A suspected US drone aircraft has crashed in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region, officials and local residents say.Miranshah is the main town in North Waziristan and there have been several Predator drone strikes near Miranshah this month alone.
The drone crashed late Sunday 4km (2.5 miles) from the town of Miranshah, the Associated Press news agency quoted intelligence officials as saying.

"This was not on First Lady Michelle Obama's schedule, but this does seem like official business: she met Tuesday with Ermine (sic) Erdogan, wife of the Prime Minister of Turkey, in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House, Dec. 8, 2009."
(The correct spelling of the Prime Minister's name is Emine - fyi.)
Can't find any report of what was discussed - or why, but it has been reported that Michelle O wore some new J. Crew.

14 American soldiers die in helicopter crashes in Afghanistan
At least 14 American soldiers have died in 2 separate helicopter crashes in Afghanistan. The helicopters were not shot down by the taliban. New York Times
KABUL — Fourteen Americans were killed in Afghanistan on Monday in two separate incidents involving helicopters.
Seven American soldiers and three civilians were killed in a helicopter crash in western Afghanistan, military officials said, and in southern Afghanistan, the midair collision of two coalition helicopters resulted in the deaths of four U.S. soldiers. A spokeswoman said gunfire from insurgents was not to blame for the collision.

U.S. drone crashes into Iraq political party office

MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) - An unmanned U.S. reconnaissance drone crashed in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul early on Saturday, hitting the offices of one of Iraq's biggest political parties, the U.S. military said.
No injuries were reported, and there was no indication the aircraft was shot down, said Major Derrick Cheng, a military spokesman in northern Iraq.
Cheng said it was a coincidence that the drone struck the local offices of the Iraqi Islamic Party, Iraq's biggest Sunni Arab political group, the military said.
The U.S. military frequently deploys drones in Iraq as part of measures to counter roadside bombs. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
