At least five people have been wounded in a roadside bomb attack in north-western Pakistan, police say.

The bomb, which was planted on a bicycle, exploded near a military vehicle in the garrison town of Kohat, the police said.

Pakistan's security forces are frequently targeted in attacks by militants.

One report said that some security personnel were among the people who were wounded.

"[The bomb] exploded at a main road junction as the military vehicle was turning. A cycle rickshaw and another car were also damaged," police official Nizam Khan told the AFP news agency.

North West Frontier Province is considered a haven for militants with links to the Taleban and al-Qaeda.
