Iran using Chinese high tech trucks to counter protests

No wonder China does not endorse sanctions to the Mullahcracy. China is one of Iran's largest trading partners.
Wired

“it appears that they will be used in the suppression of people’s protests today.” Suppression may be a bit of an understatement since the armored vehicles are apparently “equipped with water cannons that can douse people with boiling water or teargas.”

One Iranian opposition site reports that the vehicles “have a capacity of 10,000 liters to shoot cold and hot water, and three 100 liter tanks to shoot burning chemical liquids” at a distance of up to 70 meters. Manufactured by Dalian Eagle-Sky Co., the vehicles cost an estimated $650,000. The site also said that “a lot of extra burning liquid, paint, and tear gas was purchased” in addition to the vehicles.

US drops Iran diplomacy

Iran dropped diplomacy with the US almost 31 years ago to this date. The mullahcracy will not change it's objective of obtaining nuke weapons and spreading their islamic revolution across the world because of The One's charm and brilliant smile. Mail and Guardian

Iran has greeted last week's news of United States plans to station missile defences in neighbouring Arab states with a stony official silence. But there are fears that the move could strengthen the hardliners in Tehran. [...]

The Islamic regime has been given the clearest sign yet that the Obama administration's tentative policy of diplomatic engagement has been unequivocally scrapped in favour of a reversion to the hard-nosed confrontation that has been standard fare between the two countries for the past 30 years.

US officials have privately admitted this in recent weeks, citing the brutal crackdown on the opposition Green Movement and what they see as continued Iranian intransigence in failing to accept a Western proposal to resolve the standoff over Iran's uranium enrichment programme.

Ahmadinejad threatens 'harsh blow' to global leaders on Feb 11th

Iranian press TV quoted Iranian president Ahmadinejad as saying that the Mullahcracy will deal a harsh blow to 'global arrogance' on Feb 11th (the anniversary of the islamic revolution in Iran).

Maybe that's why President Obama ordered beefed up missile defense in the Middle East and the gulf this past week.

3 American Iranians charged with plotting to smuggle nuke parts to Iran

Three men have been charged with plotting to smuggle parts, that could be used for building nukes, to Iran. La Times

Three men, including an Iranian-born chemical engineer living in Glendale, have been charged in a scheme to smuggle sophisticated industrial components into Iran that could be used in the development of a nuclear weapon, authorities said Wednesday.[...]

Authorities allege that the men were attempting to smuggle high-grade vacuum pumps and other items into Iran in violation of federal trade laws and U.S. sanctions against the country. Investigators’ suspicions were heightened by the great lengths to which the defendants went to hide their alleged activities.

“These were educated men,” said Louis Rodi, a top supervisor in the Los Angeles ICE office. “These individuals knew what they were doing.”

Mullahcracy blames US, Israel for murder of nuclear scientist

NY Daily News

TEHRAN - A remote-controlled bomb killed a Tehran University nuclear scientist on Tuesday, official media reported, in an attack which the state broadcaster blamed on U.S. and Israeli agents.

The blast which killed professor Massoud Ali-Mohammadi occurred at a time of heightened tension in the Islamic Republic, seven months after a disputed presidential election plunged the major oil producer into turmoil.[...]

The bomb which killed "Ali-Mohammadi, a nuclear scientist and a committed and revolutionary Tehran University professor, was detonated by a remote control," state broadcaster IRIB said on its website.

Iranian busted for trying to smuggle US weapons to Mullahcracy

H/T: GM (RoA's Iran expert) who wrote to me:

This is very informative: (a) The Mullahcracy is determined that there will be a war (b) Apparently the Chinese, Korean and Russian systems that the regime has procured are substandard otherwise the regime wouldn't be so desperate to bring back to life old American equipment from Shah's era.

U.S. authorities revealed today that an international sting operation resulted in the apprehension of Amir Ardebili, an Iranian arms dealer who was smuggling American weapons to his native country. U.S. authorities say he was working for the government of Iran More... Ardebili believed that he was helping to prepare for war between American and Iran.

