From Bloomberg Businessweek
The recall doesn’t affect the U.K., the company’s British press office said in an e-mailed statement today. McDonald’s is not running the promotion in Asia, its China office said in an e-mailed reply to Bloomberg questions.
First guess , they are made in China , The company Arc International of Millville, N.J , Is an American Company , and probably were not aware that their Chinese goods were being contaminated with Cadmium .
If they were made in China , then the upper quote tells a lot to my Theory that China is trying to poison us from the Inside out ! Literally .
Market Watch
the Oak Brook, Ill., burger chain, will recall 12 million U.S.-made collectible drinking glasses themed on the movie character Shrek because the painted design on the glasses contains cadmium, media reports say. McDonald's outlets are selling the glasses for about $2 each as part of a promotion for the new movie "Shrek Forever After," the reports say. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall early Friday and warned consumers to stop using the glasses, the reports say. The Associated Press reported that the glasses were produced by Arc International of Millville, N.J. Cadmium, which the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration says on its website is extremely toxic, is used in producing paint and coatings, batteries and other products.

Chinese eggs found to contain poison
So I guess it's not enough to just put it in the milk and baby formula , now they have to feed so much Melamine to their Chickens that they are finding dangerous level's in the egg's ,Legal poisoning? It makes you wonder what we have been being fed from our farmers for years! They always said it does not do any harm to the end result of our food processing but now I guess it does! China news
....
The potentially deadly industrial chemical melamine has been found for the first time in eggs imported into Hong Kong from China.
The move has prompted concerns that the chemical, which can cause kidney stones and other renal problems, particularly in children, has contaminated more of the city's food supply than first thought.
Melamine, which is used in plastics and fertilisers, had previously been found in baby food formula marketed by China's dairy product giant Sanlu and is blamed for kidney and renal diseases of thousands of babies across the country.
The territory's Centre for Food Safety said it would test samples of all eggs imported from China starting Monday after melamine was found in a box of eggs from Dalian in northern China.
Tests showed the eggs contained almost double the legal limit of the chemical, which is believed to have been in feed given to the chickens.

54,000 sick kids ,in China!
54,000 sick kids, at least 4 dead! , I have been posting here and there about this , but have been out of touch for a few days, but damn what a mess !
someone is going to pay for this one ! But it goes to show that China Cannot be trusted in their Manufacturing of goods ! They always use inferior metal in their tools that flood our market, they have all ready poisoned our pets with wheat gluten , and now melamine in their milk and Dairy products .
I don't want to wait for what is next !(if you have any of those cheap screw together shelves that you get in a box , the material they use to cover them is Melamine, and it does not look good to eat!)
....
This is a lengthy article ,A link to the rest
China vows export crackdown amid milk crisis
BEIJING (Reuters) - China vowed to stop toxic milk from reaching processors and export markets after tainted infant powder made more than 54,000 children sick in a scandal that has mired the nation's reputation in a fresh crisis.
Milk powder laced with the industrial chemical melamine has led to nearly 13,000 Chinese infants being admitted to hospital, 104 in a serious condition with kidney stones and agonizing complications. Four have died in past months.
Outside the mainland, two more children in Hong Kong were found to be sick after consuming toxic Chinese milk powder, bringing the total there to four.
The city's health department said the two new cases involved Hong Kong children living on the mainland who were diagnosed with kidney stones. Both are in stable condition after treatment.
Germany's biggest retailer Metro AG withdrew Sanlu milk powder products from two of its 37 wholesale stores in China and recalled them from customers on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Swiss Nestle SA and French Group Danone SA said their milk products in China and Hong Kong were safe. Hershey Co said it does not use milk from China in any of its products, including those sold in the country.
Melamine, which can be used to cheat quality checks, has also been found in candy, buns and carton milk sold to other countries and regions, unleashing fear in markets already shaken by a string of "made-in-China" scandals last year.
But with the scenes of sick infants and details of a government cover-up alarming Chinese citizens and foreign consumers, officials vowed a shake-up.

China Recalls Infant Formula
At least this time they did not harm anyone here ! but the fact that this has happened again is just disgusting !, For me the trust of China was never there, but it has been forced on us through trade agreements , you can hardly find anything American made anywhere , What bothers me is that what I see as another nail in there coffin of crappy , and inferior imports , some people in our Government see it as an opportunity to help them learn from their mistakes!, regardless of how many jobs we have lost!!!
....
THE New York Times HONG KONG -- China’s Health Ministry announced on Friday a nationwide inquiry into the safety of all infant formulas as investigators from six government agencies descended on a milk powder factory that produced formula that has been linked to one baby’s death and kidney problems in at least 50 more.
The producer of the suspect formula, the Sanlu Group, recalled 700 tons after determining on Thursday that it had been contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical, according to the official China Daily newspaper.
The discovery of contaminated formula is a setback for the country’s efforts to reassure its own citizens and overseas buyers that the “made in China” label is trustworthy after a series of incidents involving everything from toys to pet food.
Contamination with melamine is especially embarrassing. Chinese pet food laced with melamine killed thousands of pets last year in the United States and the Chinese government promised at the time that it would prevent melamine from entering food products for people.
For people in China, the death of a baby from tainted infant formula brings to mind a national scandal four years in which 13 infants died after drinking substandard formula that carried the Sanlu brand but had been produced by counterfeiters.
China’s Health Ministry promised “serious punishment” on Friday for those found responsible for the presence of melamine in the Sanlu formula. The majority of the babies who have fallen sick had definitely consumed the Sanlu formula, the ministry said in a statement on its Web site.
Top Chinese doctors have been asked to perform urgent research into treatment for babies suffering kidney stones and kidney failure after drinking the formula, the ministry said. Doctors across the country were ordered to report any further cases of babies with kidney difficulties.
China also reported the problem to the World Health Organization, in an attempt to improve its reputation for transparency in health issues. China hid the emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, for four months in late 2002 and early 2003, drawing international criticism when the disease spread to Hong Kong and then around the world.
An ingredient of plastics and fertilizers, melamine is sometimes added by dishonest merchants to animal feed in China. The melamine causes a common test of animal feed to show that the feed contains more protein than it actually has.
Sanlu ordered its recall and promised its own investigation after determining that batches of its formula manufactured before Aug. 6 had been contaminated with melamine.
Sanlu officials did not answer calls to the company’s headquarters in Shijiazhuang, in Hebei Province. It was not clear what production changes were made on Aug. 6 that prompted the company to conclude that formula produced after that date was safe.
There have been reports of babies developing kidney stones and kidney failure in at least seven provinces. A cluster of cases in Gansu Province in western China triggered the recall.
In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration said that no infant formula from China has been approved for import. But the F.D.A. advised consumers to be cautious because limited quantities might have found their way into some ethnic grocery stores.
