Al Qaida Terrorist Sues US Prison

An al Qaida terrorist, Mohammed Jabarah, 26, who was captured in 2002 is filing a frivolous lawsuit against US justice and prison officials for his deteriorating health. He claims he has developed insomnia, shortness of breath, chest pains and depression. The purpose of this frivolous lawsuit is just to paint the US in a bad light, just like all the other claims of torture and bad prison meals. Boo hoo. National Post

A Canadian al-Qaeda member serving a life sentence in the United States has filed a lawsuit against U.S. justice and prison officials, blaming them for his depression and other health problems.

Mohammed Jabarah, 26, claims in court documents that since his arrest in 2002 he has developed stress-related symptoms, respiratory difficulties, chest pain, shortness of breath, insomnia, anxiety and depression.

He blames his ill health on federal officials whom he accuses of withholding letters from his family for up to 41 months. He says that caused a "sense of disconnection between my family," which triggered his medical troubles.
....
Jabarah has filed no evidence supporting his allegations. The U.S. Attorney's Office and Bureau of Prison officials named in the suit have not yet filed a response. After graduating from a St. Catharines high school in 2000, Jabarah travelled to Afghanistan with his brother and trained under Osama bin Laden, to whom he pledged an oath of allegiance.

Al-Qaeda later sent him to Southeast Asia to bomb U.S. and Israeli embassies, but the plot was discovered by Singaporean police. Jabarah was arrested in Oman and brought back to Ontario by Canadian Security Intelligence Service officers. He confessed to CSIS and signed a deal with the U.S. Justice Department in which he agreed to surrender and plead guilty. But after co-operating with the FBI, he stopped talking. On Jan. 18, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. His lawyers are appealing.
