And the Muslims in Australia will burst with violent anger if this law gets
passed.
It defies common sense, it is the smart thing to do, that is why Muslims are so upset.
You can't hide behind your religious beliefs and expect to be treated civilly.
But for some reason Muslims can't see that, they have no tolerance for common sense.
Islam the religion of Stupidity.
Foxnews
CANBERRA, Australia -- Muslim women would have to remove veils and show their faces to police on request or risk a prison sentence under proposed new laws in Australia's most populous state that have drawn criticism as culturally insensitive.
A vigorous debate that the proposal has triggered reflects the cultural clashes being ignited by the growing influx of Muslim immigrants and the unease that visible symbols of Islam are causing in predominantly white Christian Australia since 1973 when the government relaxed its immigration policy.
Under the law proposed by the government of New South Wales, which includes Sydney, a woman who defies police by refusing to remove her face veil could be sentenced to a year in prison and fined $5,900.
The bill -- to be voted on by the state parliament in August -- has been condemned by civil libertarians and many Muslims as an overreaction to a traffic offense case involving a Muslim woman driver in a "niqab," or a veil that reveals only the eyes.
The government says the law would require motorists and criminal suspects to remove any head coverings so that police can identify them.
Critics say the bill smacks of anti-Muslim bias given how few women in Australia wear burqas. In a population of 23 million, only about 400,000 Australians are Muslim. Community advocates estimate that fewer than 2,000 women wear face veils, and it is likely that even a smaller percentage drives.

Proposed Australian Law Would Make Muslim Women Lift Veil
Tuesday, July 5, 2011
Australian police get power to demand removal of burqas
An absolute no brainer, you can't go around breaking the law and expect to keep your face covered.
Extreme Muslim outrage the first time this is enforced in 3 2 ...
Dawn.com
SYDNEY: Police in the Australian state of New South Wales have been handed broad-based powers to demand the removal of burqas and other face veils so they can identify people suspected of committing a crime.
The state government approved the move late Monday after the recent case of a Muslim woman who was acquitted when a judge decided she could not be identified because was wearing a burqa.
“I don’t care whether a person is wearing a motorcycle helmet, a burqa, niqab, face veil or anything else, the police should be allowed to require those people to make their identification clear,” Premier Barry O’Farrell said.
The move follows the high-profile case of Carnita Matthews, who in November 2010 was sentenced to six months jail for falsely accusing police of forcibly trying to remove her burqa when she was stopped for a traffic offence.

Five Australians jailed for jihad plot
Should have been Life sentences , But 23 to 28 years is better than nothing .
Hopefully they don't have a get out early for good behavior policy .
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Five Australian Muslims found with weapons and chemicals to make bombs and convicted of plotting a terror attack in Australia were jailed on Monday for terms ranging from 23 to 28 year.
The men were found guilty in October 2009 of conspiring to commit an attack between July 2004 and November 2005 in retaliation for Australia's involvement in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
During a 10-month trial, the prosecutor told the New South Wales state Supreme Court that the men obtained instructions on how to make pipe bombs capable of causing large-scale death and destruction and literature which glorified the actions of al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

A reverse honor killing down under?
You usually hear of muslim women being killed by family members for converting from islam or for dating a non-muslim. But in this case the muslim woman allegedly killed her mother and attempted to murder her father after they disapproved with her relationship and decision to convert to Christianity.
Is this a case of a preemptive honor killing? Sydney Morning Herald
A man has told a court he had vowed to disown his daughter if she turned to Christianity in a dispute before she allegedly blindfolded her parents and fatally stabbed her mother.
Kaihana Tahseen Hussain, now 20, is on trial in the Supreme Court in Brisbane charged with her mother's murder.
Shaheda Hussain, 41, died after an attack at the family's rented unit in Southport on the evening of October 9, 2006.
Kaihana Hussain has pleaded not guilty to the murder of her mother and the attempted murder of her father.
It's previously been alleged she attacked her parents because they wouldn't let her move to Sydney to be with her boyfriend or allow her to convert from Islam to Christianity.