Iran threatens Switzerland with "unspecified consequences"...

... if minaret ban enforced.

OMG, hearing the Iranians wax eloquent about human rights is a joke, isn't it?

From the LA Times:

An East-West clash over a Swiss referendum last week banning the construction of mosque minarets heated up today as Iran's foreign minister warned of unspecified "consequences" if the ban were enforced.

Manouchehr Mottaki spoke on the phone with his Swiss counterpart Micheline Calmy-Rey. Switzerland and Iran generally have good relations. The Swiss serve as Washington's representative in the Iranian capital in the absence of formal relations between America and the Islamic Republic, giving them exalted status in Tehran's diplomatic circles.

But Mottaki had harsh words for Switzerland, saying enforcement of the ban on new minarets was “against the prestige of a country which claims to be an advocate of democracy and human rights" and would "damage Switzerland’s image as a pioneer of respecting human rights among Muslims' public opinion," according to a report by the official Islamic Republic News Agency, or IRNA.

[...]

“Values such as tolerance, dialogue and respecting others' religions(Ed. Note: Don't make me laugh - you mean like Iran respects and tolerates religions other than Islam?) should never be put to referendum,” Mottaki told his Swiss counterpart. He expressed hope that Bern would soon “take necessary steps and find a constitutional way to prevent imposition of the ban.”

An Iranian cleric today also condemned the minaret ban. Ayatollah Hossein Nouri-Hamadani, said the move was "at odds with the protection of Muslim citizens' civil rights and will hurt the feelings of Muslims across the world," according to Iran's state television. (Ed. note: Oh noes! Muslims itty bitty feelings are hurt!)

Calmy-Rey told Mottaki her government would "use all its means to support Muslims rights," according to IRNA.

Iranian doctor witness to Mullahcracy tortures dies from poisoned salad

An Iranian doctor who witnessed the atrocities against the Iran protesters has died of a drug overdose. A hypertension drug, propranolol, was found in his system and traces of it were found in a salad served to the doctor. The mullahcracy has given conflicting reports of the doctor's death. First saying it was a car accident then saying it was suicide.

The Doctor's father doesn't believe it was suicide and several Iranian blogs are stating that the mullahs had the doctor killed because he knew too much. Yahoo! News

H/T: GM

CAIRO, Egypt - A doctor who blew the whistle on the torture of jailed protesters in Iran died of poisoning from an overdose of an anti-hypertension drug in his salad, prosecutors say, fueling opposition fears that he was killed because of what he knew about the abuse.[...]

The 26-year-old doctor, Ramin Pourandarjani, died on Nov. 10 in mysterious circumstances - with authorities initially saying he was in a car accident, had a heart attack or committed suicide.

Pourandarjani was a doctor at Kahrizak, a prison on Tehran's outskirts where hundreds of opposition protesters were taken after being arrested in the crackdown following June's disputed presidential elections. The facility became so notorious that it was ordered shut down by Iran's supreme leader as reports of abuse and torture became an embarassment to the clerical rulers and security forces.

Pourandarjani later testified to a parliamentary committee and reportedly told them that one young protester he treated died from heavy torture.

Mullahcracy opposes talks with Obama administration

Surprise, surprise...the Mullahs do not want to talk with teh One. The Mullahs would rather continue supplying the taliban with IEDs, weapons and ammo to kill our troops in Afghanistan, the Mullahs prefer to continue their work on nukes to wipe Israel off the map of the world and threaten our troops in the region.

The Mullahs never wanted, want or will want any positive relationship with the US. Reuters

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei opposes holding direct negotiations with the United States, newspapers on Monday quoted a senior lawmaker as saying.[...]

Iranian TV show scrapped after child calls toy monkey Ahmadinejad live on air

The Mullahcracy can try to hide the truth from from the people of Iran but it won't change the fact that millions of Iranians hate the Mullahcracy. Telegraph via Hotair Headlines

When the presenter of Amoo Pourang (Uncle Pourang), a programme watched by millions of Iranian children three times a week on state TV, asked the name of the toy the boy had been given as a reward for behaving himself, the child replied: "Well, my father calls him Ahmadinejad."

