Russian officials say Polish President Lech Kaczynski is feared dead after his plane crashed in western Russia.
Officials say at least 87 people were killed in the crash. Polish officials have confirmed that the president was on the plane. Mr. Kaczynski's wife Maria was also among those on board.
The plane went down as it approached Smolensk airport.

Russia simulates nuclear attack on Poland
A Polish leading news magazine, Wprost, has obtained documents that show that Russia and Belarus conducted a war game that simulated nuclear attacks on Poland.
The war games took place back in September around the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by the Soviet Union. If you recall, the Obama administration also canceled the missile defense shield in Poland and the Czech Republic on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of Poland.
Poland is on it's own, no help will come from Obama, the EU or anyone else and Putin and co. know this. Looks like Hillary's wish to reset the relationship between the US and Russia have reset them back to the cold war era.

The armed forces are said to have carried out "war games" in which nuclear missiles were fired and troops practised an amphibious landing on the country's coast.[...]
The documents state the exercises, code-named "West", were officially classified as "defensive" but many of the operations appeared to have an offensive nature.
The Russian air force practised using weapons from its nuclear arsenal, while in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad, which neighbours Poland, Red Army forces stormed a "Polish" beach and attacked a gas pipeline.
The operation also involved the simulated suppression of an uprising by a national minority in Belarus – the country has a significant Polish population which has a strained relationship with authoritarian government of Belarus.

Russia general says missile plan not shelved

ZURICH (Reuters) - Russia's top general said on Monday that plans to deploy missiles in an enclave next to Poland had not been shelved, despite a decision by the United States to rethink plans for missile defense in Europe.
But a former Russian diplomatic negotiator indicated he thought the deployments in Kaliningrad region, bordering Poland, unlikely to go ahead. Alternative U.S. proposals for sea-based defenses appeared less likely to raise Kremlin objections.
President Barack Obama's decision to scrap a land-based missile defense system has been welcomed by Russia, which had threatened to deploy short-range Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad if the United States refused to drop the plans.
The Kremlin always said Russia would only deploy the missiles as a counter-measure if Washington went ahead with its missile shield. Moscow said the shield threatened its national security and would upset the strategic balance in Europe.
On Saturday Russian deputy defense minister Vladimir Popovkin said in an interview that "naturally we will scrap the measures that Russia planned to take" in response to the shield and specifically named Iskander deployment as one of them.

Obama Pledges Missile Defense Against Iran In April

Obama abandons missile sheild in Poland and Czech Republic
President Obama has abandoned US allies Poland and the Czech republic by scrapping the planned missile shield. The interceptors missiles and radar stations planned to be stationed in Poland and the Czech Republic, respectively, were meant to destroy nuclear equipped Iranian missiles.
However Russia wasn't too pleased about the plans and President Obama caved in to their demands in the hopes that Russia would not send the S-300 anti-aircraft system to Iran and be more cooperative with regards to sanctions against Iran.
Back in July, the Russians stated "There are no reasons to link these issues or count on Russia being more cooperative in toughening sanctions against Iran if there is progress in talks with the United States on further cuts in strategic offensive weapons," .
With regards to the S-300 system, Russia has only given vague assurances that they will not send the system to Iran. But I'm of the opinion that Russia wouldn't like to see the Israelis destroy all of the Russian nuclear reactors in Iran.
So Obama scraps the missile shield for absolutely no gain in diplomatic ties with Russia or for any progress on the Iranian nuke issue. Yahoo! News

The plan, proposed by the Bush administration, aimed to defend the United States and its European allies against a possible missile attack from Iran or elsewhere in the Middle East. In all, 10 interceptor rockets were to have been stationed in Poland and a radar system based in the Czech Republic.

Former Pakistani MP arrested over murder of Piotr Stanczak by the taliban

ISLAMABAD — Pakistani authorities have arrested a former member of parliament in connection with the murder of a Polish engineer decapitated by Taliban militants in February, a security official said Sunday.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP that Shah Abdul Aziz was arrested in May over his suspected involvement in the killing and was being questioned but had not been charged.[...]
Police recovered hand grenades, pistols and ammunition during the raid on their hideouts in the Barakahu area on the outskirts of Islamabad, he said.
Geologist Piotr Stanczak, 42, was working in Pakistan for a Polish oil and natural gas exploration company when he was seized in the volatile northwest of the country last September. His abductors killed his driver and his bodyguard.
His decapitation on February 7 -- which was filmed by his captors and was the first of a Pole by Islamic militants -- provoked a furious reaction from Warsaw, which accused Islamabad of "apathy" over tackling terrorism.

