Philippines capture top MILF terrorist

The Philippines army says it has captured a top Muslim rebel, Camarudin Hadji Ali, a claim denied by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The military claim came after days of fighting between the army and another rebel group, Abu Sayyaf, in which more than 30 rebels were killed.[...]
"Ali is a leader of the MILF's 105th Base Command under Ameril Umbrakato, who are both wanted for a series of deadly attacks last year in Mindanao," regional army spokesman Colonel Jonathan Ponce said.
He said Camarudin Hadji Ali, also known as Commander Mudi, was picked up at his wife's home in Cotabato City, on Mindanao, which was under surveillance by the police and military.

Philippine army arrest 4 wives of terrorists suspected of kidnapping Red Cross workers

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine troops have arrested four wives of suspected militants and accused them of aiding kidnappings by the al-Qaida-linked terror group Abu Sayyaf, officials said Thursday.
The women detained Tuesday at a checkpoint on southern Jolo Island included the two wives of Abu Sayyaf commander Albader Parad, the main suspect in the Jan. 15 abduction of three international Red Cross workers, said navy spokesman Lt. Col. Edgard Arevalo.
One of Parad's wives, Rowena "Honey" Aksan, allegedly took part in the kidnapping and had been seen inside Abu Sayyaf jungle camps, Arevalo said.[...]
The Abu Sayyaf, which has about 400 fighters, is on the U.S. list of terrorist organizations because bombings, ransom kidnappings and beheadings of hostages have rattled the southern Philippines for decades. The group is suspected of receiving funds and training from al-Qaida.

Six people died and about 40 were hurt when an explosion occurred near a gasoline station in Jolo after 8 a.m. local time, police spokesman Jose Bayani Gucela said in a mobile phone message today.
Two hours later, an improvised bomb exploded near a pawnshop in Iligan, injuring 13 people, including three soldiers, the military said in a statement. This was the third blast in three days in the region, where Muslim separatist groups are demanding an independent Islamic state and the al- Qaeda-linked group Abu Sayyaf is active.
The death toll from a July 5 blast in Cotabato City rose to six after an injured infant died in a hospital, Colonel Romeo Brawner, a spokesman for the armed forces, said by telephone.
The Cotabato attack may be part of a plan to “sow terror” in central Mindanao and divert authorities from pursuing rogue commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the main Muslim separatist group in the country, Brawner said.

The Philippine military has gained an upper hand over militants fighting for an Islamic homeland in the country's south.
While not a definitive victory over the insurgents and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, MILF, the Philippine military's latest offensive has destroyed more than six bases and killed more than 100 rebels over recent weeks.
The military says this has ruined the MILF's capacity to make strategic strikes and limits its ability to provide a safe haven for regional terrorists. It also puts the military on a footing to achieve its objective of reducing the conflict to inconsequential levels by 2010.

Philippines arrests JI-linked Muslim rebels
A Jemaah Islamiah linked terrorist was arrested in the Philippines in a raid that occurred two weeks ago. Jemaah Islamiah is a terrorist organization based in Indonesia. JI is dedicated to establishing shariah law throughout the south western Pacific. JI has very close ties with Al Qaida, and was behind the 2002 Bali bombings.
The terrorist tranferred funds to MILF, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, which is a islamic terrorist organization that the Philippine army has been battling.
This goes to show you that MILF is fighting for islam not for some liberal idea of identity. Portfolio

Army commandos caught Ansar Venancio during a raid at a rebel hideout in Marawi City on the southern island of Mindanao two weeks ago, Lieutenant-Colonel Arnulfo Burgos said on Wednesday, adding his arrest will help uncover links between JI militants and rebels on Mindanao.
"He facilitated the stay, travel and transfer of funds from JI to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)," Burgos said, referring to the country's largest Muslim rebel group.
The MILF has denied any links with JI and al Qaeda, but it is possible some members may have personal ties with foreign militants, rebel spokesman Eid Kabalu has said.

Moro Muslims asked Philippines army not to use mosques as "military camps", saying "it is a grave violation of international humanitarian law".HA!! So when islamic terrorists use mosque as weapons depot, minarets as sniping positions there's silence from the general muslim population. But if infidels step foot inside a mosque then it's complete disrespect.
MILF called on army to vacate the mosques and not to use them "as military camp" in Maguindanao particularly in the municipality of Datu Piang.
"This act of converting mosques into camps is a complete disregard and disrespect for the religion of Islam and the sensibilities of the Muslims," it said in a statement.

