Hizbollah Terrorists Ready to Kidnap Jewish Businessmen in Venezuela

Even though Hizbollah has had a presence in Venezuela since at least the early 90s some Western anti-terrorism agents are growing concerned about Tehran and Caracas' growing relationship. They fear that Hizbollah, which is sponsored by Iran, will take advantage of the situation in Venezuela. This past June, The U.S. Treasury Department designated two Venezuelian citizens as Hizbollah supporters and froze their U.S. assets.

One of the Venezualians, used embassy posts in the Middle East to raise funds for Hizbollah while the other citizen, a travel agent, facilitated the travel of Hizbollah agents to and from Iran for training.

Also, Venezuelians have been recruited by Hizbollah and Revolutionary Guards to gather information about Jewish tourists/businessmen inside Venezuela. Hizbollah and the REvoluationary Guards apparently have special agents inside Venezuela ready to kidnap Jewish businessmen and take them to Lebanon. Jerusalem Post

Agents of Hizbullah and Iran's Revolutionary Guard have deployed special forces in Venezuela intended to kidnap Jewish businessmen and smuggle them to Lebanon, Israel Radio reported Thursday.

An expert on counter-terrorism warned in an interview with The Los Angeles Times that Iranian-backed agents have managed to recruit collaborators among Venezuelan citizens living in the capital Caracas.

The collaborators are supposed to observe traffic at the Caracas airport and around it in order to collect information on Jewish travelers there.