Remember Sabi - the bomb sniffing dog gone MIA in Afghanistan?
It looks like there's more to her story:
From the Daily Mail:
An Australian bomb-sniffing dog lost and then found in Afghanistan had been 'adopted' by a Taliban leader who tried to trade her for money. Sabi the black Labrador hit the headlines when she was discovered miraculously after going missing in action for 14 months. The dog's recovery was announced by the Australian Defence Force on November 11, the day Prime Minister Kevin Rudd visited Australian troops at their base in Tarin Kowt, in Oruzgan Province.
The story was that she was recovered by a U.S. special forces soldier called 'John', who retrieved her from an unnamed man in an unnamed part of north-eastern Oruzgan. 'John' was said to have thanked the man and shaken his hand, as the dog had obviously been well looked after.
But when tribal elders heard of Sabi's meeting with the Prime Minister, they started filling in some of the gaps.
They told Martine van Bijlert, a Kabul-based political analyst and former Dutch diplomat, that Sabi ended up in the hands of Mullah Hamdullah, a minor Taliban leader in Khas Oruzgan district. Hamdullah was very proud of the dog and showed her around everywhere, according to elders' accounts.
But the Australians wanted their dog back. When Hamdullah's father was arrested, they made it known that they would do a dad-for-dog swap. Hamdullah didn't think it was a fair trade and refused. Eventually the foreign troops let the older man go, while Sabi remained in Taliban hands.
When Hamdullah tired of the dog he sent a local elder to a nearby military base to do a dog-for-dollars deal. Since the Australians don't have a base in Khas Oruzgan, the negotiations appear to have been conducted with Americans.
Read the rest here.

A real tragedy: Amanda Lindhout and Nigel Brenan still held captive
Compared to Rusty's post, this is a real tragedy. Canadian journalist Amanda Lindhout and Australian photojournalist Nigel Brenan have been held captive by al Shabaab for over 14 months. Initally, al Shabaab demanded $2.5 million for their release but since then have lowered their demands down to $100,000.
Lindhout and Brenan have recently been moved from Mogadishu to a remote location some 120 km south of Somalia's captital. Al Shabaab feared that Canadian authorities were tracking the whereabouts of Amanda and Nigel.
Al Shabaab have seriously mistreated their hostages to say the least. It has been reported that Amanda Lindhout was impregnated after being raped multiple times. To add insult to injury the terrorists named Amanda's baby Osama.
Now this is a real tragedy. I pray for the safety and well being of Amanda and Nigel and for them to return safely home to their families.

Australia lists al Shabaab as a terrorist organization
From Bloomberg
Aug. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Australia today listed Somali Islamist militia al-Shabaab as a terrorist organization, after five men allegedly linked with the group were charged with planning a suicide attack on an army barracks near Sydney.
Foreign Minister Stephen Smith issued a special notice outlawing the group, following advice from security agencies that al-Shabaab is either “directly or indirectly engaged in, preparing, planning, assisting or fostering terrorist acts,” the government said in a statement. [...]
Australian police say the group is linked to a plot to storm the Holsworthy Barracks in western Sydney with automatic weapons and kill as many soldiers as possible. Five men, aged between 22 and 33, most of Somali and Lebanese descent, were charged earlier this month with preparing an act of terrorism and will face court again on Oct. 26.

Australian troops capture 4 taliban leaders
"The psychological impact of the loss of these leaders on the Taliban network is also not to be understated. ABC News
The Defence Force says it has captured four Taliban leaders in Afghanistan who have been involved in setting makeshift bombs targeting foreign troops.
The Chief of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Mark Evans, says the capture will help prevent attacks against Coalition forces during elections later this month.[...]
In the operation conducted last weekend, four Taliban leaders were captured by Afghan national security forces and Australian-led coalition elements in a major sweep of the Muzazai and Kushkel districts near Tarin Kowt.
There were several small skirmishes but no Afghan or coalition forces were wounded during the engagement.
"The operation has achieved a significant effect for the people in central and eastern Uruzgan province by removing dissident elements, and this will assist in facilitating the conduct of peaceful elections," Lieutenant General Evans said.
"The psychological impact of the loss of these leaders on the Taliban network is also not to be understated.

Australian convert to islam admits plotting to kill thousands
Yet another case of an islamic convert getting the wrong idea about islam. AFP
MELBOURNE — An Australian convert to Islam on Tuesday admitted being part of a terror cell that plotted to kill thousands of people by bombing major sports events, just moments before his retrial.
Shane Kent, 33, pleaded guilty to being a member of a group led by radical Islamic cleric Abdul Nacer Benbrika, who told his followers they could kill women and children in the pursuit of holy war.
Kent also admitted involvement in the cell's plans for a bomb attack on sports events including the Australian Football League's (AFL) 2005 Grand Final, which attracted some 92,000 fans and a TV audience of millions.

