Dude. OBL came within minutes of killing Bill Clinton?

That's what is being alleged in a new book

From The Telegraph:

The US leader was saved shortly before his car was due to drive over a bridge in Manila where a bomb had been planted. The foiled attack came during Mr Clinton's visit to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in the city in 1996.

At one point during his stay, he was scheduled to visit a local politician, his route taking him across a bridge in central Manila. But as the presidential motorcade was about to set off, secret service officers received a "crackly message in one earpiece" saying intelligence agents had picked up a message suggesting an attack was imminent.

The transmission used the words "bridge" and "wedding" – a terrorists code word for assassination.

The motorcade was quickly re-routed and American agents later discovered a bomb had been planted under the bridge.

Hmmm. If you say so. Sounds a little fugazy to me. Read it all and you tell me. Developing...

Critics Say Photos of Kim Jong Il Are Really Of a Look-Alike

Damn Funny if you ask me ! Little Kimmie has stand in's , just like Saddam insane had when he had full control of Iraq !
Even funnier is , if to be true , then Bill Clinton may have been Duped by A Phony Version of the Dear Leader !

....Foxnews
A number of analysts are convinced that photos released of North Korea's leader Kim Jong Il are not really of the dear leader — but rather a strikingly good look-alike.

Observers say the communist country's leader is too sick to make appearances, including August's meeting with former President Bill Clinton, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

Evidence of the resemblance is not verified, but several North Korean refugees report that Kim has several people standing in for him on some of the 122 trips he's made this year, the paper reports.

Ha Tae-young, president of Open Radio for North Korea, cites one recent North Korean defector who claimed he knew a girl whose father was an actor for Kim.

"Recently Kim Jong Il loses fat. He's very skinny these days. The defector says, 'If Kim Jong Il looks skinny, the actor can do the same thing'," Ha said.

North Korea frees two U.S. journalists after Clinton trip

"Clinton expressed words of sincere apology to Kim Jong Il for the hostile acts committed by the two American journalists against the DPRK after illegally intruding into it.
Nicely done Bill , Glad to see these two out of prison !
And all done in a timely fashion , maybe Mr. Clinton will get talks going again !
I guess all it takes is for a High profile American to go there And Dis the United States !

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea released two jailed American journalists on Tuesday after a visit from former U.S. President Bill Clinton in the highest-level U.S. contact with Pyongyang since Clinton was president nearly a decade ago.

North Korea's KCNA news agency said North Korean leader Kim Jong-il had issued a "special pardon" to the two journalists, Euna Lee and Laura Ling of U.S. media outlet Current TV, which was co-founded by Clinton's vice president, Al Gore.

The two journalists were arrested on the North Korea-China border in March and accused of illegal entry. A North Korean court sentenced both of them last month to 12 years of hard labor for what it called grave crimes.

There were immediate questions about what Clinton had discussed with Kim beyond the fate of the two reporters during a visit that gave Kim what he craved -- direct U.S. attention and a visit from a highly placed emissary.

The news agency insisted that Clinton "courteously conveyed a verbal message of U.S. President Barack Obama expressing profound thanks for this and reflecting views on ways of improving the relations between the two countries."

The White House had denied that Clinton carried any sort of message from Obama, but Obama officials otherwise remained silent while awaiting the diplomatic negotiations to unfold.

Bill Clinton makes surprise visit to North Korea

Oh, everything will be O.K. now , Bill Clinton is on the case ! He will get the two reporters released , and the Nuclear standoff with the Norks will be Over ! Thanx Bill !
Seriously though , he may get the two reporters released , but the Nuclear talks , I doubt he will help there , he might encourage them to further their program !
And ladies if you are released , if Bill pulls out a cigar , Beware !

SEOUL (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Bill Clinton made a surprise visit to North Korea on Tuesday to try to win the release of two jailed U.S. journalists, a move some analysts said could mark the isolated state's return to dialogue over nuclear weapons.

Clinton's trip follows months of military provocations by the impoverished North which has turned its back on negotiations with regional powers, including the United States and China, to convince it to give up ambitions to build an atomic arsenal.

North Korea's KCNA news agency said the country's chief nuclear negotiator, Kim Kye-gwan, was among those greeting Clinton -- whose administration was reported to have considered bombing the North's Yongbyon atomic plant in the early 1990s.

"As soon as he arrives, he will be entering negotiations with the North for the release of the female journalists," South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted a source as saying.
