Suicide attack kills at least 4 in northern Iraq

Four days into the week, and a fourth suicide bombing.

Baghdad (CNN) -- A suicide car bomb attack on a police checkpoint in Baquba killed at least four people and wounded 33 others Thursday, police officials said.

Two of the dead and nine of the wounded were police officers, according to authorities, who said the attack bears the hallmarks of al Qaeda in Iraq.

In the attack, a suicide bomber rammed a minibus loaded with explosives into the main gate at Diyala police headquarters in central Baquba. The headquarters was preparing an exhibition of weapons and ammunition confiscated by Iraqi security forces from insurgents in 2010.

Separately, a Shiite pilgrim was killed and nine others were wounded in southern Baghdad's al-Dora district Thursday when a roadside bomb struck a procession of Shiite pilgrims, who were making a three-day trek by foot to Karbala for Arbaeen, police said.
