Al-Qaeda has released a video marking the anniversary of 9/11 which includes a message from its slain leader Osama bin Laden to the American people, monitoring group SITE Intelligence said Tuesday.
SITE said the 62-minute video titled "The Dawn of Imminent Victory" also includes a speech by Al-Qaeda's new chief Ayman al-Zawahiri who applauds the "Arab Spring" revolutions.
The US intelligence monitoring service said the footage of bin Laden appears to be the same material found in the US raid on his Pakistan hideout in May, which Washington released but without its soundtrack.
Bin Laden, who was killed by US Navy SEALs in the covert operation, warned Americans against "falling as slaves" to the control of major corporations and "Jewish money capital", SITE said.
He recommended that Americans read the book "Obama's War" by Bob Woodward which details wrangles over US military decision-making, and told them that US President Barack Obama?s campaign slogan "Yes, we can" is untrue.

In September 2001, Honeybee Robotics employees in lower Manhattan were building a pair of tools for grinding weathered rinds off rocks on Mars, so that scientific instruments on NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity could inspect the rocks' interiors.
That month's attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center, less than a mile away, shook the lives of the employees and millions of others.
Work on the rock abrasion tools needed to meet a tight schedule to allow thorough testing before launch dates governed by the motions of the planets. The people building the tools could not spend much time helping at shelters or in other ways to cope with the life-changing tragedy of Sept. 11. However, they did find a special way to pay tribute to the thousands of victims who perished in the attack.
An aluminum cuff serving as a cable shield on each of the rock abrasion tools on Mars was made from aluminum recovered from the destroyed World Trade Center towers. The metal bears the image of an American flag and fills a renewed purpose as part of solar system exploration.

Officials chase unconfirmed al-Qaida bomb threat
It is known that Al Qaeda and others like them would love to attack the U.S. again, especially on the Anniversary of 9/11.
I personally would not take any threat at this time lightly.

Counterterrorism officials were investigating the threat throughout the night and into Friday, as police in New York and Washington said they would increase their already stepped-up staffing levels in light of the recent intelligence.
Law enforcement officials were pursuing three people who may be traveling to the U.S. or who have recently entered the country, based on the detailed information received by the U.S. intelligence community late Wednesday, officials said. The intelligence suggested that al-Qaida planned to car bomb one of the two cities that were hit 10 years ago.

The House Homeland Security Committee “has initiated an investigation” into the radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and whether he was an overlooked key player in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, a letter from the committee chairman to Attorney General Eric Holder says.
The three-page letter, obtained exclusively by Fox News, makes the case that a decade after the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil, the full story of 9/11 has not been told.
“This congressional investigation will seek to determine:
"1. To what extent Anwar al-Awlaki wittingly or unwittingly facilitated the plot of the 9/11 hijackers; and
"2. to what extent al-Awlaki was an al Qaeda operative, offering support to acts of terrorism before 9/11.”
The letter to Holder, sent by Republican Rep. Peter King of New York, confirms that investigators believe the American cleric's contacts with three of the five hijackers on Flight 77, which slammed into the Pentagon, were more than a series of coincidences, but rather evidence of a purposeful relationship.

Texas executes 9/11 'revenge' killer

A man who embarked on a shooting spree in what he claimed was retaliation for 9/11 has been executed at a prison in Texas.
The lone survivor of Mark Stroman's attack on convenience store workers in late 2001, Rais Bhuiyan, originally from Bangladesh, unsuccessfully sued to stop the execution, saying his religious beliefs as a Muslim required him to forgive the man. The courts denied his request.
Stroman, 41, had said hate in the world needed to end and asked for God's grace shortly before the fatal drugs began flowing into his arms. He was pronounced dead less than an hour after his final court appeal was rejected.
Stroman claimed the shooting spree that killed two men and injured a third targeted people from the Middle East, though all three victims were from south Asia. It was the death of 49-year-old Vasudev Patel, from India, that put Stroman on death row. He was also charged but not tried in the shooting death of Waqar Hasan, 46, a Pakistani immigrant who moved to Dallas in 2001 to open a convenience store.
Stroman's execution was the eighth this year in Texas. At least eight other inmates have execution dates in the coming weeks.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Barack Obama's decision to resume military trials for detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will open the door for the prosecution there of several suspected 9/11 conspirators, including alleged mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
Obama's order, which reverses his move two years ago to halt new trials, has reignited arguments over the legality of the military commissions, despite ongoing U.S. efforts to reform the hotly debated system.
But fierce congressional opposition to trying Mohammed and other Guantanamo detainees in the United States left Obama with few options. And it forced him to reluctantly retreat, at least for now, from his promise to shut he prison down.
A handful of detainees have been charged in connection with the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America, including Mohammed. But the charges were dismissed following Obama's decision to halt military commissions in January 2009.
Administration officials declined Monday to discuss the potential prosecution of Mohammed or the other detainees. But Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Guantanamo is a safe location for such a trial.

