Indonesia executes three Bali bombers by firing squadJAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia executed three Muslim militants for the 2002 Bali nightclub bombings that killed 202 people on the resort island, the attorney-general's office said on Sunday.
The three men -- Imam Samudra, Mukhlas and Amrozi -- were executed by firing squad on Nusakambangan island in central Java shortly after midnight, Jasman Pandjaitan, a spokesman for the attorney-general's office, told a news conference.
The two explosions on Bali's Kuta strip on October 12, 2002 -- one at Paddy's Bar and the other at the Sari Club -- killed 202 people including 88 Australians and 38 Indonesian citizens.
"We've waited a very long time for this and justice has finally been served," Australian Maria Kotronakis, who lost relatives in the bombings, told CNN by telephone from Sydney.
Hopefully the muzzys let this pass ,and Don't start rioting or having protests, If they do they will show the world where they truly stand !!!
Georgia Lysaght, another Australian who lost her 33-year-old brother Scott in the attacks, told Reuters the executions would make little difference to how she felt.
"It isn't going to bring Scott back and it isn't going to change what happened," she said.
In an interview with Reuters late last year, the militants said their only regret was that some Muslims were killed.
Zakiah Darajad, Samudra's wife, had an open letter read by a relative at a news conference in Serang.
"(I) hope Allah gives the best to them and gives the worst to everyone that inflicted this unfair treatment," it said.
Officials had previously said that after the executions, the bombers' bodies would be taken for burial by helicopter to their respective home towns -- brothers Mukhlas and Amrozi to Lamongan in east Java, and Imam Samudra to Serang in west Java.
Security has been tight in Indonesia and some analysts say they feared a hardline backlash if the executions went ahead.
The Southeast Asian militant group Jemaah Islamiah (JI) said the attacks were intended to deter foreigners as part of a drive to make Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, part of a larger Islamic caliphate.
Although there have been no major bomb attacks since 2005, Indonesia is considered at risk.

New appeal filed by Bali bombers, security tight
A firing squad is a little to good for these guys ,but at least they will be executed ! their appeals will most likely fail , hopefully things will remain quite in the region ,but there is a good chance for some good old fashioned Muslim riot's, if they do riot Maybe we can read about the extensive use of those nice "canes " they beat people with and some nice rubber bullets!!!

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Lawyers for relatives of the Bali bombers have filed a new appeal against their imminent execution, an Indonesian court official and a lawyer said on Monday.
Imam Samudra, 38, Mukhlas, 48, and Amrozi, 46, members of the militant Islamist group Jemaah Islamiah, were sentenced to death for their role in attacks on two nightclubs in Kuta in 2002 that killed 202 people, including Indonesians and foreign tourists.
Security has been increased across Indonesia in the last few days ahead of the expected executions, and on Monday police laid down barbed wire and stationed armed officers at the entrance to the port that serves the prison island housing the three men.
The Attorney General's office said on Saturday that the execution of the men, who have been on death row since 2003, was "very close." Authorities have previously said that all legal avenues have been exhausted.
"We lodged the judicial review to Denpasar court to question (previous) decisions," said Fahmi Bachmid, a lawyer for the family, adding separately that the appeal should be addressed by the courts before the executions could go ahead.
Indonesia's Supreme Court has previously thrown out requests for a judicial review, while the Constitutional Court also overruled a petition from the bombers arguing the country's method of execution by firing squad was inhumane.
Denpasar court official Nengah Sanjaya also said by telephone that the three-page appeal had been lodged and would be sent to a court in Cilacap, central Java, close to the maximum security prison on Nusakambangan island housing the three men.
Another lawyer for the family, who declined to be identified, also said that the family had been given permission to visit the Bali bombers on Monday.
Three small bombs exploded in Indonesia's Moluccas islands early on Monday morning but there were no casualties, local police said.
The bombs went off in Ternate, in North Maluku, damaging the governor's office and house, police said. The area has previously seen fighting between Muslims and Christians, but it was unclear if there was any link to the Bali executions.
Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith on Sunday urged Australians to reconsider travel plans to Indonesia because of concerns about reprisals from supporters of the bombers. The 2002 bombings killed 88 Australians.
However, security analysts such as Sidney Jones of International Crisis Group, have said it was unlikely that the executions would spark another bomb attack as Jemaah Islamiah has been severely weakened.

