Dems to bar Republicans from health care negotiations.
Just wanted to get this on the record...

House and Senate Democrats intend to bypass the traditional joint conference committee when they negotiate a final compromise on health care legislation, officials said yesterday, a move that will exclude Republican lawmakers and limit their ability to force votes that might delay action.
Democratic aides said the final compromise talks would essentially be a three-way negotiation involving top Democrats in the House and Senate and the White House, giving unusual latitude to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.
Those officials said there are no plans to appoint a formal House-Senate conference committee, the method Congress most often uses to reconcile differing bills. The plan is to skip the formal meetings, reach an agreement, then have the two bodies vote. A 60-vote Senate majority would be required for final passage.

MIA DC Muslim 5: "al-Qaeda's Crown Jewels"
Not much to report on the fate of the DC Muslim 5 (shown above), today. Although, I thought this comment from Rick Nelson of the CSIS very succinctly sums up the public relations and operational value of these douchebags to al Qaeda.
Per ABC News:
Rick Nelson, a senior fellow with the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, said he sees these homegrown terrorists as "sort of the the crown jewel for international terrorist organizations like al Qaeda."
"To be able to get someone who can put a Western face on radical Islamic terrorism, someone who has the ability as a legal U.S. resident to travel fairly freely throughout the world with a passport makes them a very, very useful tool," Nelson said.
They are indeed tools, that's for darned sure.
MIA DC Muslim 5: All virgin kids, just going to Pakistan to find wives. Yeah. That's the ticket. Right there.
While their youthful charges (shown above) are cooling their jihadi heels in a Pakistani slammer, Muslim "community leaders" whirl like dervishes, spinning the story for all it's worth.
They find a willing audience at NPR:
The five young American men detained in Pakistan earlier this week betrayed no hints of extremism back home. Yet they suddenly left their families in the Washington, D.C., area and turned up in Pakistan, where authorities believe they were looking to gain entry to terrorist training camps. Back home, community leaders are trying to make sure that such an episode doesn't happen again. (Ed. note: I take 'episode' to mean their little junior jihadis getting caught. see: MIA DC Muslim 5: Families hoped to find sons and discreetly return them to the US)
"It was like, you know, an earthquake just hit us. We're just stunned, bubble-eyed," youth group leader Mustafa Maryam says. He met with the young men every week. They prayed at a single-story building just off Route 1. It's surrounded by car dealerships and a Firestone tire shop. It was supposed to be a place where Muslim leaders like Maryam could protect the community's kids.
"We'd rather have you at the mosque than in the street. We'd rather you have — and be in — a positive environment than with thugs," he says. But those thugs weren't on the street; apparently they were online. According to reports, the five young men were radicalized after watching YouTube videos and communicating on social networking sites.
Maryam didn't see hints in any of this. He sees more truth in the reports that the men, devout Muslims, had traveled to Pakistan to find wives.
"As far as I know, they're all virgin kids. Everybody dreams about the day that they'll get married. So many conversations, so many discussions about marriage," he says. "That makes more sense to me than this stuff I'm hearing."
At the mosque's youth group, Maryam tried to bring the young people together to protect them — they played basketball and soccer, went to movies and meals together. And yet it didn't work.

MIA DC Muslims used Facebook and Youtube to start their careers in terror.

