Not that border silly, Their southern border.
Mexico does not have a problem with their northern border, that is our problem.
El Paso Times
The Mexican government has no control of its 577-mile border with Guatemala, where arms, drugs and immigrant smugglers appear to have free rein, according to a U.S. diplomatic cable disclosed recently by WikiLeaks.
The document says that Mexico does not have enough resources to patrol the border.
"Limited resources also undermine the effort: while there are 30,000 U.S. CBP officers on the 1,926-mile Mexican/U.S. border, only 125 Mexican immigration officials monitor the 577-mile border with Guatemala," the document states.
"The weakness of the state (Guatemalan government), the pervasive violence, the widespread corruption, and the country's strategic location for drug trafficking are creating a very dangerous cocktail."
The state of lawlessness in Guatemala is such that residents rely on the Zetas instead of police to provide security, the released documents say. The Zetas, who formerly worked for the Gulf cartel, are reported to be making inroads in Chihuahua state.

Well here is something you don't hear of very often , The Mexican police actually Caught a suspect involved in a murder !
At least they have done Something , The Azteca's Are some nasty People .
BBC
Mexican police say they have arrested a gang leader responsible for killing three people connected to the US consulate in Ciudad Juarez in March.
Jesus Ernesto Chavez admitted targeting a US consular worker because she was thought to have given visas to a rival gang, police said.
Her husband and another man linked to the consulate were also killed.
The murders raised fears that US interests had become a target in Mexico's drugs war.
Police say the suspect leads a gang known as the Aztecs, which is linked to the Juarez cartel, one of Mexico's most powerful drug-trafficking organisations.
He is also accused of taking part in the murder of 13 teenagers at a party in Ciudad Juarez in January.

Nebraska Town Votes to Banish Illegal Immigrants
The Immigration debate Is really heating up and bringing out the common sense lacking Libtards , who make a killing off of The illegal immigrants in this country !
And Remember , 57% of the people voted this in !
Just ask the question ,
Why is it such a difficult and confusing thing , to want people in this country to be Legal Citizens ?
At the very least have an official , LEGAL , Work Visa !
Why Should everyone in the United states have to carry a Drivers License ,Which is a form of I.D. ,When they drive a car or use a credit card or buy Alcohol and cigarettes ,
When millions of Illegal Immigrants are running around the U.S. Driving cars , Buying Beer and Cigarettes , using (A lot of times ) Illegal Identification ?
Whats the point ?
I Just say to these people , Try Supporting Americans , YOUR NEIGHBORS , Your Kids when they need their first job , Before you start Supporting a few Million Illegal Immigrants .
And 57% Of the people voted for it !
the New York Times
CHICAGO — Residents of a small city in eastern Nebraska voted Monday to banish illegal immigrants from jobs and rental homes, defying an earlier decision by the city’s leaders and setting off what is all but certain to be a costly and closely watched legal challenge.
In Fremont , a meat-packing town of about 25,000 people, unofficial results from The Associated Press late Monday showed that 57 percent of voters approved a referendum barring landlords from renting to those in the country illegally, requiring renters to provide information to the police and to obtain city occupancy licenses, and obliging city businesses to use a federal database to check for illegal immigrants.
Opponents of the new law, including some business and church leaders, had argued that the City of Fremont simply could not afford the new law, which is all but certain to be challenged in court. In a flurry of television commercials and presentations by opponents in the final days before Monday’s vote, opponents said paying to defend such a local law would require a significant cut in Fremont city services or a stiff tax increase — or some combination of the two.
“There were a lot of tears in this room tonight,” said Kristin Ostrom, an opponent who gathered with others in an old V.F.W. building to await the results. “Unfortunately, people have voted for an ordinance that’s going to cost millions of dollars, and that says to the Hispanic community that the Anglo community is saying they are not welcome here. They thought they were coming to a small-town community with small-town values.”
Sorry , That's not what it says , It says that the citizens of Freemont , Want LEGAL U.S. CITIZENS Working and living in their Town !

Mexican troops chased away US Agents
Nothing to see here...move along. ABC News
Pointing their rifles, Mexican security forces chased away U.S. authorities investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old Mexican by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on the banks of the Rio Grande, the FBI and witnesses told The Associated Press on Wednesday.[...]
Shortly after the boy was shot, Mexican security forces arrived at the scene and pointed their guns at the Border Patrol agents across the riverbank while bystanders screamed insults and hurled rocks and firecrackers, FBI spokeswoman Andrea Simmons said. She said the agents were forced to withdraw.

