A taliban commander and 60 taliban scum have been killed in Afghanistan in separate incidents in the past 24 hours. While the taliban continue to receive a pounding, US deaths have dropped significantly in November. Only one US death was reported for the month of November.
This could be due to the fact that in winter the taliban usually retreat to the mountains and wait to attack when the weather improves in the spring. But US forces and NATO forces have been aggresively targeting IED factories this past summer. IED bombs account for the most deaths for US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
The taliban may be starting to retreat back to the mountains but US and other coalition forces are preparing or already undertaking a winter offensive against the taliban. The winter offensive is meant to keep the taliban off balance so as not to give them time to regroup for next year.
