US Military Chief Visits Pakistan

This is Adm Mike Mullen's 2nd trip to Pakistan in just one month. Pakistan is arguably the front line in the war against Jihadists and we have to rely on the Pakistani ISI and army. Great.

The US top soldier is making his second visit to Pakistan in less than a month for anti-terror talks with President Pervez Musharraf.

Adm Mike Mullen, the chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, will also hold talks with top army commanders.

The BBC's Jill McGivering says that the focus of Adm Mullen's visit will be the joint approach of the two countries to Pakistan's worsening security situation.

The US wants to be reassured that Pakistan's new leadership will continue to be a strong ally, our correspondent says.

Adm Mullen's talks are expected to include plans for the US to send in more specialist trainers later this year.

They will work with the Pakistan military in areas like counter-insurgency and intelligence gathering.