The father's likely unease at his son's honesty was matched by the programme makers after the state broadcaster, IRIB, immediately responded by removing the show from viewing schedules, The Guardian reported.

The popular show has been running for a very successful seven years but is now due to screened for the final time next week, the paper added.

Jahan News, a conservative website, said the decision was sparked by "the high financial and spiritual damage" caused by live broadcasts.

Hillary to consult Mullahcracy on Afghanistan

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday that Washington might consider consulting Iran over Afghanistan but accused Tehran of interference in the Middle East.

Speaking to reporters en route to Brussels, Clinton said Iran posed a serious threat because of its nuclear plans and alleged funding of "terrorism," but that Washington was looking for areas where it could engage with Tehran, including on Afghanistan, if such talks were useful.

"Where it is appropriate and useful for the United States and others to see whether Iran can be constructive, that will be considered," Clinton said, when asked directly whether the United States could consult Iran over Afghanistan.

Iranian Revolutionary Guards urge muslims to defend Gaza

It's in the mullahacracy's best interests to prolong the current conflict between Israel and Hamas. This conflict keeps the world's attention away from Iran's nuclear weapons program, and maybe most importantly keeps Israel occupied.

Some analysts predicted Israel would strike at Iran's nuclear installations sometime between the US elections and the inauguration ceremony. However, with Israel busy pounding Hamas into the ground, an airstrike inside Iran seems unlikely. Xinhuanet

TEHRAN, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Sunday called on world Muslims to defend Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the official IRNA news agency reported.

In a statement released on Sunday, IRGC invited world Muslims to "defend the oppressed Palestinians in Gaza Strip" and urged "Muslims of the world should stay united against world arrogance, the criminal Zionists in particular."

The statement also asked Muslim nations "to line up against wicked party with more solidarity than ever", according to the report.

Iran arrests 49 for wearing 'satanic' clothing

It's a shame that the mullahacracy would want to cover up Iran's beautiful women, like Claudia Lynx (pictured). Telegraph

Mahmoud Rahmani, head of police in the northern city of Qaemshahr, where the arrests took place, denounced Iranians who wore western-style clothes and haircuts.

"Police confronted rascals and thugs who appeared in public wearing satanic fashions and unsuitable clothing," he said.

He added that five local barber shops were closed and twenty more warned for "promoting western hairstyles". These are believed to include spiky haircuts.

Periodic crackdowns on western styles have been a feature of Iran since the Islamic revolution brought the ayatollahs to power in 1979.[...]

But while crackdowns normally last only a few months, the current one has been going on for well over a year.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has in the past suggested Iran's enemies may try to stage a "soft" or "velvet" revolution by infiltrating corrupt culture or ideas.

Visitors to Iran are often surprised by the number of young women in the capital city Tehran who wear figure-hugging trousers and make-up, often pushing back their headscarves to expose their faces.

Iran Supplying Taliban with Weapons

"One high-ranking Afghan government official said: "We are absolutely convinced that the Iranian intelligence service is providing support to the Taliban.""

An interview with a taliban commander reveals that Iran is providing the taliban with weapons. This wasn't the first indication that Iran is supporting another one of our enemies. Back in 2007 NATO had found Iranian made explosive formed projectiles, the same IEDs used in Iraq, in several taliban weapons caches.

A couple of Iranian convoys, carrying various arms such as C4, heavey arms and advanced IEDs, were intercepted by NATO forces back in April and May of 2007. The convoys originated in Iran and the arms they were carrying were similar to the arms found used by Shia groups in Iraq.

Thanks to GM for all the links. LiveLeak

"We sometimes seize arms and ammunition," said a Taleban commander in south-eastern Afghanistan.

"We're using whatever weapons are left over from Russian times and we buy from different sources - Pakistan, Iran, Russia - wherever we can get them."

He said their favourite weapons were Iranian:

"There's a kind of mine called the Dragon. Iran is sending it and we have got it. It's directional and very powerful."