Polish muslims refuse to pray for Polish President and for Poland

Uh, noooooo. Why are Polish muslims offended or discriminated against if they have to pray for their country and president? Poland has been gracious enough to allow these muslims to settle and practice their religion freely and all it asks for in return is for them to pray for the country. What discrimination. Poles belonging to Muslim community are calling for changes to a law dating back to 1936, obliging them to pray for the President and the Republic of Poland.
The law regulates the relationship between the state and the Muslim Religious Association and stipulates that Polish Muslims are obliged to pray for the Republic of Poland and its President every week during Friday service, while on national holidays they are bound to say a solemn service for the Republic of Poland, Poland’s President, Government and Army.
The Foreign Ministry, along with representatives of Polish Muslims, are working on a draft bill which will abolish the inter-war law and introduce profound changes to the legal status of Muslims in Poland.

Russia could deploy missiles near Poland

MOSCOW - Russia could deploy its latest Iskander missiles close to Poland if plans to install U.S. Patriots on Polish soil go ahead, Interfax quoted a senior Russian officer as saying on Thursday.
Polish Deputy Defence Minister Stanislaw Komorowski told Reuters on Monday Warsaw wanted U.S. Patriot air defence missiles to be deployed this year regardless of whether President Barack Obama decided to press ahead with missile defence plans in Europe.[...]
Russia had proposed as a counter-measure "to deploy the tactical Iskander missile in the Kaliningrad region", which borders NATO member Poland, in response to deployment of the U.S. missile shield, Interfax reported.
"One cannot exclude that the issue of the Iskander will arise again," he added.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev pledged last November to station surface-to-surface Iskander missiles in Kaliningrad if the United States went ahead with its plans.

Here is a video of Piotr Stanczak, who was beheaded by the taliban, being forced by the taliban to ask his government to remove their troops from Afghanistan. The taliban obviously do not understand Polish nature. Fiercely patriotic, loyal and never backs down from a fight. Poland defeated the turko-islamoturds by the gates of Vienna back in 1683 and it will defeat the islamoturds a second time. But this time for good.

Even though the taliban ended up killing Piotr Stanczak, the Polish government did the right thing and refused to give in to the taliban's demands for ransom. NExt time the taliban will think twice about kidnapping Polish nationals. AFPISLAMABAD (AFP) — The Taliban said Saturday it had killed a Polish engineer kidnapped last year in Pakistan, but the Polish embassy in Islamabad was not able to confirm the claim.
Piotr Stanczak was seized on September 28 by armed men who killed his two drivers and bodyguard in restive northwest Pakistan, where he was working for a Polish energy company.
"We have beheaded the Polish engineer after the government failed to meet our demands and we will not hand over his body," a Taliban spokesman said by telephone.
The claim to have murdered Stanczak came just hours after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told reporters that no ransom would be paid.

Russia to station missiles on border with Poland
Russian President Medved announced that Russia will be installing missiles, radar jammers in Kaliningrad which is on the border with Poland. Russia will also keep 3 nuclear missile regiments.

Taliban claims role in abduction of Polish engineer
Taliban have claimed they have kidnapped a Polish engineer, who was working in the province of Punjab for a seismic survey company. The taliban will not release the Polish Engineer until Pakistan releases captured taliban and halts military operations.
Hopefully the Polish engineer will be rescued all in one piece. Zee NewsIslamabad, Oct 01: Militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the abduction of a Polish engineer from Punjab province, saying he would not be freed till the release of arrested Taliban and halt to the military operation in the country's tribal areas.
The engineer, who was working for a Polish seismic survey company, was kidnapped from a village in Attock district on September 28.
A spokesman of the Pakistan-based militant group demanded the release of arrested Taliban and halt to the military operations in Darra Adam Khel, Bajaur and Swat for the release of the engineer, the Pakistani media reports said.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a search to trace the engineer. The security forces on Tuesday dropped pamphlets through helicopters in Bajaur agency asking local people to stand up against militants.

Russia Threatens to Attack Poland

MOSCOW (AP) — A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile defense battery exposes ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported."Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike — 100 percent," Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.
He added, in clear reference to the agreement, that Russia's military doctrine sanctions the use of nuclear weapons "against the allies of countries having nuclear weapons if they in some way help them." Nogovitsyn that would include elements of strategic deterrence systems, he said, according to Interfax.
