No Deal: Mideast Round Ends Amid Fresh Violence

There will never be peace in the Middle East !

Foxnews
JERUSALEM -- A mortar attack by Palestinian militants and airstrikes by Israel formed the grim backdrop as Mideast leaders ended their latest round of peace talks Wednesday, still divided on major issues. There was no word on when they would meet again.

The inconclusive U.S.-brokered talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas left in doubt the prospects for their new effort to end generations of hostilities in the region and create a sovereign Palestine alongside a secure Israel.

No sign of deal as Obama envoy leaves Mideast

What a Shock ! There is still no progress between Israel And Palestine .
And there never will be , not when each side Blames each other for all the problems !

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Washington's peace envoy ended a week of shuttle diplomacy in the Middle East on Friday with little yet to show for his efforts as Israel and the Palestinians dug in to opposing positions on Jewish settlements.

U.S. President Barack Obama may yet host a summit next week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during the U.N. General Assembly in New York. But his envoy George Mitchell has more work to do before any substantive resumption of peace negotiations.

Each side blamed the other for failure, but pledged to keep talking. Neither is keen to refuse Obama's invitation, but on both sides officials acknowledge that a photograph and handshake at the United Nations will not be enough to relaunch the peace process without substantial shifts in negotiating positions.

U.N. Probe: Israelis, Palestinians Both Guilty of 'War Crimes'

Really , is not the conclusion of the " useless N" That the Armed Palestinian Groups (Hamas) , Were shooting Unguided Qassam Rockets randomly into Israel , What Israel has been saying from the start ?

Another Priceless U.N Moment !

Fox News
GENEVA — A U.N. investigation into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Gaza has found evidence that both sides committed "war crimes."

The United Nations says the investigation led by former South African judge Richard Goldstone concluded that "Israel committed actions amounting to war crimes, possibly crimes against humanity," during its Dec. 27-Jan. 18 military operations in the Palestinian territories.

The global body said the report released Tuesday "concludes there is also evidence that Palestinian armed groups committed war crimes, as well as possibly crimes against humanity," by firing rockets into southern Israel.

Israel refused to cooperate with the investigation, saying the U.N. Human Rights Council that ordered it was biased against the Jewish state.

Jailed Palestinian wins top Fatah post:

Maybe the problem with the Palestinians , Is that they fail to realize how to run a " Government " , Electing a man to a post who is in prison for life ? Protests against Israel to release this man to Follow ...

BETHLEHEM, West Bank (Reuters) - Marwan Barghouthi, jailed for life in Israel on charges of organizing the killing of Jews, was elected to a top post in Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah group on Tuesday, initial results showed.

But former Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie, a top negotiators during the 1993 Palestinian-Israeli Oslo peace deal and latterly in peace talks with Israel, surprisingly lost his seat.

"This is an unexpected result. It's a big change, a huge change," said Naser al-Kidwa, the nephew of late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, who also won a Central Committee seat.

Mideast peace possible only if imposed

Forced peace ? as funny as this sounds it is pretty much the truth !  Palestinians will never accept Israel as a state ,
Israel will never accept Palestine as a state .
Stubborn attitudes all the way around , is the main problem , you can not get the two sides to agree on anything , they possibly will come to some kind of agreement to sorta make nice , then all hell will break lose again and their will be another war ! they are just plain stubborn and filled with way to much religious Arrogance to come to grips with what they need to do to get peace !

JERUSALEM (AFP) — A Middle East peace deal is possible only if it is
forced on Israelis and Palestinians by US-led efforts, one of Israel's
best-known authors has written as he hit out at a speech by Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu's speech on Sunday "tells
us between its contorted lines that there will be no peace here if it
is not forced upon us," David Grossman wrote remarks published on
Wednesday in the liberal Haaretz daily.

"It is not easy to admit it, but it seems increasingly that this is the choice Israelis and Palestinians face."

"A
just and secure peace -- forced on the parties through firm
international involvement, led by the United States -- or war, possibly
more difficult and bitter than those that came before it."

Grossman
virulently criticised Netanyahu's address, in which the premier for the
first time accepted the creation of a Palestinian state, but set a slew
of conditions rejected by the Palestinians.

Israelis round up Hamas politicians in West Bank

And it just keeps getting better ! Hamas just keeps getting irritated with Israel ,They feel that they don't have to give anything to get what they want . Israel will only take so much . The Fact that Both sides are completely stubborn , fuels the fire that is brewing in the whole situation !

RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Israeli troops detained 10 Hamas politicians from the occupied West Bank on Thursday in what the Islamist faction called a punitive round-up following Israel's failure to retrieve a captive soldier.

Egyptian efforts to mediate the release of Gilad Shalit, held incommunicado by Hamas in the Gaza Strip since June 2006, collapsed this week when the Israelis ruled out its demand of amnesty for scores of jailed Palestinians militant chiefs.

The impasse prompted a pledge by Israel to press the crippling Gaza blockade, as well as threats to toughen up conditions for some of the 11,000 Palestinians in its prisons.