Homeland Security warns Somali terrorists entering US through Mexican border
Here's a story that brings three major issues, illegal immigration, border security, and terrorism, together.
Homeland security is warning Texas authorities to be on the look out for Somalis affiliated with terrorist group al Shabaab, that might attempt to enter the US illegally through the Texas-Mexico border.
Maybe this is why Obama is sending 1200 National Guards to patrol the US-Mexican border. Fox News
The Department of Homeland Security is alerting Texas authorities to be on the lookout for a suspected member of the Somalia-based Al Shabaab terrorist group who might be attempting to travel to the U.S. through Mexico, a security expert who has seen the memo tells FOXNews.com.
The warning follows an indictment unsealed this month in Texas federal court that accuses a Somali man in Texas of running a “large-scale smuggling enterprise” responsible for bringing hundreds of Somalis from Brazil through South America and eventually across the Mexican border. Many of the illegal immigrants, who court records say were given fake IDs, are alleged to have ties to other now-defunct Somalian terror organizations that have merged with active organizations like Al Shabaab, al-Barakat and Al-Ittihad Al-Islami.

GOP Reps Offer Bill to Ban Interior Dept. From Hindering Border Agents
It is so rare to hear any common sense out of a politician , that when you do it is a Shock !
But I suspect that all four of these Four (Republican)Congressmen will be labeled racist Hate mongers in no time !
If you secure the border how are all those illegal immigrants going to get here to leach of the rest of us ?
Foxnews
The unknown gunman who murdered an Arizona rancher three weeks ago entered and exited the U.S. illegally in an area where border agents are widely prohibited from using motorized vehicles, constructing roads and installing surveillance structures, federal agents have confirmed.
The development prompted four Republican congressmen to introduce legislation on Wednesday that will ban the Interior Department from using environmental regulations to hinder agents along the border, including at the San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuge, a 2,300-acre parcel near where rancher Robert Krentz was killed on March 27.
U.S. Reps. Doc Hastings of Washington, Peter King of New York, Rob Bishop of Utah and Lamar Smith of Texas say their bill, if passed, will address environmental degradation of federal lands and help close national security gaps along the border, which they say has become an uncontrolled highway.
"Effectively securing our borders against illegal entry is a matter of homeland security," King said in a statement prior to the scheduled 1 p.m. press conference at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center in Washington. "Border Patrol agents spend every day on the front line, securing our homeland from terrorists. Denying or limiting the Border Patrol access to public lands and allowing the flow of illegals, including potential terrorists, doesn't protect anything."
The lawmakers say internal documents show that the Interior Department and the U.S. Forest Service have consistently and actively prevented Border Patrol agents from securing U.S. borders by requiring Department of Homeland Security officials to complete lengthy and expensive environmental analyses, and even blocking Border Patrol agents from entering some areas.
"As a result, Border Patrol agents are being forced to wade through bureaucratic red tape just so they can do the job Congress has mandated: gain operational control over the U.S. border," according to a fact sheet released by the House of Representatives' Natural Resources Committee Republicans.
Kendra Barkoff, a spokeswoman for the Interior Department told FoxNews.com that Secretary Ken Salazar visited the area last month to meet with land managers and federal, state, and local law enforcement, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security officials.
She said Salazar places a high priority on working with DHS and other agencies to "meet the twin goals of protecting our national security and our natural resources."

Mexican helicopter spotted in Texas airspace
So now do we have to put up with Airspace violations as well as illegal immigration , and the threat of spill over Drug war Violence ?
El Paso Times
BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- A Mexican military helicopter flew into Texas airspace last weekend and that incident is under investigation, the U.S. Department of Defense said.
Several people noticed the chopper Sunday at an RV park near Zapata, about 100 miles northwest of the border city of McAllen, Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez said.
"It looks to be military," Gonzalez said. "I don't know if it's being used to transport narcotics or people into the country."
U.S. Defense Department Maj. Tanya Bradsher said the flyover was under review.
"The incident did occur and it's still under investigation," she said.
The duty officer in the press relations office at Mexico's Defense Department, reached by telephone Friday, said she had no information on the reports.
Border Patrol spokesman Jason Darling said the Mexican military has been conducting operations nearby.
"Part of those operations encompass the area near Zapata along the Rio Grande. Some include helicopters," Darling said.
Witnesses also reported seeing a Mexican military helicopter over Texas on March 10, near Falcon Dam in Zapata County. The aircraft returned to Mexico without landing.