ZAMBOANGA, Philippines (AFP) — More than 20 Muslim extremists have been killed in fierce fighting in the southern Philippines in retaliatory attacks following the gunning down of a local police chief, police said Monday.
The fighting in the southern island of Jolo broke out after Muslim extremist Abu Sayyaf members ambushed Chief Superintendent Julasirim Kasim, killing him and four of his men last Thursday.
Five rebels were also killed in the attack.
Since then, residents in the area have reported seeing numerous Abu Sayyaf bodies left behind after clashes with government forces, local police official Director Felizardo Serapio said.
"The civilians in the area sighted 20 more Abu Sayyaf killed aside from the five terrorists killed earlier in the encounter," he said.

The Philippine army says it's overrun more than a dozen camps occupied by Muslim insurgents in the southern Philippines, recovering a cache of weapons.
The week-long "clearing" operation is designed to flush out what the military says are the rogue commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, responsible for ongoing attacks since peace talks collapsed last August. Around a quarter of a million people displaced in the fighting are still living in evacuation camps and home stays across Mindanao. Some families have been able to return to their villages, but many others return home only to be forced to flee again.

20 MILF terrorists not eager to go to paradise
These guys weren't willing to find out if they get goat/camel virgins in paradise.
A RANKING Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commander and his 20 men on Monday yielded to the government, as other separatist rebels, who are apparently against the surrender, bombed a strategic bridge in Lanao del Norte.
Mabaning Andamun Lucsadatu and his men formally yielded to Lanao del Norte Gov. Mohammad Khalid Dimaporo through Maj. Gen. Romeo Lustestica, commander of the Army’s First Infantry “Tabak” Division.
Col. Benito de Leon, 104th Infantry Brigade commander, facilitated the surrender of the rebels to Lustestica.
De Leon has held in custody of the MILF fighters as early as last week.

11 MILF terrorists killed

COTABATO, the Philippines, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Eleven Muslim rebels and a government soldier were killed in a fresh clash in the southern Philippine province of North Cotabato on Tuesday, a local military official said.
Government troops under 9th Scout Ranger were conducting clearing operation in the remote village of Upper Dado in Alamada Township Tuesday morning when they encountered more than 20 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the country's largest rebel group, local Army spokesman Colonel Jonathan Ponce told Xinhua.
Ponce said the fire-fight lasted one hour and three government soldiers were also slightly wounded.

Officials said the fighting broke out in North Kabuntalan town near the province of Shariff Kabunsuan, where security forces are battling members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
“At least eight MILF rebels were reported killed in the battle," said Lt. Col. Jonathan Ponce, a spokesman for the Army’s 6th Infantry Division.
He said Italian planes SF-260 provided air support to ground troops fighting the rebels under Ameril Kato, one of three MILF commanders wanted by authorities for the series of deadly attacks last year in Mindanao.

Filipino President caving in to MILF
Filipino President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is issuing an executive order to give more autonomy for Midanao muslims. MILF, the Midanao Islamic Liberation Front, has been fighting a gorilla style war against the Philipino government in order to establish islamic law over the Midanao province.
This is a huge mistake, anytime you cave in to islamic demands this will on embolden them and they will demand more. How many times have we given land to islamists only to see continued fighting? Ghandi separates India, creates Pakistan, everyone knows how well that worked out. US hands Kosovo to muslims so they'd stop fighting Israel, that went well. Israel moves out of Gaza and I'm pretty sure people know how well that's working out for the Israelis. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reported another set of 12 lawless Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fighters were killed in a series of air strikes launched by Air Force MG-520 and OV-10 bomber planes over Kalamansig town since Wednesday. The latest AFP report stressed another 20 MILF combatants under the command of certain Moro rebel commanders Boyet and Jakiri were killed in separate running gun battle in the area.

MILF torches Christian village
ROPMAMonster and Criticsotabato City, Philippines - Muslim separatist rebels attacked a southern Philippine village, torching at least 30 homes of Christian families, an army spokesman said Thursday.
No one was hurt in the raid on Sanga village in Kalamansig town in Sultan Kudarat province, 930 kilometres south of Manila, on Wednesday, said Lieutenant Colonel Julieto Ando.
Ando said about 150 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels occupied the farming village, forcing some 500 families to flee their homes.