The Dragon appears to be a local name for what is internationally called an Explosively Formed Penetrator.
....
Former mujahedeen fighter Shahir - which is not his real name - said Iranian weapons commanded a premium price:

"The beauty of the Iranian-made AK47, for example, is that it can also fire grenades. It costs $200-$300 dollars more than a Kalashnikov made elsewhere."

Shahir said there were two routes for Iranian weapons to reach the Taleban.

"There are people inside the state in Iran who donate weapons. There are also Iranian businessmen who sell them."

Britain and America have also alleged that elements in the Iranian state are helping to fund the Taleban, but it is rare to get confirmation from the Taleban side.

A Letter to the Mullahcracy

Recently His Royal Highness Reza Pahlavi (the Shah's son) sent a powerful letter to Ali Khamenei who is the leader of the Mullahcracy of Iran. The official French translation is here; but there is no official English translation. Luckily GM translated the letter into english for us.
H/T: GM

The translator's comments are italicized and enclosed in braces.
A warning to Mr. Khameneie [leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran] and his friends and aides

From: The Secretariat of Prince Reza Pahlavi
Date: June 2008

I, like the indisputable majority of my compatriots, have long considered your tyrannical and dictatorial rule
over my beloved Iran and its noble and honourable people void of any legal or moral legitimacy.
While the revolution [of 1979] derived a measure of legitimacy from the, albeit unwise, complacency
of the Iranian people; the start and the continuation of the nightmare of "The Guardianship of the Cleric", which you and your accomplices have subjected the Iranian people to, has by its filthy and bloodied robes erased any trace of that legitimacy.

Validity and legitimacy of any government is contingent not only upon its heeding the wishes of its citiznery; but also, more importantly, upon its competence in realizing their just wishes and anthropic goals.
A regime which neither answers to the people nor ameliorates their affairs, is about as valid and lawful as a
foreign occupying force. Thus, Mr. Khamenei, the shameful ledger of the actions of the past three decades of "The Guardianship of the Cleric" [the Mullahcracy] evidently betokens the presence of a such alien regime in our beloved homeland.

The evidences of your regime's complete disregard for the wishes of the Iranian people are so plain and numerous that there is scarcely anyone left in the world who has not heard of them. It is nearly thirty years that you and your collaborators have,
by resorting to endless violence, intimidation tactics and various deceits have robbed the Iranian people of any means of freely expressing their wishes and expectations. To wit, in that vast prison that you have turned our [once] great country into, you have erased all traces of free media that might have truthfully reflected the wishes of our people, and destroyed any independent parties who might have spoken out in the defence of the interests and the weal of any segment of the society.

The Iranian working class who, in these [thirty] years of unbearable hardship, have suffered the greatest privations are neither allowed to form their own syndicates or associations nor are they given the right to assemble and peacefully demonstrate to protest against the regime that has subjected them to all these miseries. Whenever millions of Iranian [university] students, these true representatives of the nation, these wise and inspired voices of the Iranian people, speak up about the truth of the bitterness of their lives, or write in the defence of the interests of their afflicted country, they receive no answer save imprisonment, torture and death. This same price has for years been levied against the lion-hearted women of Iran, the mothers and daughters of the homeland, for demanding their rights, for the [supposed] crime of overstepping medieval bounds and limitations, for the sin of labouring to break free of the chains of slavery and humiliation that your regime has imposed upon them. Even fairminded [Muslim] clergy who are
aware of your role in undermining the religious beliefs of a large segment of the Iranian population are not immune from vengeful retaliation should they voice any criticism or complaint.
You have reduced the only two institutions that could have been representative and expressive of the wishes of the people, namely the elections and the Consultative Assembly, to shameful and purely cosmetic devices for deceiving the populace. Without free [political] parties and free media, your elections are about as useful to the people of Iran as the Stalinist regime was to the peoples of the Soviet Union.