Rancher's Murder Exposes Deadly Gaps in Border Policing, Tancredo Says
Nothing to see here sheeple , moooove along now !
Mexico is a beautiful Country , the people are very friendly , you have nothing to worry about .
Foxnews
Former Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, reacting to the murder of a well-known Arizona rancher by an assailant authorities believe was an illegal immigrant, said violence on the border has spiraled out of control and the federal government seems powerless to stop it.
Tancredo, who has called on the Obama administration to deploy the National Guard in response, told FoxNews.com Tuesday that the killing shows how bad the situation has become for Americans living north of the Mexican border.
"The violence on the border is ... getting worse all the time," he said. "This is just a horrible manifestation of it."
Tancredo, a Republican who briefly ran for president in 2008, said gaps in the border fence -- and problems with the fencing that's already in place -- as well as ineffective border patrol are opening the door to the kind of violence that struck Robert Krentz.
The 58-year-old rancher, whose family has lived there for a century, was found slumped over his ATV on his ranch late Saturday. Footprints led back across the Mexican border, and local police say an illegal immigrant probably killed him.

A satellite photo from U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows a gap in the border fence near Krentz's ranch in southeastern Arizona. Tancredo said a small gap in the fence could be manageable, because border agents could "funnel" illegal immigrants into a small area and arrest them. But he said the gap by Krentz's estate is too big and law enforcers aren't working hard enough to catch people crossing over.
"There is not going to be any effective barrier on that border because there is no desire to stop illegal immigration," he said. "They're not using any human resources effectively."
Plus, Tancredo said, most of the fencing that is in place is not strong enough. It's either a single fence or, as Tancredo's Rocky Mountain Foundation noted, a short barrier meant to stop vehicles.
"It doesn't stop people," said Charles Heatherley, executive director of the foundation.
Lawmakers are calling on the administration either to send in the National Guard or to increase the number of Border Patrol agents in the area.
A spokeswoman for Arizona Sen. John McCain said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has not yet responded to the senator's request for the National Guard to be deployed.
I think Ms. Napolitano , is very busy .

Cartels seek toehold in border community politics
Nice , Imagine what it would be like if the Cartels did this in every Community !
Maybe this is the reason for "Certain" Local And Government Politicians whose districts Run alongside the Border with Mexico , Defend Illegal Immigration so heatedly ?
Just sayin , but it always appears to be someone of Hispanic decent who calls everyone Who is Against illegal Immigration a Racist , these same "Politicians" also fight to have A "No I.D." voting system in Place , Basically giving Mexico's Citizens a voice in U.S. Elections !
I have always wondered why Hispanic Politicians Act the way they do when it comes to Immigration And other issues Concerning Mexico , Now maybe we have some insight as to why ?
EL PASO - Mexican drug cartels are helping elect and influence politicians in U.S. communities to advance their criminal activities, an expert on international gangs alleged.
Richard Valdemar, a retired California law enforcement officer, said authorities in California gathered intelligence showing the cartels are corrupting American politicians to gain a foothold in the Southwestern United States.
Previous investigations showed the Carrillo Fuentes, Arellano Felix and Sinaloan drug cartels targeted Southern California communities that included South Gate, Hawaiian Gardens and Bell Gardens.
"Their efforts to influence and control these communities began in the 1980s, but investigators did not detect the trend until the 1990s," said Valdemar, who retired from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department after 33 years in 2004. He also served on a multi-agency investigative task force for 12 years.
"Some of the communities got cleaned up and some didn't," said Valdemar, who appears regularly on TV specials about gangs and other organized criminals.
The influence of gangs on politics is not suspected in El Paso, but gang experts said it could easily happen here.
Valdemar, a veteran investigator said that in California, the Mexican drug organizations employed a method they had used in Mexico with success.
Cartels send representatives to U.S. communities to buy legitimate businesses, such as strip malls, restaurants, auto dealerships and used tire shops. Then, they invite
local politicians and police to receive free meals and discounts, until they can develop relationships with influential people.
"They could give an entire city council a million dollars, and fire police chiefs, city managers, city attorneys, and anyone else who opposes them," Valdemar said. "They got local laws changed so they could run nightclubs, liquor stores and other businesses without interference. They went after cities' towing contracts and other types of contracts."
Although the true source of the money is hidden, he said the cartels contribute cash to the election campaigns of politicians, and finance negative campaigns against their rivals.
They wait until a majority of elected offices are up for election in city councils, county commissions and water districts, and run a lot of candidates so they can seize a majority voting bloc.
Former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado made similar allegations in his 2006 book "In Mortal Danger: The Battle for America's Border and Security."

