You can always count on the UN to be against the US. The UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions, Philip Alston, has stated that US Predator Drone strikes against terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan violate international humanitarian law and international human rights law. He claims that the strikes against those who cut people's heads off while screaming 'allah akbah' are "arbitrary extrajudicial executions".
Doesn't the UN realize we're fighting a war against jihadists in Afghanistan and Pakistan? Does the UN expect that we put every jihad on trial before we can kill them? Predator strikes aren't judicial executions, they're a tool of war used to kill our enemies.
The Predator Drones have been one of the few bright spots in the Afghanistan/Pakistan threater. So far this year there have been 88 Predator Drone strikes within Pakistan which have killed 404 taliban/al Qaida terrorists. One of the terrorists killed by a Predator Drone was Baitullah Mehsud, the taliban leader, and his death left a vacuum which led to infighting amongst the taliban factions.
It's obvious who's side the UN is on.

The problem with the United States is that it is making an increased use of drones/Predators (which are) particularly prominently used now in relation to Pakistan and Afghanistan," UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions Philip Alston told a press conference.
"My concern is that drones/Predators are being operated in a framework which may well violate international humanitarian law and international human rights law," he said.[...]
"The onus is really on the United States government to reveal more about the ways in which it makes sure that arbitrary extrajudicial executions aren't in fact being carried out through the use of these weapons," he added.

When are we going to get out of this worthless organization? It's nothing but a sounding board for the thugs of the world to beat the US up and whiny liberals to bleat about how mean the US is and if we just would be nice the unicorns would come back