Now, Mr. Khamenei, one must consider the second reason for the utter ilegetimacy and complete invalidity of your absolutist "Guardianship of the Clergy" regime; namely, the [irredeemably] chronic incompetence of you and your predecessors in managing even the least of the economic needs of the people of Iran. The terrifying dimensions of this incompetence are made clear upon considering the enormous oil revenue of the past thirty years of Iran. In other words, your "Cleric Guardianship" regime in addition to depriving the Iranian people of all rights and liberties, and depsite access to a windfall of an enormous wealth, has pushed Iran, which just prior to the revolution was so prosperous and full of promise as to be the envy of all of our neighbours, down the precipice of economic bankruptcy; and have thus afflicted the hardworking and gifted people of Iran with the deadly ailments of inflation and unemployment. Throughout the world, the number of regimes, which like yours, deprive their citizenry of fundamental human freedoms and impoverish them can be counted on one hand. Little wonder then, that on the international scene, your friends are limited to the likes of North Korea, Sudan and Syria.

But, Mr. Khamenei, robbing the Iranian people of their rights and liberties and burdening them with backbreaking and ever increasing economic hardships, pale in comparison with the dangers and threats that you, through your ignorance and thuggery, have brought upon the security and the territorial integrity of our beloved Iran. It is a doubtless fact that even years before you and your collaborators succeeded in gaining control of the apparatus of government, you had schemed and fantasized about using the lever of religion to interfere in the interal affairs of all of Iran's neighbours. Indeed, the opening paragraphs of the constitution of your Islamic Republic, which more appropriately would be named "The Bill of No Rights", speaks quite clearly of such schemes.

Your efforts in creating crises and seeking confrontations for the purpose of manipulating the thoughts of the Iranian people have much older roots; do they not? From the moment you and your ilk assumed power, you have maligned our historical personages and heroes, belittled our ancient works, and regularly confirmed your adamant animosity towards Iran's ancient culture and identity which are the firm foundations for the millennia old unity of our people. From the very begining, by decimating the ranks of our once strong and well-equipped military and by shedding the blood of its commanders, you gave the [Baa'thist] regime of Iraq the opportunity and the excuse for bold aggression against Iran. Right from the start, by treading on the different ethnicities, and by intimidating and belittling followers of faiths other than Shi'ah'ism you have weakened the long held underpinnings of the unity and [amicable] coexistence amongst Iranians. Driven by ambitions of extending your dominance first to Iraq and then to Jereusalem, you unnecessarily prolonged the Iraq war at the expense of the lives of hundreds of thousands of Iranian youth and pre-youth and wastage of uncounted capital; so much so, in fact, that Iran which was originally the victim of aggression was seen in the eyes of the world and the United Nations as an aggressor itself [no better than Saddam]. In violation of one of the oldest and firmest principles of international law, you occupied the American embassy, held captive and tortured its staff, and forced that country to break diplomatic ties with Iran resulting in costly and unprecedented economic and political difficulties for the Iranian people.

By direct and indirect interference in the internal affairs of our neighbours, including Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Afghanistan, and by supporting, through financial military and propagandist means, the most extreme and most violent enemies of liberty and coexistence in these societies, not only have you made the name of Iran synonymous with such despised words as "terrorist" and "rogue"; but also made enemies of a large number of the nations of the world, great and small. If until now the naive peoples of the world have been unable to discern your direct and indirect roles in causing strife and bloodshed in foreign lands, near and far from Iran; the words spoken, for the first time, by your old friend Mr. Khatami [Ahmadi'Nezhad's predecessor] confessing and unveiling your current plots, have removed all doubt for everyone.

Still you are not content with all of this for realizing your primary goals of twisting the mindset of the Iranian people by making enemies of others and fanning the flames of conflict and strife. For this very reason, under the pretext of accessing nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, you are pursuing more terrifying weapons so that once again you can make Iran the target of threats and attacks of others. It is as a consequence of this scheme of yours that today our country is faced with an unprecedented and terrifying crisis; a crisis which our dear peace loving compatriots have not had the smallest role in creating.

