"Canadian" tied to Somalia plot

I wonder if this guy attended the Khalid bin Walid mosque which denies any Somali-Canadians traveled to Somalia to wage jihad with al Qaida linked al Shabaab. The Star

A Canadian is on trial in Somalia, accused of plotting to kill political rivals, media in the Horn of Africa country say.

Abdifatah Mohamad Ibrahim appeared in court yesterday in the central Galgudud region, where authorities showed his Canadian passport to spectators, according to Somali-language Radio Garowe. He is accused of being a member of the outlawed al Shabaab organization.

Media reports said he was arrested March 8 by clan militias loyal to Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama, a moderate group that has been battling al Shabaab. Authorities are investigating if he was trying to assassinate senior Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama officials. Canadian contacts reached in Somalia and Toronto said they couldn't confirm the claims.