Thursday's detainees included 4 lawmakers from Hamas, which won a Palestinian election in early 2006 but was shunned by the West for rejecting peace with the Jewish state. Mahmoud Abbas, the U.S.-backed Palestinian president, dissolved a government alliance with Hamas when it seized control of Gaza in 2007.

"Israel's arrests of Hamas leaders and lawmakers in the West Bank is an attempt to blackmail the resistance and achieve gains in the prisoner case," Hamas said in a statement.

"It shows the bankruptcy of the enemy. We call on the resistance factions to stick to their conditions in any prisoner exchange that will be discussed."

Rockets from Lebanon hit Israel amid Gaza offensive

Now Lebanon wants to play with Israel ! missiles were fired and Israel struck back ,that seems to be it so far , Maybe they were just doing a little test to see how Israel will respond ?

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Several rockets fired from Lebanon struck northern Israel Thursday, slightly wounding two people, police and medics said, in attacks seen as linked to Israel's war on Hamas Islamists in the Gaza Strip.

Israel hit back after a first salvo with artillery shells in what an Israeli army spokesman described as "a pinpoint response at the source of fire" -- a limited military reaction that appeared to signal a desire to avoid escalation.

Three hours later, Israeli emergency services said at least one more rocket had landed. There appeared to be no casualties.

There were no reports of casualties in Lebanon.
....

It was not immediately clear whether Lebanon's Hezbollah guerrillas -- against whom Israel fought a 2006 war -- or Palestinians fired the rockets in a new challenge to the Jewish state on the 13th day of a Gaza campaign.

Lebanese security sources said they felt it was unlikely Hezbollah fired the salvoes, which came from an area controlled by U.N. peacekeepers and the Lebanese army, about 3 km (two miles) north of the border. Hamas sources in Lebanon denied involvement.

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli aircraft bombed targets across the Hamas-ruled territory, killing three militants and a woman. A civilian was shot dead during an army raid in southern Gaza.

U.S. backing for a truce proposal raised expectations of an end to an onslaught that has killed more than 600 Palestinians.

Israeli forces have been on alert in the north, anticipating that Hezbollah or Palestinian groups could fire rockets into northern Israel and lend support to Hamas and the Gaza Strip's 1.5 million inhabitants. Some 4,000 Hezbollah rockets hit Israel in the 2006 conflict.

"We took into account there would be an attempt by Palestinian groups to express solidarity," Israeli cabinet minister Shalom Simchon said after the rocket attack.

Shi'ite Hezbollah has not opened fire since Israel started bombarding the Gaza enclave on December 27 with the declared aim of halting Hamas rocket attacks.

Palestinian groups in Lebanon have also been known to fire rockets and Israeli military affairs commentators said it was more likely they were responsible for the rockets that hit the Israeli resort town of Nahariya and three other locations.

One rocket punched a hole in the roof of a home for the elderly in Nahariya. The Magen David Adom ambulance service said two people were slightly wounded and several were treated for shock after what police said were at least three rocket strikes.

Israel: Airstrike targets Gaza rocket squad

Well ,I thought there was something missing lately !,The good old Israeli,Palistinian SPAT!
As usual the cease fire ,ceased to exist! what was it ? almost six months !
The Palestinians started off with some of their puny rockets , then Israel fired back with some Bigtime Airstrikes! Its like they never even had a time out!!!

GAZA CITY, Gaza (CNN) -- Israel launched an airstrike against Islamic militants in northern Gaza Wednesday night after rockets were fired into Israel, the Israel Defense Forces said. The IDF targeted a rocket-launching squad in northern Gaza's Jebaliya camp, a spokesman said.

Palestinian security sources told CNN there were two Israeli airstrikes, though the IDF confirmed only one. The Palestinian sources said the first strike hit a group of Islamic Jihad militants, killing one and injuring three. The second, about five minutes later, tageted the rocket-launching squad, the sources said.

Forty rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, an IDF spokesman said. Initial reports gave a lower number of missiles. Israeli police said one rocket was fired into the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.
....

Wednesday's airstrike reports and the rocket fire came after Israel launched an airstrike Tuesday night in southern Gaza and clashed with Hamas militants in central Gaza, Palestinian sources and the IDF said. Tuesday's clashes and airstrike killed a total of five militants, Palestinian sources said.

Four people were killed in Tuesday's airstrike, which targeted an area east of Khan Younis, Palestinian sources said. They said a drone and an Apache helicopter were seen.

Before Tuesday night's airstrike, fighting between Hamas militants and Israel Defense Forces killed one militant and injured three. The fighting occurred after dark, when Israeli troops entered the eastern part of the Dir Albalah refugee camp in central Gaza, Palestinian sources said.

The IDF said it launched a small operation Tuesday evening after its forces uncovered a "ready-to-be-used tunnel" several meters from a security fence. The IDF said the tunnel -- dug from a civilian home -- was meant for abducting Israeli soldiers.

