The US and Russia still disagree over the plans to develop the missile shield in Eastern Europe. I believe that Russia will use this as a leverage against NATO's plea for logistical help for Afghanistan. Reuters
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Basic disagreements remain between Moscow and Washington over U.S. plans for a missile defence shield, the Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday, quoting a source close to talks between the two countries' foreign and defense ministers.
"The main disagreements in the Russian and U.S. positions are on the U.S. missile shield plan," Interfax quoted a source close to the talks as saying.
"The problem remains and consists of the fact that the Americans are not giving up their plans to deploy a missile defense system in eastern Europe."
