues to train new "martyrs" in Yemen.

"We were stunned" that he was let go, said Ray Fournier, a federal agent who has been tracking Awlaki as part of a joint terrorism task force. "He was a high-value target. Everybody was excited about the prospect of hooking this guy up under a [criminal] charge to motivate a conversation with him regarding his relationship with the [9/11] hijackers."

Ft. Hood Jihadi's favorite Imam - Anwar al Awlaki - dead?

Anwar al awlaki The thought of this makes me so happy I could ululate.

From Fox News:

The radical Muslim imam linked to the rampage at Fort Hood reportedly is believed to have been killed in a Yemen airstrike that may have also taken out the region's top Al Qaeda leader and 30 other militants.

The raid in Yemen's east targeted an Al Qaeda leadership meeting held to organize terror attacks. U.S. officials believe radical cleric Anwar Awlaki was "probably" one of dozens of militants killed in the strike, a source confirmed to FOX News.

"Awlaki is suspected to be dead [in the air raid]," Reuters quoted an unnamed Yemeni official as saying.

The head of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, Nasser al-Wahishi and his deputy, Saeed al-Saudi Shahrani, were present at the meeting and are believed to have died, but their deaths could not immediately be confirmed.

"The raid was carried out as dozens of members of Al Qaeda were meeting in Wadi Rafadh," a source told AFP, referring to a rugged location about 400 miles east of the capital.

"Members of the group's leadership, including Saad al-Fathani and Mohammad Ahmed Saleh al-Omir, were among those killed," he was quoted as saying.

Merry Christmas, Major Hasan.

About those 5 missing DC Muslim men... links to al Qaeda and Ft. Hood Jihadi?

Connecting the dots...

Apparently the group was turned down by al-Qaeda because they lacked references from 'trusted militants'? Hmm. Is there such a thing as a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for terrorists? And does that mean you now have to prepare a resume for an al Qaeda job?

From the AP:

Five young American Muslims arrested in Pakistan met with representatives of an al-Qaida linked group and asked for training but were turned down because they lacked references from trusted militants, a Pakistani law enforcement official said Thursday.

Regional police chief Javed Islam said the men wanted to join militants in Pakistan's tribal area before crossing into Afghanistan and said they met with a banned military organization, Jaish-e-Mohammed in Hyderabad, and with representatives of a related group, Jamat-ud-Dawa, in Lahore.

Another law enforcement official, Usman Anwar, the local police chief in the eastern city of Sargodha, told The Associated Press that the five are "directly connected" to the al-Qaida terrorist network.

"They are proudly saying they are here for jihad" or holy war, Anwar said.

From Newsweek:

According to one of the sources, the family of at least one of the detained men attends the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque, located in a Virginia suburb of Washington; the mosque was also once attended by Maj. Nidal Hasan, the accused Fort Hood shooter.

Please note:

NEWSWEEK correspondent Yousafzai reports that police said all the arrested men were being held on terrorism charges. Taliban sources told Yousafzai that more than one of of the suspects originally spent time in Al Qaeda's camps but quit the Afghan-Pakistan border area after Pakistan's Army began its recent offensive against the Taliban.

How the Ft. Hood jihadi's terror imam got away - an update.

Mind-blowing and unbelievably frustrating.

From the Denver Post:

A Muslim cleric who communicated with the Army psychiatrist accused in the Fort Hood shootings was charged with passport fraud in Colorado in 2002. [...] U.S. Attorney David Gaouette (GOW-ette) in Denver said al-Awlaki was charged with passport fraud after a California agent discovered al-Awlaki lied on a 1990 Social Security application. The imam said he was born in Yemen, instead of Las Cruces, N.M., where he was born in 1971.

But federal prosecutors said Wednesday they dismissed the charge before the cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, could be arrested because they learned the charge was invalid.

Here's how:

"... Gaouette says prosecutors dismissed those charges a few months later after learning that a Social Security number al-Awlaki used to obtain the passport was valid.)

Here's why:

But after the charge was filed, Gaouette said, prosecutors discovered that al-Awlaki had corrected his place of birth with the Social Security Administration and that his passport application was therefore proper. A 10-year statue of limitations on charges of lying to the Social Security Administration had expired, so prosecutors had no case against the imam.

FYI - The reason he listed his birthplace as Yemen when he filed for this Social Security application? He wanted to be eligible for a foreign student visa. Now, why would he want to do that? FINANCIAL AID.

They discovered that the U.S.-born cleric attended Colorado State University in the early 1990's on an F-1 foreign student visa, stating on the visa application that he was actually born in Yemen and not New Mexico. This enabled authorities to charge Awlaki with passport fraud, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Man, there is steam coming out of my ears, but you know what really ticks me off? If the charges were so invalid then why did the federal prosecutors in Colorado go on to say this?

And even if the passport charge had been pursued, a prosecutor who was among those who called for the dismissal says the imam was unlikely to face much jail time if convicted.

How much jail time according to recent Obama appointee, Gaouette? "Six months, at the most."

That's it? That's all they've got? You have got to be kidding me!

File this one under Reason # 3989 that treating terrorists as ordinary criminals just does not work.

How the Ft. Hood Jihadi's terror Imam got away...

Anwar al awlaki Anwar al Awlaki, the one that got away. ---->

From ABC News:

A felony arrest warrant for radical Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki was rescinded in 2002 a day before he was intercepted as a terror suspect at New York's JFK airport, forcing authorities to release him, according to sources familiar with the case.

The warrant was cancelled by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Denver, even though Awlaki was on a terror watch list, and even though the office's supervising prosecutor for terror cases -- who has now been named by President Obama as the new U.S. Attorney in Denver -- had been fully briefed on Awlaki's alleged terror ties, according to investigators.

Gaouette <--- U.S Attorney David Gaouette.

And now this joker says he doesn't know nothin' about nothin'. Nobody else does either.

"The agent says the supervisory assistant U.S. Attorney on the case, David Gaouette, had been fully briefed on Awlaki's suspected terrorism ties. At the time, Gaouette oversaw all terror cases in the Denver-based District of Colorado, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office.

Gaouette, an assistant U.S. attorney since 1989, was appointed this August by President Obama as the U.S. Attorney for Colorado. When asked why Awlaki's arrest warrant had been rescinded, a public affairs officer said Gaouette was unfamiliar with the particulars of the Awlaki case, and would have to research it before he could comment. Gaouette's office did not reply to a request for a copy of the Awlaki arrest warrant. The clerk's office for the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado was also unable to provide a copy of the warrant, citing the age of the case and the fact that the warrant was rescinded."

I'm mad as hell, too.

"Investigators are mad as hell," said Paul Sperry, "and they have a valid point in asking whether a dozen soldiers would be alive today if they'd been allowed to put the screw to Awlaki when they had the chance."
