North Korea preparing to fire a missile towards Hawaii on 4th of July?

A Japanese newspaper has reported that North Korea may launch a long range missile towards Hawaii on or around the 4th of July.

I wouldn't be surprised if this report turns out to be true. North Korea has already tried similar stunts on the 4th July only to have their "fireworks" fall in the sea right after launch. Even though North Korea has failed in the past that does not mean anyone should take North Korea's ambitions of producing long range missiles with the ability to hit the US lightly.

If the left is crediting President Obama with the Lebanese election results and the protests in Iran then shouldn't the left also credit President Obama with North Korea's increased hostility? After all since Obama took office this year, North Korea has launched short, medium and long range missiles, detonated a nuclear bomb, vowed to convert all it's plutonium into weapons grade material, threatened nuclear war and has several thousand tonnes of chemical weapons.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile toward Hawaii in early July, a Japanese news report said Thursday, as Russia and China urged the regime to return to international disarmament talks on its rogue nuclear program.

The missile, believed to be a long-range Taepodong-2, would be launched from North Korea's Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast, said the Yomiuri daily, Japan's top-selling newspaper. It cited an analysis by the Japanese Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites.

The missile launch could come between July 4 and 8, the paper said.[...]

U.S. officials have said the North has been preparing to fire a long-range missile capable of striking the western U.S. In Washington on Tuesday, Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it would take at least three to five years for North Korea to pose a real threat to the U.S. west coast.
