(Reuters) - Muslim states said on Wednesday that what they call "islamophobia" is sweeping the West and its media and demanded that the United Nations take tougher action against it.
Delegates from Islamic countries, including Pakistan and Egypt, told the United Nations Human Rights Council that treatment of Muslims in Western countries amounted to racism and discrimination and must be fought.
"People of Arab origin face new forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance and experience discrimination and marginalization," an Egyptian delegate said, according to a U.N. summary.
And Pakistan, speaking for the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), said the council's special investigator into religious freedom should look into such racism "especially in Western societies."
Acting for the OIC, Pakistan has tabled a resolution at the council instructing its special investigator on religious freedom "to work closely with mass media organizations to ensure that they create and promote an atmosphere of respect and tolerance for religious and cultural diversity."
The OIC -- and its allies in the 47-nation council including Russia, China and Cuba -- dub criticism of Muslim practices and linking of terrorism waged under the proclaimed banner of Islamism as "islamophobia" that pillories all Muslims.

Man to pay $2000 for pulling woman's hijab
A British man has been ordered to pay $2000 in compensation to a muslim woman for yanking on her hijab.

Stephen Ard was handed a 16-week jail sentence, suspended for a year, after he admitted a charge of religiously aggravated assault.
Leicester magistrates also ordered him to pay his victim £1,000 compensation after hearing he was drunk at the time of the incident which took place in October in the Highfields area of the city.
His victim Rehana Sidat told the court she felt 'invaded' by the attack and is still scared to walk the streets alone.

Togo West never saw an affirmative action policy or minority preference policy he didn’t like. For decades the US military has been subject to yearly political indoctrination in the form of special training to prevent the “harassment” of minorities. Mostly, this means that soldiers are subjected to training teams that present courses describing how deeply racist US white people. Any joke, look, friendly comment, or official action made by a white person to a protected minority group member can and should be treated as a racist action that merits official complaint.

Muslim student sues school for alledged discrimination

After reading the article it seems like the school did not single out Omar Elgammal because of his religion. It seems like they singled him out because he's a trouble maker.
The lawsuit is not actually about discmination, it's about scaring other institution into treating muslims differently then every one else. How many other lawsuits have there been like this one? Countless. Canadian Press
Omar Elgammal is suing the Toronto French School, headmaster John Godfrey - who was first elected to the House of Commons in 1993 - and principal Heidi Gollert over alleged remarks at a school assembly denouncing the teen after a fight apparently sparked by racial slurs.
in the defamation lawsuit filed in Ontario Superior Court, Elgammal alleges that on Oct. 23, 2008, a student from another private school was at Toronto French School and insulted Elgammal.
The student "seized" upon Elgammal's Muslim heritage, calling his father "bin Laden," calling them terrorists and saying, "What are you guys going to do, call out, 'Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah?" Elgammal alleges.
Elgammal also says the student then made the gesture of pushing a hand-held detonator. The lawsuit alleges the student had racially taunted Elgammal and another TFS student on other occasions, calling Elgammal's friend's Filipina mother "a maid."[...]
Godfrey, who left politics last summer to take the headmaster job, and Gollert convened an assembly on Nov. 3 and told those gathered that "some of our students" - whom Gollert described as "attackers" - taunted a student visitor to the school and assaulted him, Elgammal alleges.
Godfrey also referenced the Holocaust, apparently using it as a historical comparison for the role the student body should play when faced with the actions of a "thug," "bully" or "bad person," the lawsuit says.

Muslim doctor claims discrimination over Friday prayers

Doctor Musarrat Syed-Shah, 31, is alleging religious discrimination and victimisation against four partners from the North Leeds Medical Practice after her partnership agreement was terminated on August 8 last year.Sounds to me like she just didn't want to work that hard.
The employment tribunal in Leeds heard that Dr Syed-Shah claims the other doctors were "unhappy" about her attending the weekly prayers.
Michael McDonough, for Dr Syed-Shah, told the tribunal: "They were unhappy with her attending the mosque for Friday prayers and they applied a condition to her which was not applied to anyone else by saying they were not allowed to leave the surgery between sessions."[...]
Dr Syed-Shah also claims she was victimised after refusing to see both her own and another GP's patients while covering for that doctor's surgery.[...]
She claims complaints about these health problems also led to her victimisation at the practice.

Canada urged to stop religious discrimination against Muslims
The UN's Human Rights Council is urging Canada to do more against "religious discrimination against muslims". Religious discrimination against muslims in Canada? The Human Rights Council is of course dominated by islamic countries. This is all just propaganda and the council trying to get Canada to bend to them.
If anything it's the other way around in Canada and other places. Some muslims are doing the discriminating, and against non-muslim. Notice the article does not mention a single case of religious discrimination against muslims in Canada. That's because there's nothing to report.
Canada treats its muslims very well, better then other populations within Canada. If muslims are offended by a book or a cartoon the Author (Mark Steyn) and Editor (Ezra Levant) are taken before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

Muslim twin sisters in UK get 10-mn pound payout for racism
Of course islam is not a race but that doesn't stop the accussations of racism. Apparently works really well. Newspost OnlineLondon, Nov 12 (ANI): Two Muslim sisters have won a multi-million pound settlement on the verge of an explosive tribunal which threatened to make public claims of widespread drug abuse and racial bigotry in London.
Samira and Hanan Fariad, 31, had made more than 200 sensational claims like top brokers used cocaine, and subjected them to unbearable levels of race and religious discrimination.
They alleged that former bosses at Tradition Securities and Futures turned a blind eye to the deplorable behaviour.
But just days after the case began last week the two sides settled for what is believed to be a staggering 10million pound. It dwarfs all previous payouts, The Sun reported.
The French twins, who held hands during tribunal hearings, were on 50,000 pound a year salaries but earned six figures with commission.
They claimed Jewish clients were taken away from them. And they said bosses transferred these clients to non-Muslims during their two years as brokers.

Two muslim women sue London firm for religious discrimination
Two muslim women working as brokers for a London firm have sued the firm for religious discrimination. The women claim the firm transfered Jewish clients to non-muslim co-workers. The Firm denies this, it stated that it consulted with one of the women about transfering a number of clients, including Jewish and non muslim clients, in order to encourage more productive broking.
AHH...so the two women weren't that very good at their jobs. TelegraphLawyers for the co-workers will outline a series of allegations, including racial, sexual and religious discrimination, against broker Tradition Securities & Futures at the opening of the employment tribunal on Wednesday.
Their claims are expected to throw a light on the seedier side of the City.
The women, Muslims of North African descent in their thirties, joined Tradition – a French company – in Paris six years ago. They moved with the trading desk to London in 2004 and quit two years later after deciding they could no longer work in the environment. [...]
One of the claimants alleges that a client working for a big bank was allocated to a Jewish co-worker because the two "had in common both language and race".
"The removal of certain clients from the claimants ... might have been because the claimants are Muslim and because they are women," the submission says.[...]
"TSAF did consult with one of the claimants concerning a proposed reallocation of a number of clients – not only those that are Jewish – in order to encourage more productive broking. The claimant concerned made all decisions concerning allocation of clients herself, with full discretion and no coercion."
