Maybe not the safest place to be a cop !

Three more off-duty Juárez police officers, the latest slain Wednesday afternoon, have been killed in separate attacks, authorities said.

In all, a total of four officers haved died violently since Friday.

City government officials were asking police to take "extreme precautions" to stem the wave of attacks that began Friday when a policewoman was killed and another policewoman was wounded while driving home after work.

The attacks restarted on Tuesday afternoon when gunmen killed a police captain.

Identified as Juan Gilberto Vasquez Briones, 40, the captain was killed by attackers who fired 15 rounds about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday when Vasquez drove a Ford Explorer into at a gas station, state police said.

About 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, officer Juan Abel Ronquillo Payan, 33, was fatally shot while driving a pickup near Avenida Ejercito Nacional and Neptuno street, state police said. Eleven bullet casings were found by investigators.

The latest shooting was about 1 p.m. Wednesday when another male officer was killed, a city spokesman said.

Officials said about 70 law enforcement officers have been slain in Juárez since January 2008 when a drug war erupted.