Austalian SAS 'assassinate' Taliban leader

Who dares wins.
From The Australian
AUSTRALIAN special forces have taken part in a targeted assassination of a senior Taliban leader, an operation army commanders claim will disrupt the insurgents' campaign in southern Oruzgan.
Mullah Noorullah was killed in a combined operation involving coalition troops and Australian special forces, Defence said yesterday.
It did not say when Noorullah was killed but did say the incident occurred in Deh Rafshan district in southern Oruzgan, where the Australian Special Operations Task Group is based.[...]
The statement was vague about Noorullah's position within the Taliban hierarchy, but it claimed he had been involved in an April 12 attack on Australian reconstruction and mentoring soldiers, in which four insurgents were killed.

Australian Troops in major battles with taliban
Taking the fight to the taliban. Your Defense News
Australian Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) and the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force (MRTF) have been involved in major combat operations against Taliban insurgents during operations which began in March.....
SOTG operations supported coalition force operations in Helmand province which has taken Taliban insurgents by surprise and left their operations in north Kajaki in disarray.[...]
"The SOTG were in the field, deep inside a Taliban stronghold for 26 days. They were involved in 11 major contacts with Taliban insurgents that resulted in significant disruptions to Taliban activities."[...]
"On the first of April, Australian troops entered an area that was considered an insurgent stronghold and came under heavy and sustained contact with the Taliban. It was a day-long series of attacks through 12 compounds. Australian forces responded aggressively against the attackers and while the Taliban were determined in their actions, they were seriously routed."
During a recent operation near Karakak, approximately 12 kilometres north of Tarin Kowt, the MRTF encountered a large number of Taliban insurgents while conducting security support for an Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT) patrol.
The Taliban attacked the elements of the MRTF using small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades during the intense contact. Dutch helicopters and US aircraft were called to provide close air support against almost 40 insurgents.
The Commanding Officer of the MRTF, Lieutenant Colonel Shane Gabriel said the MRTF responded immediately and took the fight to insurgents, regaining the initiative.
"This was a very significant action. It resulted in numerous insurgent casualties and it has pushed them back from an area where they enjoyed relative freedom of action,"
"It has put a very big hole in their plans," LTCOL Gabriel said. Operating near-by, the attack drew support from SOTG elements which blocked the withdrawing Taliban. The SOTG came into contact with approximately ten insurgents. During the extended contact a number of Taliban were killed and a large weapons and IED cache were found. These were subsequently destroyed.

Islamic school would breed terrorists
Residents of a small town outside of Sydney protested the proposal to build a mosque in town. The residents argue that the mosque "would teach war and how to kill."
Not everyone is willing to lay down to the growing threat of islam. Brisbane Time
AN Islamic school in Camden would be "a breeding ground for terrorists", says a resident who gave evidence in support of Camden Council at an appeal against its decision to block the school.
Judith Bond said the school would teach war and how to kill.
"Values of violence will be emphasised. It will be a breeding ground for terrorists … There will be a surge of gang rapes, looting and attacking infidels," Ms Bond said.[...]
The area's Christian values were threatened by the proposal, said another resident, John Waterhouse, who warned Christmas decorations and nativity scenes would be "pulled down or withdrawn on some sort of process of religious nit-picking".
Describing Camden as "the mouse that dared to roar", he said he did not want prayer mats unrolled in shops or "[our] teenage daughters subjected to demeaning taunts wearing jeans, shorts or T-shirts".

Australian Special Forces Kill Taliban Commander

From Bloomberg
April 1 (Bloomberg) -- Australian special forces killed a senior Taliban insurgent involved in organizing suicide attacks and training foreign fighters in Afghanistan, the Department of Defence said today.
Mullah Abdul Bari coordinated bomb attacks on international and Afghan forces in the southern province of Uruzgan, the department said in a statement. Bari was killed in a recent operation by Australian and Afghan National Army troops, it said, without elaborating.
“His weapons of choice were roadside bombs and suicide bombers, and his death means that Taliban insurgents operating in the region have lost one of their key facilitators,” Chief of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Mark Evans said.

Muslim cleric gets 15 years
Fifteen years for the cleric but only 4 to 7 and a half years for his followers. These guys should at least get double the time. AFPMELBOURNE, Australia (AFP) — A Muslim cleric and six followers were jailed for up to 15 years Tuesday for forming an Australian terror cell that plotted bomb attacks designed to kill thousands.
"The organisation fostered and encouraged its members to engage in violent jihad -- to perform a terrorist act," judge Bernard Bongiorno told Victoria state's Supreme Court after Australia's biggest terrorism trial.
Firebrand cleric Abdul Nacer Benbrika, 48, was jailed for 15 years, of which he must serve at least 12 years, while his followers received minimum terms of between four and seven-and-a-half years.
Algerian-born Benbrika had urged them to target large crowds at sports matches or a train station to pressure the Australian government to withdraw its soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan, the court heard.
Benbrika had said it was "permissible to kill women, children and the aged," prosecutors said. Material seized from the group included bomb-making instructions and video tapes with messages from Osama bin Laden.
The men referred to themselves as mujahedeen, or holy warriors, and considered violent jihad an integral part of their religious obligations, said Bongiorno.

