America is "under attack" by a non-violent "stealth jihad," a panel of national security analysts warned in a new report that claimed fundamentalists are trying to bring Islamic law known as "Shariah" to the United States.
The report, sponsored by the Center for Security Policy and touted by a handful of conservative lawmakers on Capitol Hill Wednesday, said that the violent threat posed by Al Qaeda and other terror groups is outmatched by the threat from jihadists allegedly trying to change American society from within.
"This form of warfare includes multi-layered cultural subversion, the co-opting of senior leaders, influence operations and propaganda and other means of insinuating Shariah into Western societies," the study said.
The report cited the Muslim Brotherhood as the most influential organization trying to achieve that goal, but expressed concern more about America's vulnerability than any marquee successes by the so-called "stealth" jihadists.
"Just as we cannot say all Muslims hold a certain view based on the actions of a radical fringe ... it would be unwise to discount the malicious intentions of those that wish to subvert American law," Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., said at a press conference Wednesday.
The study urged government to be more vigilant by threatening Shariah-promoting imams with investigation and monitoring the contents of school textbooks.

Police in Helsingborg in southern Sweden are taking seriously the threats made against Vilks, which come just three days after Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard was subjected to an axe attack at his home in Denmark.
The first of two phone calls to Vilks came on Monday morning. A subsequent check by the Swedish artist revealed that the call originated in Somalia, where the Islamic militant group al-Shabaab has gained increasing influence in the war torn country. Al-Shabaab is also believed to have ties to al-Qaeda.
In the last month, al-Shabaab supporters who reportedly used to live in Denmark have killed at least 22 people, including three ministers, in a suicide bomb attack carried out in the Somali capital of Mogadishu.
According to Vilks, the man who threatened him spoke Swedish.
"The man, who spoke accented Swedish, asked me if I knew about what happened in Denmark and to the artist Kurt Westergaard. I said I certainly did," Vilks told the Helsingborgs Dagblad newspaper.
"The man then explained that they were out after more and that they would soon come for me. I told them they were welcome," said Vilks....
Mr. Spencer goes on to say:
Bravo.
No one in the West should allow themselves to be intimidated. I have received so many death threats I have lost count of how many there have been. But I don't care. They can kill me, but I was going to die anyway. They can't make me bow.

Jihad Watch Excommunicated by LGF
Charles from LGF has decided to cut off Robert Spencer and Jihad Watch for linking to Gates of Vienna and the Brussels Journal. Charles Johnson seems to think that by simply linking to a site you automatically share the site author's views.
During the blogwar between LGF and GOV I was unimpressed by the evidence that Charles Johnson put forward regarding GOV & Fjordman's links to white supremacists. However, I continued checking out LGF on a less frequent basis.
I began to question LGF's direction when they started going after creationists. Is that really the biggest problem we face? Yes, it's true that some islamists share the views of creationists but defeating creationism will certainly not defeat the islamists.
For me, 'excommunicating' Jihad Watch & Robert Spencer is the final nail in the coffin for LGF. I find it telling that Charles Johnson keeps this rift buried in the comments section of LGF instead of writing a post to explain his position.
Charle Johnson's decision to stop linking to JihadWatch will have minimal impact. In my opinion, LGF has no desire to fight against the jihadis.