El Paso border screenings unchanged by swine flu scare
First off , would the border patrol agents Know what to look for ?
The swine flu epidemic is going to have to get Much worse before any U.S. official will even think about doing Anything at the Border ! the money to be made on both sides of the border is more important than people dying from the Flu !
....
EL PASO Times- The swine flu that has spread beyond Mexico's borders and prompted U.S. officials on Sunday to declare a public health emergency has not changed the way people are screened when they enter the county through El Paso's border crossings, federal officials said Sunday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers are already using a set of protocols developed in past years to screen for people who appear to be ill, CBP spokesman Roger Maier said.
Health authorities in the United States on Sunday morning reported 20 cases of swine flu in five states so far, with two of those cases reported in Guadalupe County, Texas, which is near San Antonio.
Unlike in Mexico where the same strain appears to be killing dozens of people, cases in the United State have been mild.

Violence-plagued Mexico sees hope in U.S. border plan
Now that ICE can no longer do their job of Detaining people in the U.S. that don't belong here ( Illegals ) They have been sent to the border !
They can only help stop drug trafficking , and the selling of guns !
Of course this whole thing is the U.S. fault , they say we buy the drugs the cartel sells !
O.K. then , if that is the case then mexico is at fault also for buying the 9 out of 10 guns seized in all the raids they perform !!!
....
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (Reuters) - Mexicans desperate for an end to drug gang murders, abductions and extortion saw a glimmer of hope on Tuesday as the United States vowed to tighten security on the increasingly violent border.
U.S. officials announced a $184 million program to add 360 security agents to border posts and step up searches for smuggled drugs, guns and money, as Mexico's spiraling drug war seeps over the border into the United States.
"This is what we have wanted for so long. People can leave their houses again," said taco seller Andres Balderas in Ciudad Juarez, the bloodiest flashpoint in Mexico's drug war. Cartel violence has killed 2,000 people in the city in the past year.
"They should have done it a long time ago, given they are responsible for this drug demand and violence," he added.
No mention of stopping any Illegal border crossers ! I guess that law is still O.K. to break !

Big border Issues
A couple of interesting items ,
Ex-U.S. drug czar warns of Mexican border rush
U.S. ready for Mexico violence
Both of these are a telling tale of what could possibly be a serious problem Across the entire Border.
There have been some news reports that the drug cartels are trying to "Mellow Out"
But there have been 20+ murders across the region so far this year ! Last year there were over 5300 murders and a still unknown number of kidnappings (Between 700 and 7000 , depends on who you want to believe )
many people are saying it is going to get worse !
El paso Times
....
Former drug czar Barry McCaffrey :
"A failure by the Mexican political system to curtail lawlessness and violence could result (in) a surge of millions of refugees crossing the U.S. border to escape the domestic misery of violence, failed economic policy, poverty, hunger, joblessness, and the mindless cruelty and injustice of a criminal state," McCaffrey said in an after-action report based on the Dec. 5-7 International Forum of Intelligence & Security Specialists in Mexico, an advisory group to Mexican law enforcement leaders.
U.S. ready for Mexico violence :
EL PASO --" If Mexico's vicious drug war ever spills into El Paso, the United States has several response plans, one of which calls for a military surge along the U.S.-Mexico border, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said this week "
"We completed a contingency plan for border violence, so if we did get a significant spillover, we have a surge if I may use that word -- capability to bring in not only our own assets but even to work with" the Defense Department, Chert off told The New York Times.
He did not give details on how, when or where the military might be used.

Afghanistan Waiting for Pakistan to Secure Border
In a meeting with President Bush, Pakistan's Prime Minister Gilani had promised to secure the border with Afghanistan and stop terrorists from infiltrating Afghanistan. Now the Afghan government wants to see some action after months of talk from the Pakistani government. Reuters
I wouldn't be holding my breath.
....
KABUL (Reuters) - Afghanistan said on Tuesday that after the Pakistani prime minister made a commitment to U.S. President George W. Bush to secure the border with Afghanistan, it was now time for Pakistan to take action.
Relations between Afghanistan and its neighbor Pakistan have sharply deteriorated in recent months with Afghan officials repeatedly accusing Pakistani agents of secretly backing Taliban insurgents fighting Afghan and foreign troops on Afghan soil.
Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani sought to reassure Bush of his government's commitment to securing the border with Afghanistan during a visit to Washington on Monday. The Afghan government has told the United States and NATO allies that "the source of the terrorism in Afghanistan goes back to the sanctuaries inside Pakistan territory," Hamidzada said.
But, he said, "unfortunately we have seen a lot of talk from the Pakistani side and less action, we are hoping that they will walk the talk, it is a time to implement."
Pakistan's new civilian government has turned to talks with militants in its tribal border region in order to defuse violence that has killed hundreds of Pakistanis in the last year.
GILANI DEFENDS NEGOTIATIONS, ISI
But Afghan and NATO leaders say the talks have eased pressure on the militants allowing them to send more insurgents into Afghanistan where attacks along the eastern border are up by some 40 percent this year.
