Palestinians to Get More Money

Donors have pledged to give $242 million dollars to the palestinians for security projects. The money will be taken out of the $7.4 billion (thats no typo) pledged in Paris last December.Al Jazeera

Europe and the States keep trying to pay off the palestinians so that they'll stop killing Israelis. It hasn't worked for the last 15 years. From the 1993 Olso accords to 2006, the palestinians have received over $5.5 billion in aid. And during this time the palestinians had gone on killing Israelis.

The $5.5 billion in aid has also done nothing to lift palestinians out of poverty either. Their economy is shrinking at 8% this year, the West Bank and Gaza Strip have a 18.6% unemployment rate and about 46% of the population lives under poverty. So what is another $7.4 billion going to do?

International donors at a conference on the Middle East in Berlin have committed $242m for security projects that they hope will help in creating a viable Palestinian state.

The money will be passed to the Palestinian Authority (PA) over the next three years to be spent on security measures such as more police stations and courthouses.

Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, had urged donor countries at the opening of the conference to allocate uncommitted funds from their existing pledges to support the PA.

She said: "Every link in what we call the chain of security must be intact and unbreakable. To... invest in a future state the Palestinians must have confidence that their police, courts, and penal system are dedicated to upholding the rule of law and respecting human rights."
The only question is...what rule of law will the palestinians uphold?
