According to the AP, al Shabaab will officially merge with al Qaida. Apparently pledging allegiance and stating that al Shabaab and al Qaida are working together doesn't count as 'official'. I guess we can will start to see al Qaida training camps in Somalia.
This definitely isn't good since at least a few dozen Somalis with US citizenship have travelled to Somalia to fight with al Shabaab along with hundreds with UK citizenship. Will al Qaida use these Trojan horses to launch the next attack against the US/Britain?
