This post on liveleak reports a very significant air assault operation by the British Paras in Zabul province in the past six days or so.
The remarkable thing is that the Para's purposely landed themselves deep in the middle of a Taliban stronghold for the express purpose
of baiting Terry Talib to surround them. The Para's demolished the enemy whose retreat became a rout.
Man... This is the stuff that historic legends are made of.
Hats off to the heroes. God bless them.
By the way, note the date of the report June 6th; i.e. 67 years ago almost to the day the fathers of these paras were landing in Normandy
capturing bridges etc.

he Correspondent Thomas Harding watched as British firepower finally turned the tide in the Taliban's own "back yard".
Witnessing the firefight, he reports on a fight which destroyed the idea of Afghanistan's "mythical warriors".
Paratroopers fought their biggest battle in Afghanistan for two years as the Taliban attempted to push them out of their "backyard".
But the inability of the insurgents to make an impact on the British force during its fourth day deep in enemy territory was demonstrated by a brutal rebuff which resulted in an enemy rout.