Palestinian sources said the Israelis blew up a tunnel during the operation.

The IDF said it exchanged fire with militants during the operation, which it said lasted a few hours.

Paul McCartney Threatened with Suicide Bombers

Omar Bakri threatened Paul McCartney with suicide bombers when the former Beatle is scheduled to play a concert celebrating Israel's 60th anniversay.

"Paul McCartney is the enemy of every Muslim. We have what we call ‘sacrifice’ operatives who will not stand by while he joins in a celebration of their oppression." Sunday Express

Self-styled preacher of hate Omar Bakri claimed the former Beatle’s decision to take part in the Jewish state’s 60th anniversary celebrations had made him an enemy of all Muslims.

Sources said Sir Paul was shocked but refused to be intimidated.
....
“Instead of supporting the people of Palestine in their suffering, McCartney is celebrating the atrocities of the occupiers. The one who is under occupation is supposed to be getting the help.

“And so I believe for Paul McCartney, what he is doing really is creating more enemies than friends.”

Explaining his comments, Bakri told the Sunday Express: “Our enemy’s friend is our enemy.

“Thus Paul McCartney is the enemy of every Muslim. We have what we call ‘sacrifice’ operatives who will not stand by while he joins in a celebration of their oppression.

“If he values his life Mr McCartney must not come to Israel. He will not be safe there. The sacrifice operatives will be waiting for him.”

Palestinian Village Sues Canadian Contractors

Why go half-way across the world to try to stop construction? If the village was really in the right then they would've taken this suit to an Israeli court. National Post

In a lawsuit filed in Quebec Superior Court Monday, the village claims that the companies are acting as an agent of the state of Israel. It wants $2-million in punitive damages, as well as an immediate order from the Canadian court that would stop construction. If the order is successful, Bil'in will petition the Israeli Court to enforce it in the West Bank.

"What we're endeavouring to do is quite unprecedented in Canada. We hope the Canadian court will take jurisdiction over this Canadian company that's registered to do business in Quebec but is carrying on business in the Middle East on the occupied territories," Mark Arnold, Canadian counsel to Bil'in, said yesterday.
....
Bil'in -- a flashpoint in the Middle East conflict that has been the site of numerous protests, including one earlier this week -- alleges that Green Park International Inc. and Green Mount International Inc., both registered corporations in Quebec, are building illegally on lands under the jurisdiction of the village.

The suit also alleges that the companies are marketing and selling condominium units to Israeli civilians, "thereby creating a new dense settlement neighbourhood on the lands of the Village of Bil'in. In so doing, the defendants are aiding, abetting, assisting and conspiring with the State of Israel in carrying out an illegal purpose."

Palestinian Bulldozer Driver Kills 3 People

A palestinian bulldozer driver went on a rampage in downtown Jerusalem. He killed three people and injured about 40 others before police killed him. Voice of America

At least three people were killed and about forty others injured - many severely when a Palestinian bulldozer driver went on a rampage in downtown Jerusalem early Wednesday afternoon. VOA's Jim Teeple reports the bulldozer driver was killed by police who are describing the incident as a terrorist attack.

Witnesses reported a scene of chaos and panic as the bulldozer plowed through cars, knocked over a bus and damaged buildings on a busy downtown street near the city's main bus station.
....
The driver of the bulldozer was shot by police. They say no motive is known in what police are describing as a terrorist attack.

"The employee of a contractor company working on the street here in Jerusalem directed his bulldozer in the direction of civilian vehicles - a bus and cars that are on the street all the time yelling Allah al-akbar, apparent to us based on things we have experienced in the past,' said Daniel Seaman, a spokesman for the Israeli government. "This is undeniably a terrorist attack."

Palestinians to Get More Money

Donors have pledged to give $242 million dollars to the palestinians for security projects. The money will be taken out of the $7.4 billion (thats no typo) pledged in Paris last December.Al Jazeera

Europe and the States keep trying to pay off the palestinians so that they'll stop killing Israelis. It hasn't worked for the last 15 years. From the 1993 Olso accords to 2006, the palestinians have received over $5.5 billion in aid. And during this time the palestinians had gone on killing Israelis.

The $5.5 billion in aid has also done nothing to lift palestinians out of poverty either. Their economy is shrinking at 8% this year, the West Bank and Gaza Strip have a 18.6% unemployment rate and about 46% of the population lives under poverty. So what is another $7.4 billion going to do?

International donors at a conference on the Middle East in Berlin have committed $242m for security projects that they hope will help in creating a viable Palestinian state.

The money will be passed to the Palestinian Authority (PA) over the next three years to be spent on security measures such as more police stations and courthouses.

[...]

Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, had urged donor countries at the opening of the conference to allocate uncommitted funds from their existing pledges to support the PA.

She said: "Every link in what we call the chain of security must be intact and unbreakable. To... invest in a future state the Palestinians must have confidence that their police, courts, and penal system are dedicated to upholding the rule of law and respecting human rights."
The only question is...what rule of law will the palestinians uphold?