As many as four men from Qatar are suspected of aiding the Al Qaeda hijackers in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, but investigators concluded in the days following the attacks that there was insufficient evidence to charge the suspects, law enforcement sources told Fox News on Tuesday.
Officials spoke after The (London) Daily Telegraph published leaked diplomatic cables obtained by WikiLeaks that were sent between the U.S. embassy in Doha and the Department of Homeland Security in Washington.
The documents reveal that on Aug. 15, 2001, three men from Qatar flew to the U.S. from London. They visited New York City and Washington D.C., and made trips to the World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, the White House and "various areas" in Virginia.
They then flew to Los Angeles where they checked into a hotel and stayed for several days, checking out on Sept. 10.
According to the memo, "hotel cleaning staff grew suspicious of the men because they noticed pilot type uniforms, several laptops and several cardboard boxes addressed to Syria, Jerusalem, Afghanistan and Jordan in the room."
"The men had ... a cellular phone attached by wire to a computer," it added. "The room also contained pin feed computer paper print outs with headers listing pilot names, airlines, flight numbers, and flight times."

Nick Clegg will today issue a strong condemnation of the Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, telling the UN that his claims, made yesterday, that the US government was behind the 9/11 attacks on New York are "bizarre, offensive and attention-grabbing".
The deputy prime minister has added the comments to a speech he is to due to make to the UN general assembly after an international outcry over Ahmadinejad's comments to the same meeting yesterday.
Ahmadinejad accused the US government of orchestrating the 9/11 attacks to prop up Israel. Speaking just a few miles away from Ground Zero in New York, he prompted a walkout of the US and UK delegations from the chamber. US diplomats dismissed his comments as "abhorrent and delusional".
Clegg will say: "I was ready today to welcome the progress made in this week's meeting of the E3+3 group on Iran. I was ready to straightforwardly reiterate our concerns about Iran's nuclear programme. A burned Quran was found at a mosque in East Lansing on Saturday, prompting the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to ask the FBI to investigate.
CAIR-MI reports that officials of the Islamic Center of East Lansing say vandals left a burned Quran at the front entrance of the mosque and scattered pages in the street nearby.
"The perpetrators of this unconscionable act of religious intimidation must be apprehended and prosecuted to the full extent of state and federal law," CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid said in a statement.
Torn pages of the Quran appeared to be smeared with feces, CAIR officials said.
A spokesman for the FBI could not immediately be reached for comment.
A Florida pastor's plan to burn a Quran on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, resulted in worldwide condemnation and protests. Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville, Fla., later abandoned his plan.

The US president, Barack Obama, has defended controversial plans to build a mosque near the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York, saying to oppose them would be un-American.
Prominent Republicans have led protests against the construction of an Islamic cultural centre and mosque two blocks from the site of the former World Trade Centre. The proposed building would not be visible from Ground Zero.
Obama acknowledged that "sensitivities" surrounded the 9/11 site, which he described as "hallowed ground", but he said Muslims had the same right to practise their religion "as anyone else".
In a speech at a White House dinner celebrating Ramadan, he said: "As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practise their religion as everyone else in this country.

WTC mosque approved
A NYC community board has approved, 29-1, a mosque to be built at the WTC site. Even though, the vote isn't binding, this is still a massive travesty.
Don't the board members know that ALL of the 9/11 hijackers were muslim. I suppose if there was a proposal to build a church or a temple on the WTC site there would be massive protests and such.

The board has no official say over whether the estimated $100 million mosque and community center gets built. But the panel's support, or lack of it, is considered important in influencing public opinion.

Outraged protesters are planning a massive rally to try to block plans to build a giant mosque near New York's Ground Zero.
Angry relatives claim the move is an ‘insult’ to the victims of the World Trade Centre atrocity.
The mosque is part of a proposed 13-storey Muslim community centre, which will include a swimming pool, gym, theatre and sports facilities.
The building, which was damaged by the fuselage of one of the hijacked planes, is at 45 Park Place - just two blocks from Ground Zero.
It formerly housed a Burlington Coat Factory store. The store's two selling floors were destroyed when the landing gear from one of the planes tore through them during the attacks.
Construction is due to begin on September 11 next year – the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack.
A massive rally protesting the plans has been scheduled for June 6 as anger grows.
Rosemary Cain, whose fireman son was killed, said: ‘I think it’s despicable. That’s sacred ground. It’s a slap in the face.