Somalis reduce ransom for Amanda Lindhout and Nigel Brennan
Last week the Somali fixer who had been kidnapped along with Amanda Lindhout and Nigel Brennan was released. Now the kidnappers have reduced their initial ransom demand of $2.5 million for Amanda and Nigel down to $100,000.
Paying these kidnappers only encourages more kidnappings and the money goes towards terrorists. Hopefully Amanda and Nigel are released quickly without having to pay the ransom. National PostSomali kidnappers holding Alberta journalist Amanda Lindhout and Australian photographer Nigel Brennan have reportedly dropped their ransom demand to US$100,000, the head of a Somalia press freedom organization said yesterday.
....
Dad Abdi Daud, executive director of Mogadishu-based Somali Journalists Rights Agency, said the new ransom demand, which is a drop from the original US$2.5 million demanded by a tribal chief involved in the negotiations in September, signalled a positive development in the plight of Ms. Lindhout, 27, and Mr. Brennan, 35, who were kidnapped at gunpoint outside the Somali capital of Mogadishu last August.
"Now they want $100,000," said Mr. Daud, in a telephone interview yesterday with Canwest News Service. "You can see the difference."

Muslim cleric says its ok to force wives to sex and beat them
I wonder where the imam got the idea it's ok to forcefully have sex with wives and to beat them....*cough* *cough* the quranAFPSYDNEY (AFP) — A Muslim cleric who reportedly said men have a right to force their wives to have sex and to hit them if they are disobedient has been told to apologise by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
What an islamophobe!
"Under no circumstances is sexual violence permissible or acceptable in Australia," Rudd said over cleric Samir Abu Hamza's reported remarks in a sermon posted on the Internet.
"I would call upon this Islamic cleric to publicly apologise and repudiate his remarks," Rudd said.
The cleric said in his sermon, entitled "The keys to a successful marriage," that it was a man's right to demand sex from his wife whenever he felt like it, the Daily Telegraph reported.
"If the husband was to ask her for a sexual relationship and she is preparing the bread on the stove, she must leave it and come and respond to her husband, she must respond," Hamza was quoted as saying.
He reportedly scorned Australian laws which make it an offence for a man to force his wife to have sex, saying: "Amazing, how can a person rape his wife?"
Hamza also said Islamic law allowed men to hit their wives as a last resort but should not bruise them or make them bleed, the paper reported.

Australian soldier awarded the Victoria Cross
"I'm a soldier … I'm trained to fight, that's what we do. It's instinct and it's natural and you don't really think about it at the time," Sydney Morning HeraldFOR two hours, bullets and rocket-propelled grenades rained down on Mark Donaldson and his fellow soldiers. The coalition convoy had been attacked as it travelled through Oruzgan Province in Afghanistan, and many men died.
All they could do was shoot back. Trooper Donaldson ran between positions, firing his rifle, launching anti-armour weapons and exposing himself to enemy fire to draw attention away from wounded soldiers.
As coalition vehicles moved away from the ambush, he ran next to them so the injured men could sit inside. But when they reached safety, Trooper Donaldson realised that a badly wounded interpreter had been left behind.
He ran 80 metres back, exposing himself to "intense and accurate" machine-gun fire to rescue the interpreter. He carried him to a vehicle and performed first aid before returning to the fight.
For his bravery, Trooper Donaldson, 29, was yesterday awarded Australia's highest military honour, the Victoria Cross for Australia.

A Blogger's Dream Job

$103 000 for blogging about living on Hamilton Island, sailing, snorkling, feeding some fish and collecting mail. Sounds a million times better then blogging about shoveling my driveway of snow two times a day. Fuck it I'm applying, hopefully by February I'll be blogging about how horrible it is spending the day on the beach in Hamilton Island. BBCTourism officials in Australia are describing it as "the best job in the world".
They want someone to work on a tropical island off the Queensland coast.
No formal qualifications are needed but candidates must be willing to swim, snorkel, dive and sail.
In return, the successful applicant will receive a salary of A$150,000 ($103,000, £69,000) for six months and get to live rent-free in a three-bedroom villa, complete with pool.