The informed and long-sighted people of Iran see their own interests and welfare neither in armed and malicious interference in the fate of the peoples of Palestine, Iraq or Lebanon, nor in your animosity towards the free and advanced societies of the world, nor in your insane insistence on having a nuclear arsenal. The Iranian people have not forgotten that the preliminary steps for developing nuclear technology for peaceful purposes had already been taken before the revolution, since in that era no country in the world had anything to fear from the policies and aims of the government of Iran. You and your predecessors, however, have, by pursuing aggressive and provocative policies, not only completely destroyed that atmoshpere of trust and mutual understanding, but also by your willful ignorance has turned the majority if not all of the governments of the world into the enemies of Iran; and all of this just so you can give yourself further excuses for further oppressing the Iranian people.

Since, as I mentioned at the beginning of this letter, your regime is, in the eyes of my compatriots, devoid of any legitimacy; I ought not have addressed your and your regime. Nevertheless, my love for the sacred land of my ancestors and my concern for the future of my fellow countrymen leave me no choice but to warn you that the primary responsibility for every harm and injury which the territorial integrity and continuity of our beloved Iran may suffer from any world power lies solely with you and your collaborators.

Know this that in the event of such a tragic calamity, your fate and that of your cohorts will not be better than that suffered by certain autocratic rulers who in recent years were made to take the seat of the accused for crimes against humanity and received their just punishment. If refuse to learn from their fates, if the liberty and prosperity of the citizens of Iran do not concern you in the slightest, at the very least feel some concern for the land of your birth. If today, while you are able, you refuse to acknowledge the wishes of the nation and ask for their forgiveness, know this for certain that the power that you, like a Pharaoh, rely upon will not be able to withstand the ever increasing anger of the Iranian people; it will shatter and you will be made to answer for thirty years of calamitous tyranny.

May God be the Protector of Iran.

Iranian Government Biased Against Bahai Religion

Could it be because of Iran's islamic consitution? Fox News

TEHRAN, Iran — Members of the Bahai faith on Thursday accused Iran of jailing their top religious leaders earlier this month out of religious bias rather than security reasons.

Iran raided the homes of top Bahai leaders on May 14 and threw six of them in the notorious Evin prison north of Tehran. A seventh leader was detained March 5, according to Bahai officials.

An Iranian government spokesman said the arrests aimed to defend Iran's national security and had "nothing to do with ideological issues."

"This is an organized group that has acted against the country's interests and has connections with foreigners, especially the Zionists," spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham said Tuesday at a news conference.

But the Bahai International Community issued a statement Thursday saying "allegations by Iran that six Bahais were arrested for security reasons and not for their faith are utterly baseless and without documentation."
....
The Bahai religion was founded in the 1860s by a Persian nobleman, Baha'u'llah, who claimed to be a new prophet in the series that included Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Islam considers Muhammad to be the last of the prophets.

Bani Dugal, the Bahai envoy to the United Nations, accused the Iranian government of seeking to uproot Bahais because of their faith.

"The documented plan of the Iranian government has always been to destroy the Bahai community, and these latest arrests represent an intensification of this plan... The group of Bahais arrested...are being persecuted solely because of their religious beliefs," Dugal said Thursday by telephone from Geneva.

The seven detained are Fariba Kamalabadi, Jamaloddin Khanjani, Afif Naeimi, Saeed Rezaei, Behrouz Tavakkoli, Vahid Tizfam and Mahvash Sabet, according to Bahai leaders.

Naeim Tavakkoli, son of one of those detained, said he was worried about his 57-year-old father's health in prison.

"This is completely a lie to relate Bahais to national security affairs," Tavakkoli said in an e-mail from the U.S.

On Wednesday, the European Union called on Iran to stop persecuting Bahais and release those detained.

"The EU reiterates its serious concern about the continuing systematic discrimination and harassment of the Iranian Bahais on the grounds of their religion," a EU statement said.

Bahais have been persecuted by current and past Iranian regimes. In 1868, several Bahais were exiled to Palestine, now Israel, where they built shrines in Haifa, which they now consider a holy city.
