Smuggling , Money laundering , stealing encryption devices made for the Military .
Yeah 45 years might do the trick for this one , but I bet he gets a lighter sentence !
(Reuters) - A U.S. jury convicted a Chinese national of trying to illegally smuggle to China sensitive communications gear used by the U.S. military and intelligence agencies, the Justice Department said on Wednesday.
Chi Tong Kuok, from Macau, China, was convicted on four counts related to attempting to have the equipment sent to Macau and Hong Kong. The equipment included an encryption device for Internet communications for the U.S. military made under contract by the National Security Agency, prosecutors said.
Additionally, he tried to buy a GPS device used by the U.S. and NATO militaries and a device used by American and NATO forces to load encryption software into their communications devices, they said.
U.S. law bans the export of such devices without permission from the State Department.
A San Diego jury convicted Kuok on all four counts late on Tuesday, including conspiracy to violate U.S. export laws, smuggling, and money laundering. He could face up to 45 years in prison. Sentencing has been scheduled for August 23.

3 American Iranians charged with plotting to smuggle nuke parts to Iran
Three men have been charged with plotting to smuggle parts, that could be used for building nukes, to Iran. La Times
Three men, including an Iranian-born chemical engineer living in Glendale, have been charged in a scheme to smuggle sophisticated industrial components into Iran that could be used in the development of a nuclear weapon, authorities said Wednesday.[...]
Authorities allege that the men were attempting to smuggle high-grade vacuum pumps and other items into Iran in violation of federal trade laws and U.S. sanctions against the country. Investigators’ suspicions were heightened by the great lengths to which the defendants went to hide their alleged activities.
“These were educated men,” said Louis Rodi, a top supervisor in the Los Angeles ICE office. “These individuals knew what they were doing.”

Iranian busted for trying to smuggle US weapons to Mullahcracy
H/T: GM (RoA's Iran expert) who wrote to me:
This is very informative: (a) The Mullahcracy is determined that there will be a war (b) Apparently the Chinese, Korean and Russian systems that the regime has procured are substandard otherwise the regime wouldn't be so desperate to bring back to life old American equipment from Shah's era.
U.S. authorities revealed today that an international sting operation resulted in the apprehension of Amir Ardebili, an Iranian arms dealer who was smuggling American weapons to his native country. U.S. authorities say he was working for the government of Iran More... Ardebili believed that he was helping to prepare for war between American and Iran.

Germans bust Hizbollah cocaine smuggling ring
German authorities have busted a cocaine smuggling ring they suspect is funneling money to Hizbollah.
This is just another example of a terrorist group selling drugs to infidel states in order to raise money for the jihad. The Local
German investigators are uncovering the drug-smuggling business of the Syrian-backed Lebanese militant organisation Hezbollah, moving cocaine from Beirut into Europe via Frankfurt airport.
A report in Der Spiegel magazine this weekend said initial suspicions that Hezbollah was raising funds by smuggling cocaine were raised in May 2008 when around €8.7 million in cash was found in the luggage of four Lebanese men at Frankfurt airport.[...]
The magazine says the suspicion is that family members have been regularly moving millions of euros raised in the European cocaine trade, via Frankfurt to Beirut. Those receiving the money in Lebanon are said to be members of a family with contacts with the highest levels of Hezbollah command including leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Costa Rica latest stop for Mexican drug gangs
Again the U.S. fault , one day these Douchbags will realize it is their people that are doing the Smuggling and that it would be more their problem to "Fix" than ours !
....ReutersCosta Rican police have seized close to 93 tonnes of cocaine between 2006 and 2009, nearly twice the amount the Central American country captured in the previous decade, according to Interior Ministry data.
"We are punished by our geography," Arias said, citing the growing trafficking activity as a major public security issue.
"I believe the United States has to make a much bigger effort to spend more in cutting down on (cocaine) consumption," he told a news conference.
Maybe so , But should the U.S. Always take the blame for what the Derelicts do in poor , underdeveloped , third world countries ?
Maybe they should "Make a much Bigger Effort " Combating the rejects who are smuggling the drugs !
Costa Rica sits halfway between the cocaine-producing Andes and Mexico, whose powerful cartels earn some $40 billion a year smuggling the drug to the United States and other developed countries.
Traffickers traditionally moved cocaine through Central America by plane or boat. They now are well implanted in Guatemala and also are using storage bases in Costa Rica, a nation long known as a haven of stability in a region blighted by street gangs and poverty.
"They're storing it here," said Public Security Minister Janina del Vecchio. "Now, they don't even have intermediaries but instead have Colombians here who leave the drug and the Mexican (cartels) pick it up."
