Turkey: Rasmussen 'loutishly disrespects' islam

Rasmussen is unacceptable to the Turks because he stood up for free speech. This is how he 'disrespected' islam. Can someone please tell me why Turkey is still a part of NATO? World Bulletin

Suat Kiniklioglu, deputy chairman of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party for foreign relations, said, "it is unacceptable that a person who loutishly disrespect our faith and holy values in the past, will head the Alliance."

In an interview with the A.A, Kiniklioglu said that election of Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen of Denmark as the new secretary-general of NATO could cause some difficulties for the Alliance because of the Islam world's perception of him."

"The Danish prime minister is a troublesome person for Turkey. There are three reasons of this: First of all, he was captured by cameras as saying after the EU Summit in 2003 that Turkey would never become a full member of the EU; then, he assumed an irresponsible and unsentimental attitude during the cartoon crisis, and lastly, he failed to prevent broadcast of Roj TV from Denmark," he said.
What a freaking racist!!!!!

What you term "free speech" in the form of cartoons desecrating the religion of Islam is considered "hate speech" by the Muslims. I don't think if there are cartoons and caricatures, depicting, say, "Greedy Jews with big noses", circulating in mainstream newspapers in Denmark, they won't provoke an UPROAR, yet someone can say that's "free speech". If you declare you have the right to publish content offensive to others, they have every right to protest, to retaliate against you. This is also their "freedom". Then you can consider if it's even worthwhile going down this route, to defend hate speech of any kind. But I suspect you're only defending it because you dislike the Muslims yourself.
