N. Korea Develops Noodle that Delays Hunger

Only in North Korea, Apparently scientists in North Korea have developed a new type of noodle that delays feelings of hunger. The news comes from the Pyongyang leadership so take this with a grain of salt. I'm surprised Kim Jong II didn't take credit for this. BBC

North Korean scientists have developed a new kind of noodle that delays feelings of hunger, a Japan-based pro-Pyongyang newspaper has reported.

The noodles were made from corn and soybeans, the Choson Shinbo said.

They left people feeling fuller longer and represented a technological breakthrough, the newspaper said.
The North Korean scientists were able to use shredded paper, bugs, and inedible roots as ingredients for the special noodles....
According to the newspaper, which is seen as closely linked to the Pyongyang leadership, the new noodles have twice as much protein and fives times as much fat as ordinary noodles.

"When you consume ordinary noodles (made from wheat or corn), you may soon feel your stomach empty. But this soybean noodle delays such a feeling of hunger," it said on its website.
Mugabee has expressed interest in the special noodles for his starving population.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that were to be true

ANY bulk filler ( non-toxic fiber ) will 'delay feelings of hunger". Heck - go to any health food store and pick up fiber tabs - which are used by dieters for just that purpose.

The question is not if something can fill your stomach - the question is - can it supply NUTRITION.

Otherwise, your market is Weightwatchers.

(Not saying that is not a serious market - just thinking that is not North Korea's main problem.)
