Islamabad, Oct 01: Militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the abduction of a Polish engineer from Punjab province, saying he would not be freed till the release of arrested Taliban and halt to the military operation in the country's tribal areas.

The engineer, who was working for a Polish seismic survey company, was kidnapped from a village in Attock district on September 28.

A spokesman of the Pakistan-based militant group demanded the release of arrested Taliban and halt to the military operations in Darra Adam Khel, Bajaur and Swat for the release of the engineer, the Pakistani media reports said.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a search to trace the engineer. The security forces on Tuesday dropped pamphlets through helicopters in Bajaur agency asking local people to stand up against militants.
