Going to the Polls on Afghan Mission?

Here's an article from the National Post:

Mr. Dion may yet miscalculate and send the country sliding toward an election. He may even decide that Afghanistan is a potential vote winner for the Liberals. That is certainly Mr. Harper's impression and there are genuine fears in government circles that the Liberals could indeed pick up support if they run a campaign in opposition to extending the current mission.

We shouldn't be backing down but we should be pressing the Taliban harder. The Taliban fear Canadian soldiers and are resorting to IED attacks against them. The IED attacks should be mitigated once us Canadians start piggy backing on Polish helicopters.

But there are good reasons not to provoke an election over Afghanistan. As the Dutch reviewed their contribution to NATO's force in Uruzgan province last year, there was a sharp increase in violence -- between mid-June and mid-January, the Dutch army suffered all but one of its nine combat deaths.

This is the last thing the government should be doing...politisizing the war in Afghanistan...

Fortunately, there remain strong voices in the Liberal Party that are calling for sensible amendments to the motion the Conservatives will bring forward. "Reasoned amendments will be brought to the Afghanistan motion based on the assumption that the Canadian presence needs to continue, but that its focus needs to be redefined," said foreign affairs critic Bob Rae.

The only way the war should be "redefined" should be that all aid is dependent on Afghanistan dropping all forms of shariah law. And maybe NATO's combat mission should be "redefined" into Warizstan too.

good luck in your new endeavor...to generate more traffic, I'd suggest doing posts that fold over onto the second page. At least that's what we've been told, so mostly we do.

It was a hard habit to learn, though.

That, and posting multiple times in a day was the most difficult habits to acquire...hope you don't find it as hard!

Thanks dymphna! I just added the fold. Still trying to configure this blog to my liking. It's turning out to be more work than I thought!