We read here how the MIA DC 5 were rebuffed by al Qaeda because they lacked the right terror resumes and recommendations. Now we learn they had used Facebook and Youtube to try and make the right contacts.
Per the AP:
I'm sure you'll be happy to know that the MIA DC 5 have been in touch with the US State Dept.The men used the social networking site Facebook and the Internet video site YouTube to try to connect with extremist groups in Pakistan, said S.M. Imran Gardezi, the press minister at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington. When they arrived in Pakistan, they took that effort to the street.
"They were trying to link up to some groups, but there is no evidence for now that there was a definite plan," Gardezi said.
Local Pakistanis became suspicious of the young men and tipped off police, he said. Police arrested the group in a home belonging to the uncle of one of the men. Gardezi said the uncle had past ties to extremist groups.
Gardezi said the men have not been turned over to the FBI and said Pakistan intended to carry out its own legal process.
"We have had access to the five detainees," Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told reporters Thursday at an unrelated news conference. She called the move "part of the usual outreach" of the U.S. government and declined further comment.
For his part President Obama had this to say about the matter. And no, he did not say they 'acted stupidly'. (evidently only white American cops do that.)
President Barack Obama declined to talk specifically about the case Thursday, but said, "We have to constantly be mindful that some of these twisted ideologies are available over the Internet."
Obama, in Oslo, Norway, to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, also praised "the extraordinary contributions of the Muslim-American community, and how they have been woven into the fabric of our nation in a seamless fashion."
(I wonder if by 'seamless fashion' he means arranged marriages, honor killings and terror attacks?)

Ruh-roh. 5 DC area Muslims go missing.

"Federal investigators are searching for a Howard University dental student and four other missing Muslim men reported missing from the Washington, D.C. area, the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) has learned. There is concern they may have been sent abroad to train for jihad. The five were last seen November 29.
The identities of two of the missing men, Howard student Ramy Zamzam and Waqar Khan, have been mentioned in online postings, including a Facebook page that was set up Monday for friends to offer their support. Some of those pages, however, appear restricted to friends and associates.
It is not clear where the men are believed to have gone, but an informed source told the IPT that at least one left behind a farewell video."

"Note that one of the guys was/is president of the Muslim Student Association, which is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. David Horowitz and Robert Spencer have been warning for years how radical these MSA chapters can be."

"According to the Facebook and Twitter postings, Zamzam is among the missing. He has been active in the Muslim Students Association, serving as president of the MSA DC Council. A Howard University spokeswoman has not responded to questions from the IPT.
A Muslim Student Association president. Hmmm...where have I heard that before? Oh, that's right, Alabama jihadist Abu Monsour Al-Amriki (aka Omar Hammimi), who was MSA president at the University of South Alabama and is now an active trainer with the Somali branch of Al-Qaeda, Al-Shabaab. And lets not forget Syed Maaz Shah, who was convicted of participating in firearms training sessions with members of the "Houston Taliban", who was also the president of the Univ. of Texas-Dallas MSA."
And Dinah's contribution to the effort: It looks like Br. Ramy Zamzam is also the project manager of something called Project 500. (The latest news items posted are from 2008 and his last comment on the blog is September 5th, 2008.) Pictures and more info at the link.
We are 17 Muslim youth who have come together for a compelling cause to build a Masjid to unite and strengthen our growing community. How? We have called to action 500 Masajid all across the US to donate a simple $500 to assist us in this amazing and remarkable project. Why? “We hope to inspire the Muslim youth all across America to step up and show everyone that we can get things done and prove we are the future of this Muslim Ummah.”

Our youth group does everything from discussing heated topics about issues facing Muslim Youth in America today to going on trips to New York, New Jersey, Islamic conventions, camping to just playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, and simply having barbeques or going bowling. We know how to have fun and at the same time keep a halal environment.

White House aide resigns over N.Y. flyover
As he should , and as for any Government official wasting American Taxpayers money ! You Idiot's , it is our money ! stop spending it like spoiled little Brats !
WASHINGTON, May 8 (Reuters) - A White House military aide who authorized an Air Force flyover of New York that caused panic among some people in the city resigned on Friday.
Louis Caldera said in a resignation letter to President Barack Obama , that the controversy over the mission -- a photo shoot of a jumbo jet used as Air Force One with the Statue of Liberty in the background -- made it impossible for him to lead the White House Military Office.
The flight over lower Manhattan for a photo shoot scared some New Yorkers who remembered the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001 involving hijacked airliners that destroyed the World Trade Center. Some people panicked and evacuated office buildings when the planes flew over.
Caldera had approved the mission. His resignation came on the same day Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in a letter to Senator John McCain that the photo shoot cost U.S. taxpayers as much as $357,000.
