The city council of Standish, Mich., voted 6-0 on Monday in support of a resolution that signals the city’s willingness to proceed with the idea of transferring detainees from the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to their sparsely populated Midwestern town.Does greed know no bounds?
Standish is home to Standish Maximum Correctional Facility, a state prison that was opened in 1990 but is scheduled to be closed at the end of October due to budget cuts.
