Members of a small Missouri town banded together Saturday to block a controversial pastor and members of his Westboro Baptist Church from protesting the funeral of a fallen U.S. soldier, Fox4kc.com reports.
Hundreds of residents in Weston, Mo. -- as well as people as far away as California and Australia -- rallied in support of Sgt. First Class C.J. Sadell, who died from injuries suffered during a surprise attack in Afghanistan.
The residents sought to block Fred Phelps, leader of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., and his followers from picketing Sadell’s funeral, according to the station.
"We got everybody here early so we could take up all the parking spots," Rebecca Rooney of Weston, Mo., told Fox4kc.com. "We did that so Mr. Phelps wouldn't have a contingency that was really close."

The a-holes refused to stand for the judge and the judge 'compromised' by allowing them to enter the court after her. To add insult to injury, they were given an extra 20 minutes on their lunch break to go pray at a nearby mosque. A special 'quiet room' has also been set up in the court house to allow them to pray during the rest of the trial.

Seven Muslim protesters accused of screaming insults at soldiers during an Iraq homecoming parade refused to stand for a judge yesterday.
The men are alleged to have shouted 'murderers', 'rapists', 'terrorists' and 'baby killers' while waving placards at the 2nd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment marching through Luton.
At the town's magistrates' court, they denied using threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress to others.
The defendants were given an extra 20 minutes on top of their lunch break to go to pray at a mosque a few minutes' walk away.
A separate 'quiet' room has been set aside for their regular prayer intervals for the rest of the week. The seven accused men are Munin Abdul, 28, Jalal Ahmed, 21, Jabair Ahmed, 19, Yousaf Bashir, 29, Shajjadar Choudhury, 31, Ziaur Rahman, 32, and white Muslim Ibrahim Anderson, 32, all from Luton.
They are alleged to have chanted: 'British army murderers', 'British soldiers burn in hell' and 'Baby killers shame on you'.

ANTI-fascist and anti-Islam protesters are facing off this afternoon in opposing demonstrations in Harrow. Around two hundred people under of Unite Against Fascism (UAF) started to arrive outside Harrow Central Mosque at midday for a protest to “defend Harrow's community”.
The bought and paid for opposition. Note the expensive pre-printed signs. The red socialist flags were in evidence, too.----->
They are objecting to plans by Stop the Islamisation of Europe (SIOE) to hold an anti-Islam rally outside the mosque today. Eighteen men and one woman have arrived to protest against the mosque, but it is unclear whether they are SIOE members.
The groups are currently in a stand off in the car park of Harrow Civic Centre, separated by police and specially erected security barriers.

The UAF supporters have been chanting “racist scum - off our streets”, which have been occasionally countered by shouts from the sparse gathering of anti-Mosque supporters.
Roy Parsons, one of the anti-Islam protesters, told the Harrow Times: “Muslims want dominance, they don't want to live alongside us. “They have a right to be here, but they have to live alongside us with our laws. We are here for a peaceful protest, it's the UAF who are the dangerous ones.”

Silvio Berlusconi has been punched in the face at a rally in Milan tonight, according to Italian news reports.
The Italian prime minister was whisked away in a car after falling to the ground during the attack. State television showed Berlusconi with blood on his lips as he was lifted to his feet by aides.
Police initially said a young man had punched Berlusconi in the face outside the Piazza del Duomo, but later said the man might have hurled an object at the premier from close range. A man was arrested at the scene, according to the Ansa news agency.
A spokesman for Berlusconi said he did not immediately have any information about the incident, which happened after the premier delivered a speech to his conservative supporters this evening.
"What they've done to Berlusconi is an act of terrorism," Umberto Bossi, head of the far-right Northern League and a close Berlusconi ally, told Ansa.

English Defence League: Nottingham rally after action report.
Details of today's EDL rally in Nottingham are beginning to filter in. Once again media reports go out of their way to portray the EDL as drunken, masked hooligans and the UAF group as dear little angels. Funny. They don't show the UAF taunting the EDL marchers or throwing sticks at the police. And MSM photos of the UAF are thin on the ground - don't you wonder why. The only one I've been able to find so far shows their red fascist flags and a man clutching what appears to be a stout stick.

PITTSBURGH — Police fired canisters of pepper spray and smoke at marchers protesting the Group of 20 summit Thursday after anarchists responded to calls to disperse by rolling trash bins and throwing rocks.
The march turned chaotic at just about the time that President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama arrived for a meeting with leaders of the world's major economies.
The clashes began after hundreds of protesters, many advocating against capitalism, tried to march from an outlying neighborhood toward the convention center where the summit is being held.
The protesters banged on drums and chanted "Ain't no power like the power of the people, 'cause the power of the people don't stop."
What a Joke !
The marchers included small groups of self-described anarchists, some wearing dark clothes and bandanas and carrying black flags. Others wore helmets and safety goggles.
One banner read, "No borders, no banks," another, "No hope in capitalism." A few minutes into the march, protesters unfurled a large banner reading "NO BAILOUT NO CAPITALISM" with an encircled "A," a recognized sign of anarchists.
The marchers did not have a permit and, after a few blocks, police declared it an unlawful assembly. They played an announcement over a loudspeaker telling people to leave or face arrest and then police in riot gear moved in to break it up.

