Yesterday I posted about the PR campaign, "the khadr legacy", Zaynab launched on behalf of her family, Canada's first family of terrorism. I then posted an excerpt from the 2004 CBC clip that made Khadr a household name in Canada. The beginning of the video features a Toronto Imam, Aly Hindy, who stated he was friends with the Khadr family and was "shocked" to learn of their connections to Osama bin Laden and al Qaida.
Aly Hindy is the imam of a Toronto area mosque, the Salaheddin Islamic Centre. It is believed a number of the "Toronto 17" would be terrorists "worshipped" at the mosque. Abdullah Khadr, who is currently waiting in jail for extradition to the US for selling weapons to al Qaida, wanted to work at the mosque as part of his bail proposal. His bail proposal was turned down.
Aly Hindy knew 9 of the 17 terrorists who were arrested in Toronto for plotting to blow up the CBC building and to kidnap the Prime Minister of Canada and behead him. I guess he was "shocked" to learn that those 9 were charged with plotting to carry out terrorist attacks. Well actually he didn't see it that way. He thought they were common crimminals..."It's not terrorism. It could be some criminal activity with a few guys, that's all,".
Back in May of this year Hindy caused some waves in Canada by suggesting that polygamy should be legalized in Canada because muslims living in Canada already practice it. On radio, Hindy stated he alone performed 30 polygamous marriages in the past 5 years alone.
