(USA Today )WASHINGTON — White House national security adviser James Jones says Americans will feel "a certain shock" when they read an account being released Thursday of the missed clues that could have prevented the alleged Christmas Day bomber from ever boarding the plane.
President Obama "is legitimately and correctly alarmed that things that were available, bits of information that were available, patterns of behavior that were available, were not acted on," Jones said in an interview Wednesday with USA TODAY.
"That's two strikes," Obama's top White House aide on defense and foreign policy issues said, referring to the foiled bombing of the Detroit-bound airliner and the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in November. In that case, too, officials failed to act when red flags were raised about an Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Hasan. He has been charged with killing 13 people.
Jones said Obama "certainly doesn't want that third strike, and neither does anybody else."
The White House plans to release an unclassified report Thursday on what went wrong in the incident involving a 23-year-old Nigerian man who tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight.
In Detroit Wednesday, the suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was indicted on charges that include attempted murder and trying to use a weapon of mass destruction to kill nearly 300 people. Abdulmutallab, who faces life in prison if convicted, is to appear for the first time in federal court Friday.

NWFP announces cash rewards for Fazlullah’s arrest
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday offered a cash reward of
five million rupees for the arrest of radical cleric Mullah Fazlullah,
the architect of a Taliban uprising in the Swat valley.
The
government listed names and published mug shots of 20 other militants,
including Swat Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan, who are wanted dead or
alive as the military pressed a month-long offensive against militants
in the northwest.
‘People providing authentic information leading
to the capture—dead or alive—of these individuals will receive a cash
reward,’ said the picture announcement published in leading newspapers.
The
advertisement was captioned with a Quranic verse and its Urdu
translation: ‘Don't spread anarchy on the land.’ Fazlullah carries the
top reward of five million rupees, while rewards for his associates
vary from one to four million rupees.
‘Can the people who
deprived mothers, sisters and daughters of their roofs and rendered
them homeless in their own country be called Muslim and patriotic
Pakistanis?’ said the advertisement.
‘Such people are indeed
killers of humanity and deserve punishment. Please decide yourself and
help the government bring them to justice.’
According to the
government’s announcement, anyone providing information leading to the
arrest of any of these militants will be awarded a cash prize and

India offers to join war against terrorism
A sudden turn around by India ? Just a couple of days ago India said it wanted nothing to do with Pakistan , unless they show some change in the Mumbai investigation ! Now (Supposedly) India is going to help Pakistan fight Terrorism !

NEW DELHI: India strongly condemned Wednesday’s devastating suicide bombing in Lahore and offered to join hands with Pakistan to fight terrorism together.
India’s new Foreign Minister Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna had previously ruled out any talks with Pakistan if it did not first act against Pakistan-based Muslim extremists who India accuses of involvement in the November terror attack in Mumbai.
‘India has always taken the position that wherever terror strikes we condemn it with all the force at our command,’ Mr Krishna said in a televised statement as news came in of the Lahore attack.
‘We have conveyed our sympathies to the government of Pakistan and, through them, to the people who have lost their dear ones.
‘And we hope that Pakistan and India could join hands together to fight this spectre of terror.’

Obama should read Jihad Watch !
Jihad watch Is Always great at summing up what is going on ! The Obama could "Possibly get" something out of it .

So says former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. And he makes it all very simple and Manichaean: there are "two elements in Islam: one wanted to work with the West; the other did not." We just have to work with the one that wants to work with the West.
Of course! Why didn't anyone think of that before?
Anything in his talk about why the "extremists" are so popular, or is that assumed to be a simple matter of policy and reaction to Western foreign policy? Did Blair even get close to mentioning the fact that there is a traditional, deeply rooted idea in Islamic texts and teachings, that Muslims must wage war against and subjugate unbelievers -- regardless of what those unbelievers have done or not done? I am sure that he didn't, despite its relevance to his point.
But until analysts grapple with that fact, nothing is more certain than that the global jihad will continue, no matter which smiling moderate is feted in Western capitals today.

He said terrorist groups should be tackled by blocking flows of weapons and finance, "exposing the shallowness of their claims, channeling their followers into democratic politics."

This has been one of the goals of U.S. Foreign policy , when it comes to dealing with countries that support terrorist's !

"Since 9/11, the notion of a 'war on terror' has defined the terrain. The phrase had some merit: it captured the gravity of the threats, the need for solidarity, and the need to respond urgently -- where necessary, with force," he said.

Miliband said Pakistan's government must take urgent action to break up militant networks on its soil.
But he said he would argue during visits to India and Pakistan this week that the best antidote to the terrorist threat in the long term was cooperation.
"Resolution of the dispute over Kashmir would help deny extremists in the region one of their main calls to arms, and allow Pakistani authorities to focus more effectively on tackling the threat on their western borders," he said.
