Bristish muslim's attitudes split on taliban

A survey arried out by ICM for the BBC sampled 500 muslims over the age of 16. The survey found differing attitudes among muslims regarding the taliban and the wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

For example over three quarters of those surveyed said it is wrong for Western countries to intervene in Afghanistan but on the flip side slightly more said it was wrong for the taliban to attack NATO troops.

What I find more troubling is that 10% of those surveyed stated that they would not contact British authorities if they knew of al Qaida terrorists operating within their communities. Eleven percent said it was right to target NATO soldiers, about one third of the respondents said it was wrong of the Pakistani army to fight the taliban.

While there are some encouraging numbers from the survey there are frightening ones as well. There is obviously a significant portion of the muslim population in Britain that openly supports islamic terrorists. BBC

A survey of British Muslim opinion for the BBC has revealed significant divisions over the conflict with the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Three-quarters of those surveyed said it was wrong for the West to intervene militarily in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

At the same time, a similar number (78%) said they opposed Taliban attacks against Nato soldiers in Afghanistan.
