This is so effed up. Navy Seals face charges for capture of Fallujah ambush mastermind.

<--- The man responsible for this nightmare got a bloody lip and now the brave men that captured him are all facing court martial. This is wrong on so many levels.

From Fox News:

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And for their trouble, three of the SEALs, members of the Navy's elite commando unit, are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

The three SEALs will be arraigned separately on Dec. 7. Another three SEALs — two officers and an enlisted sailor — have been identified by investigators as witnesses but have not been charged.

Instead of bringing them up on charges they should be giving them all a medal. This is just insane. (For my part, I'd like to buy them all a beer.)

Anyone who saw Band Of Brothers should recognize this. The SEALS are calling the bluff of whatever tool wrote them up in the first place.

WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT!!

No charges should have ever been brought against these heroes, even it's a bluff.

This is nothing new...how about the border agents that shot the drug smuggler in the ass? Well they're sitting in prison for protecting the US.

Court martials against the Marines at Haditha. A court martial for defending themselves. Even they were acquitted in the end, no charges should have been brought against them.

Someone does not want the military to do it's job. Kill our enemies.

I wondered about that too, anonymous. Especially when I saw that they said eff u to the admiral's mast procedure. This makes me admire them all the more.

(I wonder if they have established a legal fund yet - I will be writing a check for sure if they have.)

All true, kyros (except I think the border guards finally got released).

I'm not too sure if they've been released or not but my point is that they should not have been charged let alone sent to prison.
