School textbooks in Pakistan are being rewritten to help promote Jihad!
Surprised, me neither, but it has been going on since the seventies.
This is the main reason why Pakistan and Muslim countries like Pakistan are doomed to self destruction, you can't fight ignorance, and it has been bred into Pakistanis for decades.

A majority of state and government workers, along with various NGOs and donor agencies, who are involved in the uplift of education in the country have suggested that low literacy rates have helped extremist and sectarian organisations in easily ‘brainwashing’ the illiterate young men into committing acts of carnage and bloodshed in the name of religion.
For this purpose, these organisations use a warped mixture of cleverly selected verses from the Quran and sayings (hadith) of the Prophet (PBUH) – giving it an un-scholarly and distorted interpretation – and an equally twisted worldview about international politics and the ‘sinister’ role being played by Hindus (India), Christians (US/West) and, of course, the Jews...
The report noticed the following in Pakistani social studies and history books:
* Insensitivity to the existing religious diversity of the nation.
* Incitement to militancy and violence, including encouragement of jihad and shahadat.
* A glorification of war and the use of force.
* Inaccuracies of fact and omissions that serve to substantially distort the nature and significance of actual events in our history.
* Perspectives that encourage prejudice, bigotry and discrimination towards fellow citizens, especially women and religious minorities.
* Omission of concepts that could encourage critical self awareness among students.

Afghan Taliban 'end' opposition to educating girls
I saw this a few days ago and thought it kind of a joke.
what kind of an Education will they be allowed to have?
One where they do what they are told or they will be Killed?

The Taliban are ready to drop their ban on schooling girls in Afghanistan, the country's education minister has said.
Farooq Wardak told the UK's Times Educational Supplement a "cultural change" meant the Taliban were "no more opposing girls' education".
The Taliban - who are fighting the Kabul government - have made no public comment on the issue.
Afghan women were not allowed to work or get an education under the Taliban regime overthrown in 2001.
Mr Wardak made his comments during the Education World Forum in London.
He told the TES: "What I am hearing at the very upper policy level of the Taliban is that they are no more opposing education and also girls' education.
"I hope, Inshallah (God willing), soon there will be a peaceful negotiation, a meaningful negotiation with our own opposition and that will not compromise at all the basic human rights and basic principles which have been guiding us to provide quality and balanced education to our people," the minister added.