Australia warns of Indonesia terror threat
You would have to figure that there will be some retaliation for the execution of these three scumbags , They seem to think that it is O.K. to go and kill whoever they want in the name of Allah!
Allah will not save them ,they will die ,I don't know how they will be Executed but I hope it's in a nasty way !
And when the riot's start (if they do ) hopefully someone has the Balls to stop them , by any means necessary !!!

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) -- Australia is urging its citizens to rethink travel to Indonesia, saying the threat of a terrorist attack is high as the country prepares to execute three militants over the 2002 Bali bombings.
The convicts -- Imam Samudra, Amrozi Nurhasyim and Ali Ghufron -- have "exhausted their legal options" to avoid their death sentences, which will be carried out next month, Jasman Panjaitan, a spokesman for Indonesia's attorney general, told reporters Friday.
Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade updated its travel advice for Indonesia late Friday to include news of the impending executions of the bombers, who killed 202 people, including 88 Australians, on the tourist island of Bali in 2002.
The department left Indonesia's risk rating unchanged at level four on a scale of five. The strongest warning is reserved for violence-wracked countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
"The Indonesian government announced on Oct. 24 that the three individuals convicted for involvement in the 2002 Bali bombing would be executed in early November," the department's Web site said. "We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack."
Don't Miss
Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said his government could not challenge the Australian travel recommendation.
But he noted that the United States had recently lifted a travel warning because of improved security in Indonesia.
Hasyim Muzadi, leader of Indonesia's largest Muslim organization, Nahdlatul Ulama, called on all parties to accept the executions and not retaliate.
"What is to be imposed is the law of the state," he said. "Therefore there should be no regret or counteraction."

The Bali attacks -- allegedly funded by al-Qaida -- were carried out by members and associates of Jemaah Islamiyah, a Southeast Asian militant group blamed for at least three other suicide bombings in Indonesia, including attacks on the J.W. Marriott hotel and the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
The last bombings occurred in 2005, killing 21 people in multiple blasts in Bali cafes and restaurants.

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia will execute three Islamist militants convicted of the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people in early November, a government official said on Friday.
The men -- Imam Samudra, Amrozi and Mukhlas, also known as Ali Ghufron -- were sentenced to death in 2003 for their roles in the nightclub bombings on the holiday island.
The attacks by the Southeast Asian militant group Jemaah Islamiah (JI) were intended to scare away foreigners as part of their drive to make Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, part of a larger Islamic caliphate.

"The Indonesian attorney general office decided that the plan to execute Amrozi, Imam Samudra and Ali Gufron will be conducted in early November 2008," Jasman Pandjaitan, spokesman for the attorney general's office, told reporters.
The executions will take place on the island of Nusakambangan, where the three men are being held in a maximum security prison, officials said.
"I don't know what to say," Sumarno, a relative of Amrozi and Mukhlas, wrote in a telephone text message to Reuters.
Metro TV station quoted Khozin, who is the brother of Amrozi and Mukhlas, saying that he regretted the decision to hasten the execution process.
Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra, who were convicted for playing key roles in the bombings, have refused to seek clemency from Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono after the Supreme Court rejected their final appeals, saying they want to die as martyrs.
In an interview with Reuters late last year, the militants said they regretted only that some Muslims were killed in the blasts.
The two blasts on Bali's Kuta strip on October 12, 2002 -- one at Paddy's Bar and the other at the Sari Club -- killed 202 people, including 88 Australians and 38 Indonesian citizens, and dealt a severe blow to the island's tourist industry.