Venezuela accuses protesters of fomenting rebellion
Attorney General Luisa Ortega, Venezuela's top prosecutor, has claimed that protesters against a new educational law are fomenting a "criminal civil rebellion" against Hugo Chavez. Ortega stated that people found "guilty" of protesting can face 12 to 24 years in prison.

Venezuela's top prosecutor said Saturday that recent street protests were legally tantamount to "rebellion" against President Hugo Chavez's government and that demonstrators will now be charged.
The dramatic move by Attorney General Luisa Ortega capped a week of huge street protests, mostly directed against a new education law that critics say is politically charged.
"People who disturb order and the peace to create instability of institutions, to destabilize the government, or attack the democratic system, we are going to charge and try them," Ortega said in a statement, referring to the government of leftist-populist Chavez.
William Ojeda, of the opposition A New Time party, argued that "the very right to protest is being turned into a crime."
"The justice system is now being used as a tool of political and ideological persecution," Ojeda added.

Muslim protester at Luton Army homecoming is airport baggage handler
It's reassuring to know that a baggage handler at a British airport is also part of an islamic group, founded by Omar Bakri, that recently called British soldiers terrorists. Telegraph
Mr Ahmed works for Menzies Aviation and has access to secure areas within the Bedfordshire airport.
Company spokesman John Geddes said: “Jalal Ahmed has a contract with Menzies Aviation. He works as a baggage handler and has an airside pass.
“He works on a zero hours contract which mean he is not a full-time employee and we would contact him at peak times and holiday times.”
Mr Ahmed is understood to have worked for Menzies for about two years and lives in Luton.
Mr Geddes said the baggage handler had been at Tuesday’s demonstration and was identified from photographs.
He said Mr Ahmed had passed all the necessary security checks to secure his job as a baggage handler.

Border-fence protesters plea for unity

SUNLAND PARK -- The four-day, 60-mile trek by protesters of the fence being built along the U.S.-Mexico border concluded Sunday afternoon with calls for peace, unity and stronger opposition to the border barrier.
"For us, the march has not ended," Carlos Marentes, director of Centro de Trabajadores Agricolas Fronterizos, the Border Farm Workers Center in South El Paso, told more than a hundred people on both sides of the fence. "On the contrary. We have stopped walking but now begins the good stuff. Now begins the work."
The U.S. government is building a fence in the El Paso area that will be nearly 100 miles long along the U.S.-Mexico border, stretching from Columbus, N.M., to Fort Hancock.
These are a couple of pictures I took just this past Sunday , Deer mice , And Coyotes do live in the desert , they have survived hundreds of years ! beyond the city it is desolate ,these are not excuses to stop the fence , however our security in America is a bigger reason to continue with the fence , The drug cartels are getting more violent , And rampant Illegal Immigration continues to put a heavy strain on our resources !
The fence is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will be part of a system of barriers in South Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California used by Border Patrol to help deter illegal immigration and smuggling.
Several organizations participated in the march that began in Fort Hancock on Thursday and drew more support as it continued west during the weekend.
Sal Quintanilla, a master naturalist with the Rio Bosque Wetlands Park, said he decided to join the march on Sunday because he believes the fence will harm wild animals in the area who depend on access to water from the Rio Grande.
"From the deer mouse all the way to the coyotes, all these animals go back between the wetlands and the river and they are just cutting things off with the fence," he said.
El Pasoan Salvador Gomez, the lone protester against the march, said he favors the fence because he believes the unchecked movement of people across the border into the United States presents a dangerous threat to national security.
Border Patrol agents in vehicles and on horses kept watch over the border and scanned the march from a distance.

China Yet to Approve Any Protests
Remeber how China promised to set up areas for protesters and how the IOC triped over themselves to praise them? Well, China has yet to approve a single protest during the olympics! It seems the Chinese have been arresting people who had applied to protest. BBC

China has received a total of 77 applications to stage protests during the Olympic Games period - but none has been approved.
Beijing's public security bureau said 74 applications were "withdrawn", two were "suspended" and one was "vetoed".
China was praised by the International Olympic Committee when it said protest areas would be set up for the Olympics.A demonstration can be turned down if it could harm national sovereignty or unity, or even if the police suspect it will "undermine public order".
Protesters were supposed to be able to demonstrate in Shijie, Zizhuyuan and Ritan parks during the Olympics.
But no areas appear to have been set up for protesters inside the parks, which are being heavily policed during the Olympics.
Some would-be protesters even appear to have been arrested after making applications to stage demonstrations.

Four protesters including two Britons have been detained in the Chinese
capital after hanging Free Tibet banners close to the main Bird's Nest stadium.
The demonstration underlined the clash between competing views of the Olympics in Beijing, as thousands of euphoric spectators cheered the arrival of the torch in Tiananmen Square while foreign activists launched a series of small protests around the city.
Given the massive security operation in the capital and the carefully organised audience, no one expected demonstrations in or around the square during the relay.US and British campaigners scored a publicity coup by climbing electricity poles at dawn and unfurling outlawed Tibetan flags and banners with Free Tibet slogans in Chinese and English. Their protest took place just outside the Bird's Nest, where the opening ceremony will take place on Friday.
"We've done this action today to highlight the Chinese government's use of the Beijing Olympics as a propaganda tool to whitewash their human rights mobile phone conversation posted on the internet," said Iain Thom, one of the protesters, in a recorded mobile phone conversation posted on the internet.
