It's clear that the taliban are pretty owrried about the intelligence gathering abilities of the Afghans, the US and NATO. Suicide bombers blew up two car bombs at the provincial office of the National Directorate of Security in the south eastern city of Khost, while at least one other fighter dressed in police uniform tried to storm the offices.
A total of six police, two intelligence officers and three civilians were killed in the attack, according to Tahir Khan Sabari, deputy provincial governor.
One car bomb exploded at the gates of the intelligence office while another detonated soon afterwards a couple of hundred metres away.
Another bomber wearing police uniform unsuccessfully tried to shoot his way into the nearby counter narcotics office, killing several police and civilians when his explosives detonated in the ensuing firefight.
US forces were called in to evacuate casualties from the attack.
Mr Khan Sabari said police were still looking for other militants who may have entered the office disguised as police.