As controversy surrounds the construction of a 13-story mosque just two blocks from Ground Zero, FOX News has learned that an effort to place a second mosque close to the hallowed site in New York City is in its advanced stages.
The Masjid Mosque has raised $8.5 million and is seeking an additional $2.5 million to begin construction. While it apparently has not settled on a final location, it has told donors it plans to build very close to where 3,000 people were killed in the September 11 terror attacks.
In fact, the website appealing for donations boldly states that it plans to “build the 'House of Allah' next to the World Trade Center. Help us raise the flag of 'LA ILLAH ILLA ALLAH' in downtown Manhattan."
One source said he believed the planners are considering a five-story building on 23 Park Place, closer to Ground Zero than the 13-story mosque the Cordoba Initiative is planning to build. But a tax record search shows that 23 Park Place is in private hands and has not changed owners since 2008.
Unlike the massive $100 million Cordoba House mosque, the Masjid Mosque is small – and it is no stranger to the neighborhood. Since 1970 it had been located at 12 Warren Street, about four blocks north of the World Trade Center, in a neat but nondescript industrial space that once housed a printing shop. It lost its lease in 2008 when the building was sold, and it was evicted from its second-floor prayer space on May 25 of that year. Since then it has been operating out a cramped basement space in a nearby building at 20 Warren Street.

Othman Ali al-Sulwi, who wore an explosive belt when he threw himself at a convoy taking Ambassador Tim Torlot to work Monday, had spent two years in prison before being released at the start of this year, his father said.
"I deplore and condemn this act in all its forms," the father said, adding that he had reported his son's disappearance to the authorities, who began a search for him.
Sulwi's attack "bore the hallmarks of al Qaeda," Yemen's interior ministry said Monday.
Among those taken into custody, the officials said, were seven Yemenis who had close relations with Sulwi.
The seven men, as well as the bomber, had all been arrested for suspected al Qaeda ties following the September 11, 2001 attacks on U.S. targets, but were released after two years in prison, according to the officials.
Yemen has been battling al Qaeda and other militant groups eroding its stability for years. The group's regional wing, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, is based in Yemen and has previously threatened and attacked embassies.
It has carried out a number of attacks on international targets, including the bombing in 2000 of the USS Cole in Aden harbor, which killed 17 sailors.
Last August, it sent a suicide bomber posing as a repentant militant to Saudi Arabia, where he narrowly failed to kill the kingdom's anti-terrorism chief, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef.

Holder Says Sept. 11 Suspects May Be Tried in N.Y.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. insisted on Wednesday that Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and his accused Sept. 11 co-conspirators may yet face trial in a federal court in the Southern District of New York, if not in lower Manhattan.
A venue in New York is “not off the table,” he said, and the Obama administration may make a decision “in a number of weeks.”
Still, in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Mr. Holder said that the administration was taking “into consideration the concerns that have been raised by local officials, and by the community in New York City,” about the cost and disruptiveness of security arrangements that would be needed if the case were to be prosecuted in a Manhattan courtroom. And he did not rule out moving the case to a military commission.
“The Southern District of New York, for instance, is a much larger place than simply Manhattan,” Mr. Holder said. “There’s also the possibility of trying the case in other venues beyond New York.”
Mr. Holder’s remarks drew criticism from the ranking Republican on the panel, Jeff Sessions of Alabama, who said, “I don’t think the people of New York want this trial anywhere in their state or their city, or the Southern District.” Mr. Sessions argued that the case should be tried before a military commission rather than a civilian court.
Senator Charles Schumer, Democrat of New York, told Mr. Holder that there was an “overwhelming consensus” in New York that the trial “should not be held there.” Mr. Schumer later released a statement saying: “We know the administration is not going to hold the trial in New York. They should just say it already.”
Mr. Holder said last November that he had decided to hold the Sept. 11 trial at the federal courthouse in Manhattan. But two months later, the White House pulled that decision back for reconsideration after Mayor Michael Bloomberg reversed his prior support for holding the trial in the city, citing the cost and disruptiveness of the necessary security.
